Sky Racing’s form expert, TONY BRASSEL, checks out prospective winners after some super trials in NSW and QLD.

Check out all the trials in the Catch Up section on the Sky Racingwebsite or the Sky Racing Active app.

BACKSTREETS (HBRY 27 Sept, Heat 3)
(3c, Street Boss – Miss Right Note. Trainer: James Cummings)
Grey half-brother to multi-G1 winner and champ sire, PIERRO. Yet to race but steadily progressing through four barrier trials. Most recently his bold finishing win at the Hawkesbury session last Monday. Reached for the line a bit like big bro’.

CALM DOWN (RWICK 24 Sept, Heat 5)
(3f, Savabeel – Chilled Out. Trainer: Ron Quinton)
Unraced sister to Listed Hawkesbury Rowley Mile winner SAVACOOL. Has been rolled in four trials so far but hard to knock the way she brushed home for fifth at Randwick last week. Unpressured, the youngster did it all herself from near last in the run.

CLASSIQUE LEGEND (RWICK 24 Sept, Heat 1)
(6g, Not A Single Doubt – Pinocchio. Trainer: Les Bridge)
Have never seen him trial better than last Friday. Rocketed out, box-seated, blitzed them. Simple. The opposition will need to be well-and-truly on their game if this is what’s in store for The TAB Everest. He’s back, baby!
TAB: $5 The TAB Everest; $6 VRC Sprint Classic.

COMRADE ROSA (RWICK 24 Sept, Heat 13)
(3f, Capitalist – No Looking Back. Trainer: John O’Shea)
Mum won the Listed Tatt’s Carrington Stakes (1100m). Unraced, she charged up with a beaut finish behind speedy SATIN RIBBONS at Randwick last week. Only other trial was a Hawkesbury 800m win in May – when she showed abundant natural pace.

CRITICAL TIME (HBRY 27 Sept, Heat 9)
(3c, Shalaa – Silverscreen Queen. Trainer: Black Ryan)
Made it three trial wins from as many goes when he knuckled down in a close go at Hawkesbury this week. He’s a fast beginner and has positioned on the lead in all three trials. Solidly built colt, like his black type-winning relatives FOUARDEE and SOJUSTREMEMBERTHIS.

KOKORO (RWICK 24 Sept, Heat 6)
(3c, Real Impact – Close To My Heart. Trainer: John O’Shea)
Another tidy unraced prospect from the O’Shea yard. Third barrier trial assignment resulted in this cracking finish over 1050m. Young sire has been doing well and he’s from the family of Euro G1 winners MACHIAVELLIAN, EXIT TO NOWHERE and COUP DE GENIE.
Nominated Newcastle October 2, 1400m Maiden.

OUR PLAYBOY (DOOMBEN 28 Sept, Heat 1)
(4g, Sebring – Mischief Night. Trainers: Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr)
Stylish chestnut cast in the mould of his dad, SEBRING. Won the G3 Winx Guineas (1600m) at most recent race start, but two trials have him primed. Won a Sunshine Coast trial then never off the bit finishing third in our featured Doomben trial this week. Loves give in the ground.
TAB: $51 Toorak Handicap; $26 Golden Eagle.

TINY (HBRY 27 Sept, Heat 5)
(4m, Lonhro – Miniature. Trainer: James Cummings)
Belies her name and we get the impression she’s underrated through eight race starts. She’s a two-time winner and hardly pressured inside classy CRIADERAS at Hawkesbury earlier this week. Fresh form is excellent, too.
