Surgery goes well for for Costin

Racing NSW reported on Tuesday afternoon that jockey Winona Costin underwent surgery to her face at Norwest Hospital on Monday night by Dr Justine O'Hara. The surgery went well and her facial lacerations and deeper cuts were sutured. Winona has facial fractures that have to heal on their own and these will be monitored when the swelling subsides.

Costin was was dislodged from her mount behind the barriers, prior to Race 3 at Gundagai on Sunday. She was taken to Wagga Hospital with fractures to some of her facial bones, her nose and Maxilla before being transferred to Norwest Hospital on Monday for her surgery.
