The Rupert Clarke has probably suffered at the hands of new race programming more than any other feature but it still throws up an interesting betting heat on Saturday.
At the head of the betting sits Begood Toya Mother and he belongs there in our view, with the Daniel Bowman-trained improver stamped as our bet of the day.
He took a winning streak in handicaps into the Memsie last time and worked hard early, setting up a big Group 1 time and just paying late on for doing a touch too much too soon.
That affords him a brilliant platform for the Rupert Clarke, the race he has been set for all along, and while he isn't the only runner here through that Memsie springboard he is the best handicapped and the one more likely to find a new peak on Saturday.
Throw in a high percentage racing pattern and a pretty-looking map and anything better than 2-1 looks worth taking to our eye.
It's a good card for each-way options with plenty of interesting angles littered all through the card.
One we can take a flyer on at big odds comes in the last with Inn Keeper a chance to go around completely friendless in the last despite holding a nice each way chance in our view.
He kicked off his spring prep at the Valley and didn't beat a runner home but depite that his effort actually rates okay in this field and 1100m around Caulfield, back against the handicapper, and with the edge off the track, seems a pretty good spot for him.
There are negatives as well, of course, but with 30-1 available now and potentially better on the day we think he is well worth having on side.
