The Davis Files - Sha Tin

Brett Davis - Selections - Sha Tin 27/05/20

It is meeting 74 of 88 and all roads lead to Sha Tin for this weeks Wednesday night fixture. The final All Weather(Dirt) meeting for the season shapes the night and there are nine extremely competitive races to sort through.

The All Weather meetings over the years have been consistently testing for form students, and often incredibly difficult to dissect with any reliable confidence. Tonight’s program has a similar look and aura about it, and you can confident juicy odds shall be flashing on the dividend board sometime throughout the night.

Jo Moreira also takes his one meeting suspension tonight creating another bonus round for Zac Purton, who is desperately trying to shake off the Brazilian Magic Man. With a full book of strong chances Purton again is likely to dispatch at least a couple into the back of the net and regain the title lead.

The pair over the years have been entangled in many marvellous displays of talent, will and incredible horsemanship. Last Sunday’s displayed was an exemplary performance from both riders. Let's hope each can perform error free over the final meetings of the season and no further suspensions interfere in this fabulous arm wrestle between two world class giants in the saddle.

R2 - 7,9,11,2,14

R3 - 9,11,8,7,3

Race 4

#3 King Shield despite not winning this season looks difficult to oppose. He is drawn barrier six and shall likely follow the leading division over to the rail initially, then hand up going through the first bend. He can conserve energy down the back until Purton feels it is time to get serious. He has shown in the past this surface is very much to his liking and I am expecting him to get the job done.
#1 Buddies has been a relentless competitor all season long.  The 10lb claimer Jerry Chau once again jumps board and he will be heading for the lead without doubt. It is impossible to suggest he cannot win again, but I feel he now is close to his mark.
#2 Glorious Artist has not been at his best recently but he is a quality animal on this surface. He won a similar race to this back in December and his latest effort at the valley was a solid performance in defeat.
#5 Raging Blitzkrieg has been another good money spinner for connections and shall make his presence felt. However, overall he has struggled to win at this level.
#4 Mongolian King in his last start win produced an amazing turn of foot the final 200m. If he produces that again he is hard to beat, but I am prepared on this occasion to take him on.

Race 9

In an extremely open affair to close the card I am happy to shop for some value throughout.
#10 Great Treasure as an 8yo continues to surprise with his aggressive passion for racing and to find the line. I have being overlooking him all season but on most occasions he is right amongst it when the race is there to be won. His trainer Me Tsui has for years been consistently winning races on the All Weather track with similar types of horses, and from the good draw I am prepared to give him a strong each way chance.
#13 California Argent is rock hard fit but still a Hong Kong maiden. He carries 5lb less tonight and has produced three very competitive runs over this course and distance in the past.
#7 Touch Of Luck won well last start and it was not a complete surprise. Despite the additional weight to shoulder he rates as a strong contender, who is currently racing at his peak and again drawn favourably.
#3 Ping Hai Treasure goes in 3rd up and has proven himself to be a genuine All Weather horse. His form last preparation was solid against runners that tonight are competing in class 2.
#12 London Luckystar had two-year-old form in England on similar surfaces to the All Weather and was huge in defeat two runs back. Last outing he was smashed in the betting to start favourite but could not get it done.
