Race 1 TOBIN BROTHERS CELEBRATING LIVES HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

Queen Annabel Slow to begin. Apprentice Matthew Cartwright was fined $200 under the provisions of AR232(b) in that he failed to comply with a requirement of the Stewards to be present in the mounting yard prior to Race 1.

Twist Of Fury Bounded at the start. Weakened from passing the 200m. Apprentice Lachlan Neindorf could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Modear Held up for clear running when laying in from the 450m until approaching the 350m.

Deroche Disappointing. Rider Craig Newitt could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 2 IVE > PRINT PLATE 1400 metres:

I Am Vinnie Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since December 2020, and was passed suitable to race. Reared at the start and struck its head on the overhead rail of the starting stalls and was slow to begin. Post-race endoscopy of I Am Vinnie detected a degree of internal exercise‑induced pulmonary haemorrhage which may have affected the horse's racing performance. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again.

Single Handed Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since April 2020 due to a suspensory injury, and was passed suitable to race.

Milton Park Began awkwardly.

Renegade Began awkwardly.

Legend Of Zorro Began awkwardly.

Barbie's Fox Began awkwardly.

Do You Reckon Sprawled at the start and began awkwardly. Raced keenly through the early and middle stages.

The General (NZ) Raced keenly with its head up through the early and middle stages.

Embolism Raced three wide without cover.

Frankie Pinot Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Smart Image Eased down in the straight. Rider Brett Prebble reported the gelding felt awkward in its action. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 3 TILE IMPORTER HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Linas Legend Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 200m and then shortly afterwards failed to run on.

Kooled Raced keenly through the early and middle stages. Was allowed to stride forward passing the 1000m and then raced three wide without cover. Approaching the 200m was brushed by Linas Legend which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Three Kings Near the 800m when making ground onto the heels of Prix De Turn (NZ) shifted in abruptly and away from that colt.

Deprivation When beginning to give ground passing the 200m raced in restricted room to the inside of Taunting, which was laying in, for several strides. Rider Brett Prebble could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 4 JIM MOLONEY STAKES - LISTED - 1400 metres:

Correct weight was delayed to enable rider Dean Holland (Fortunate Kiss, 5th placegetter) to view the Stewards' patrol footage over the concluding stages before deciding not to lodge an objection.

Mac 'N' Cheese Slow to begin. Disappointing. Rider Luke Currie could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

Biscayne Bay Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Steadied near the 200m when tightened for room by Literary Magnate (D. Yendall) which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. After taking into account the racing manners of Literary Magnate, Stewards took no further action, other than to advise Dean Yendall to exercise care in similar circumstances. Near the 100m steadied away from the heels of Literary Magnate which was shifting out after having been steadied off the heels of Zouzarella.

Literary Magnate Shortly after the start shifted in abruptly. Steadied when taken out off its course near the 800m by Biscayne Bay which had been taken out by Douceur. Approaching the 100m steadied when shifting out slightly towards the heels of Zouzarella (B. Prebble) which was shifting in when not fully clear. Brett Prebble was notified to exercise more care.

Fortunate Kiss Hampered at the start by Biscayne Bay which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Raced in restricted room passing the 100m when disappointed for running between Picarones and Queen Of Dubai (J. Childs) which was shifting out under pressure. Jordan Childs was notified to exercise more care.

Queen Of Dubai Raced keenly through the early and middle stages.

Picarones Passing the 100m rider Damien Oliver, when using his whip in the right hand, struck the whip of Craig Williams, rider of Vianello.

Vianello Over the concluding stages rider Craig Williams, when using his whip in the left hand, made contact with Picarones with his whip.

 

Race 5 LADBROKES SANDOWN STAKES - GROUP 3 - 1500 metres:

Romancer (NZ) Raced three wide without cover.

Harbour Views Held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 200m.

Ziegfeld (GB) Weakened from the 300m. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame in the off foreleg. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again.

 

Race 6 THE BIG SCREEN COMPANY HANDICAP - 1800 metres:

Furrion (GB) Late scratching at 8.58 am, veterinary advice.

Cormorant (IRE) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival and was passed suitable to race. Change of tactics: intention to lead. Led.

Skyman (GB) Made the turn awkwardly near the 1000m.

Zayydani (NZ) Laid in from passing the 300m.

 

Race 7 - QUAYCLEAN UNDERWOOD STAKES - GROUP 1 - 1800 metres:

Probabeel (NZ) Bumped at the start by Fifty Stars (IRE) which jumped outwards.

Superstorm Raced three wide without cover.

Fifty Stars (IRE) A distant last. Rider John Allen reported it was not his intention to lead on the horse, however due to the slow tempo he found himself further forward than at its most recent starts and could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 8 BECK PROBUILD TESTA ROSSA STAKES LISTED - 1300 metres:

Met Spectrum (GB) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since June 2020, and was passed suitable to race. Bled both nostrils. Trainer Greg Eurell was advised that this was the second occasion the gelding had bled from both nostrils, therefore acting under the provisions of AR79(6), Met Spectrum (GB) will now incur a lifetime ban from racing in Australia.

Begood Toya Mother Change of tactics: more forward. Jumped away well and settled outside the leader.

Justacanta (NZ) Slow to begin.

Ironclad (GB) Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover.

Chaillot Held up for clear running from the 400m until shifting out from the 300m.

King Of Hastings Led and weakened from the 250m. Rider Jye McNeil could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

Hightail Weakened from the 150m. Rider Brett Prebble dropped his whip passing the 200m. Brett Prebble reported that the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 9 EVERGREEN TURF HANDICAP - 1800 metres:

Auyantepui (GB) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival, having not raced since October 2020, and was passed suitable to race.

Harmysian (GB) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival and was passed suitable to race. Steadied at the 1000m to avoid the heels of Auyantepui (GB) who in turn had been eased to avoid the heels of War Critic (NZ) which was also being steadied due to the tempo easing. Held up for clear running from the 400m and went to the line not fully tested. When questioned, rider Jamie Mott explained he was unable to shift out at the top of the straight to seek running as he was committed inside the heels of other runners and he therefore elected to position behind the runners back towards the inside, but having done so was unable to obtain clear running.

Rebel Racer Raced three wide without cover.

War Critic (NZ) Got its head up when being restrained near the 1000m due to the slow tempo.

Flexible Rider Damien Oliver reported that the mare, which was stepping up in class, would be better suited on tracks with more give. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Aussie Nugget (IRE) Rider Jye McNeil reported that in his opinion the gelding may have resented racing inside other runners.
