Race 1 - SPORTSBET SET A DEPOSIT LIMIT HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

I'm Kenough Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since January 2024 after sequestrum surgery and bone fragment removal from the left hind cannon, and was passed suitable to race. Hampered at the start when contacted by Clean Reef. Raced wide and without cover throughout.

Supercilious Began awkwardly.

Clean Reef Began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with I'm Kenough.

Cora Lynn Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 700m when racing keenly was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Interest Point. Experienced some difficulty obtaining clear running between the 500m and the 400m. Rider Celine Gaudray reported the filly was agitated pre-race, overraced and as a result failed to finish the race off as expected.

 

Race 2 ive > HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Gallant Prince Change of tactics: attempt to ride with cover. Eased from the start. Settled worse than midfield.

Mislead Hampered at the start when tightened for room.

La Fracas (IRE) Rider Jordan Childs reported it had been his intention to settle midfield, however from the wide barrier draw, his mount settled further back than intended. Jordan Childs added the colt may now be looking to contest events of a greater distance.

Krementz (NZ) (4th placegetter). Ethan Brown pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race. Ethan Brown was fined $300. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

 

Race 3 - VALE FR BRENDAN DILLON - 1400 metres:

Name Dropper (NZ) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since August 2023, and was passed suitable to race.

Hokkaido (NZ) Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1100m when racing keenly was checked off the heels of Oceans Above (NZ).

Russian Meteor Slow to begin. Rider Carleen Hefel reported her mount raced keenly in the early stages and failed to finish the race off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

Truffle Finder Slow into stride. Raced three wide and without cover throughout.

Lake Tai (NZ) Slow into stride. Under pressure from the 600m before being eased down near the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right hind leg. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again.

Outta Compton Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

 

Race 4 EVERGREEN TURF HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

Stellar Mofeed Change of tactics: intention to be ridden more forward. Began awkwardly before being hampered by Nodachi which shifted in. Settled midfield. Held up for a short distance approaching the 400m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. The Corstens stable were severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR100(1)(b) for failing to notify the change of tactics prior to 30 minutes of the advertised start time of the race.

Hearcomesthestar Fractious in the barriers.

Claymore Mine Slow to begin.

Matawai (NZ) Raced three wide and without cover throughout.

Socially Sassy Raced keenly in the middle stages.

Batrana Held up from the 500m before gaining clear running near the 350m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the right foreleg. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again.

 

Race 5 SPORTSBET FAST FORM HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Precious Charm Change of tactics: intention to be ridden further back. Restrained from the start. Settled worse than midfield. Steadied near the 600m after shifting out to improve and became unbalanced after making contact with Korobeiniki.

Princess Rayaa Difficult to load. The Maher stable was notified a warning would be recorded against the mare.

Arqana Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m until approaching the 150m.

Speak (GB) Slow into stride.

Chandon Burj Restrained in the early stages. Settled at the rear of the field.

Cindy Falls (NZ) Raced wide through the early stages before crossing to settle outside the leader near the 900m.

Queen Of Tuscany Near the 1000m was steadied and carried in when tightened for room to the inside of Blue Moon (NZ) (J. Kennedy) which shifted in. Rider Jaylah Kennedy was spoken to advisedly. Held up from the 500m to the 350m.

Korobeiniki Near the 600m became unbalanced after being brushed by Precious Charm which shifted out to improve.

Roadie Laid out under pressure in the straight.

Blue Moon (NZ) Approaching the 600m was disappointed for a run when attempting to shift out and improve to the inside of Roadie where there was insufficient room. Rider Jaylah Kennedy was spoken to advisedly. Jaylah Kennedy reported the mare felt uncomfortable in its action when returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 6 QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Convict Sam Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since April 2022 after a right fore tendon injury, and was passed suitable to race.

Hennessy Lad (NZ) Change of tactics: intention to be ridden more forward. Began awkwardly, resulting in its rider, Luke Nolen, being struck in the face and becoming unbalanced. Settled at the rear of the field. Luke Nolen was examined by the RV Doctor and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagement.

Look Closely (GB) Raced keenly in the early stages.

Chartres Raced three wide and without cover throughout.

Crackerjack Prince Rider Declan Bates reported it had not been his intention to settle outside the leader, however after beginning well and due to the lack of early speed, the gelding was able to settle more prominently.

 

Race 7 LOCKETTLED.AU HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

 

Bookman Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since June 2023 after hoof issues, and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin. Rider Teo Nugent was spoken to advisedly regarding his use of the whip on his mount which was out of contention.

Port Albert Change of tactics: attempt to ride with cover. Settled midfield.

Rattle And Bang Change of tactics: attempt to ride with cover. Settled in a handy position outside the leaders. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Scissor Step Began awkwardly.

Rocket Tiger Raced keenly in the early stages.

Direct Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 350m.

Etienne Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Wondereach Approaching the 200m experienced some difficulty obtaining clear running to the inside of Squad.

Home Rule A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the left fore heel bulb.

Too Close The Sun Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since July 2022 after a left fore tendon injury, and was passed suitable to race.

Windstorm Slow to begin before being steadied when tightened for room.

Showmanship (NZ) Slow to begin.

Blondeau Raced wide and without cover throughout.

Regardsmaree Raced four wide and without cover throughout.

Through Irish Eyes (NZ) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since August 2022 after a right fore tendon injury, and was passed suitable to race.

Star Of India (IRE) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since October 2022 after a left fore tendon injury, and was passed suitable to race.

Deepstrike (NZ) Slow to begin.

Wyclif (GB) Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Smokin' Romans (NZ) Raced wide through the early stages before crossing to settle outside the leader near the 1100m.

Pounding Raced wide through the early stages before crossing to obtain the lead near the 1100m. Rider Luke Nolen reported it had not been the intention to lead, however when caught wide, he elected to stride forward.

Pudding (NZ) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Normandy Bridge (FR) Near the 1500m was steadied when tightened for room between Pudding (NZ) and Pounding, both of which shifted ground marginally. Near the 50m was steadied when racing in restricted room between Pudding (NZ) and Wyclif (GB).

Gregolimo (FR) Held up from the 500m until shortly after passing the 200m. Near the 50m was steadied when tightened for room between Smokin' Romans (NZ) which shifted out marginally and Jimmy The Bear (T. Stockdale) which shifted in. Rider Thomas Stockdale was reprimanded.

Beltoro Rider Teo Nugent reported he was instructed to utilise the favourable draw and settle in a forward position.

Supplementary Report

Rider Luke Nolen pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 188(c) in that from on or about 2 August 2023, he weighed out with a Racelite imitation safety vest on more than one occasion, such vest not being compliant with AR 123(1). Luke Nolen was fined $2000.
