Near the 550 Metres, STRIKING MR C (Apprentice C L Chau) shifted to the outside of VIVA COUNCIL into running which was available between that horse and LITTLE THUNDER which had shifted out when commencing to give ground. STRIKING MR C then shifted out marginally further and brushed LITTLE THUNDER which then became badly unbalanced when racing tight inside SUPER ALLIANCES. When LITTLE THUNDER became badly unbalanced, that horse shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of STRIKING MR C which was turned out, causing LITTLE THUNDER to then be severely checked when crowded for room between STRIKING MR C and SUPER ALLIANCES. Apprentice Chau was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that he had shifted out into running which was available for him, nonetheless in those circumstances he must ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting further ground, resulting in unnecessary crowding. In this incident, STRIKING MR C stumbled when unbalanced as a result of being bumped on the hindquarters by LITTLE THUNDER.
Throughout the race, FORTUNE HAPPINESS travelled wide and without cover.

After the 700 Metres, LUMEN BABA was awkwardly placed behind SIMPLE ELEGANT which lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position. When LUMEN BABA was awkwardly placed behind SIMPLE ELEGANT, LUMEN BABA shifted out away from the heels of that horse approaching the 650 Metres, resulting in GOOD FOR YOU being taken out and causing STRIVE FOR GLORY to be hampered.
Approaching the 100 Metres, ENSHRINED raced tight outside UTOPIA LIFE.
After the race, M F Poon (SIMPLE ELEGANT) stated that after being crossed by other runners in the early stages, his mount did not travel comfortably and became unbalanced in its action near the 1000 Metres. He said SIMPLE ELEGANT was always off the bridle during the race and he formed the opinion that the horse either did not appreciate racing behind other runners or resented the kickback. A veterinary inspection of SIMPLE ELEGANT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, Z Purton expressed concern regarding the action of STRIVE FOR GLORY behind. A veterinary inspection of STRIVE FOR GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EASY DAZZLING began awkwardly.
SUPER BULLET and MISSION SMART began only fairly.
From wide barriers, MONSTER KAKA and VICTORIOUS LEADER were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover in the early stages.

For the majority of the race, CIGAR BUDDIES travelled wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of CIGAR BUDDIES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CIGAR BUDDIES, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CIGAR BUDDIES will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned, Apprentice K H Chan (NUNCHUKS) stated that near the 550 Metres he commenced to direct NUNCHUKS to the outside of NOBLE DESIRE. He said at this time he received a call from the rider of POWER KING and as he felt that he was not sufficiently clear to continue to shift out, he steadied NUNCHUKS before again commencing to shift to the outside of NOBLE DESIRE near the 500 Metres. He said at this time he again received a call from the rider of POWER KING and therefore he directed his mount back in to resume his position behind NOBLE DESIRE as he felt that continuing to shift out would cause interference to POWER KING. He said as he commenced to shift back in, he then became aware that PERFECT PAIR had improved to be racing inside the heels of NUNCHUKS and therefore he directed his mount out abruptly after the 500 Metres to ensure that he did not cause interference to PERFECT PAIR. He added that this resulted in NUNCHUKS becoming unbalanced rounding the Home Turn.
A veterinary inspection of MONSTER KAKA immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of POWER KING and IMPECCABLE FELLOW immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PERFECT PAIR and MISSION SMART were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (797) MIRS BAY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1600 m

SACRED TIMING and CHEVALIER PRINCE bumped at the start.
BULLETPROOF began only fairly.
HAPPY WIN WIN, which was leaning on the outside of its barrier, began awkwardly. Then from a wide barrier, HAPPY WIN WIN was shifted across behind runners.
SUNNY POWER and SUN OF MAKFI bumped at the start.
For some distance approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, SUN OF MAKFI (B Shinn) proved very difficult and was awkwardly placed behind SANGRIA. SUM OF MAKFI then shifted out away from the heels of SANGRIA approaching the 1200 Metres when attempting to improve between SANGRIA and GORGEOUS INHERITOR where there was insufficient room. This resulted in GORGEOUS INHERITOR being shifted out to prevent causing interference to SUN OF MAKFI. B Shinn stated that SUN OF MAKFI continued to prove very difficult to settle and consequently was not able to finish off the race.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, HUMBLE STEED got its head up and was awkwardly placed inside SO WE JOY.

HAPPY WIN WIN then shifted out away from BULLETPROOF, causing HUMBLE STEED to be hampered when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY WIN WIN.
Throughout the race, GORGEOUS INHERITOR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. As this was the second consecutive occasion that GORGEOUS INHERITOR had finished tailed out in its races, the Stewards ruled that that horse must perform satisfactorily in not less than three consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. A veterinary inspection of GORGEOUS INHERITOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if APEX TOP had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the videos, it was established that immediately prior to the start being effected, APEX TOP became fractious and put its head down, resulting in its rider, C Schofield, becoming unbalanced and reaching out with his right hand onto the barrier structure to regain balance. It was further established that when he did this, the start was effected and this resulted in APEX TOP losing a considerable amount of ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that APEX TOP had caused its own difficulties by becoming fractious just prior to the start being effected and that the Starter could not have been in a position to anticipate APEX TOP’s behaviour, that horse was found to have been afforded a fair start and accordingly was declared a runner. Whilst it did not influence the decision of the Stewards, neither C Schofield nor the connections of APEX TOP made application for the horse to be declared a non-runner. Before being allowed to race again, APEX TOP will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
A veterinary inspection of TELECOM ROCKET, SUN OF MAKFI and APEX TOP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SO WE JOY and CHEVALIER PRINCE were sent for sampling.

Near the 650 Metres, CIRCUIT GLORY got its head up when awkwardly placed behind NATURAL WINNER. AWE, which was following CIRCUIT GLORY, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, CIRCUIT GLORY was awkwardly placed behind NATURAL WINNER. Then passing the 400 Metres, CIRCUIT GLORY was shifted to the inside of NATURAL WINNER to obtain clear running.

Passing the 500 Metres, SHINING GEM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAGIC LEGEND.
Near the 350 Metres, LUCKY EXPRESS got its head on the side and lay in before being directed to the outside of ALL IN MIND to obtain clear running.

J Moreira (LUCKY EXPRESS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MAGIC LEGEND, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting to be conducted at Happy Valley on Wednesday, 15 July 2020. In addition, Jockey Moreira was fined $150,000.
