RACE 1: James Squire Handicap 1150m:

Fiorenza– In the early stages got its head up before being shifted behind runners from its wide barrier. Raced keenly in the early stages and was difficult to settle.

 

Kilbady– On jumping bumped Choice Legend. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event and was eased out of the event near the 350m, revealed the filly to have cardiac arrhythmia. As this was the first occasion, trainer Ms A. Turner was advised was advised of the provisions of the Racing Australia Code of Practice under AR88B(2)(b).

 

Choice Legend– On jumping bumped Kilbady.

 

Bella Corazon– Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages and was difficult to settle.

 

I Found You– J. McDonald was permitted to ride the filly a half kilogram over its allocated weight of 55.5kgs. After arriving behind the barriers, the filly was found to have aggravated an old minor abrasion on the near-hind pastern, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race.

 

Asteride– Near the 800m had to be steadied from the heels of Erotas (R. Jones), which shifted in when not fully clear. R. Jones was advised to exercise more care.

RACE 2: TAB Handicap 1150m:

Detendu– On jumping bumped Scorching Legend. Near the 1000m became momentarily unbalanced when bumped by Rebel Rhapsody, which laid out.

 

Mostro– R. Bayliss reported that it was his intention to lead the event. He said that after riding his mount aggressively in the early stages Mostro failed to show the necessary speed to obtain the lead and he was obliged to settle behind the leaders. He added that Mostro would be better suited when stepped up in distance and able to obtain the lead and dictate terms. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

 

Altair I Am– On jumping bumped Rebel Rhapsody. From a wide barrier Altair I Am then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Rebel Rhapsody– On jumping bumped Altair I Am. Near the 1000m laid out and in doing so made contact with Detendu. Shortly after, due to Detendu shifting in and making slight contact with Rebel Rhapsody, Rebel Rhapsody then had to be steadied and became unbalanced. T. Clark reported that after receiving contact near the 1000m Rebel Rhapsody did not feel comfortable in its action, laid out rounding the home turn and weakened in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Ms S. Ryan confirmed that Rebel Rhapsody will now be spelled. Notwithstanding this advice, Ms Ryan was advised that Rebel Rhapsody would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being permitted to race again.

 

Scorching Legend– On jumping bumped Detendu.

 

RACE 3: Hyland Race Colours Handicap 2400m:

Hiawatha– Stumbled on jumping. J. Collett reported that the gelding overraced throughout the event and, as a consequence, was left without a finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Ms A. Neasham advised that Hiawatha will now be spelled.

 

Awesome Wonder– On jumping bumped Just Go Bang.

 

Just Go Bang– On jumping bumped Awesome Wonder.

 

Girl With Balloon– As J. Lloyd was indisposed, Stewards approved App. Z. Lloyd as the replacement rider.

 

Kadavar– Stumbled on jumping. Held up briefly rounding the home turn.

 

RACE 4: Toyota Forklifts Plate 1400m:

Cathedral Cove – On jumping bumped Jawharat Dubai.

 

Charming Legend – Approaching the 400m raced greenly when placed under pressure and passing the 400m, when endeavouring to shift to the outside of Wild Flash, became awkwardly placed at that runner’s heels.

 

Wild Flash – A. Hyeronimus reported that after obtaining a position outside the leader, Cathedral Cove, Wild Flash travelled strongly throughout the middle stages. He added that after placing Wild Flash under pressure in the straight, the colt appeared to be experiencing some breathing issues and after weakening noticeably from the 300m, when out of contention, he desisted from continuing to pressure Wild Flash for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr P. Cleave was advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, will be required before Wild Flash barrier trials to the satisfaction of Stewards.

 

Wipeout – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Jawharat Dubai – J. McDonald was permitted to ride the filly one kilogram over its allocated weight of 55kgs. On jumping bumped Cathedral Cove.

 

RACE 5: Triple Time @ Darley Handicap 1000m:

Morpheus Bragi– On jumping bumped Layin’ Four. Shortly after the start hung out. Raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the 600m when continuing to race keenly shifted out and was checked off the heels of Layin’ Four. The racing manners were brought to the attention of trainer Mr M. Chevalier.

 

Rebel Dean– Held up in the early part of the home straight before shifting to the inside of runners approaching the 300m to secure clear running.

 

Apic Run– On jumping bumped Grand Larceny.

 

Grand Larceny– On jumping bumped Apic Run. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

 

Layin’ Four– On jumping bumped Morpheus Bragi. P. Wells was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of Layin’ Four. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained superficial abrasions to the near-hind pastern and a laceration to the off-hind pastern. Trainer Mr A. Mountney undertook to report back to the Stewards in the days subsequent the results of an endoscopic examination.

 

Art Volant– Jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start was steadied from the heels of Morpheus Bragi, which hung outwards. Art Volant then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

RACE 6: Headwater @ Vinery Stud Handicap 1400m:

Cross The Rubicon– From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Smart Little Miss– A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

 

Zouphoria– T. Clark reported that after leading, as anticipated, Zouphoria, did not handle the Heavy track conditions and failed to finish off the race.

 

Kahawaty– Jumped awkwardly. App. M. Owen reported that after beginning only fairly the mare failed to show any early speed from an outside barrier. She added that when caught wide, rather than restrain her mount to obtain a position with cover toward the rear of the field, she allowed the mare to remain where comfortable, albeit in a three-wide position and without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Kahawaty to be displaying a poor recovery. Stable representative Mr J. Crowley was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required before Kahawaty is permitted to race/barrier trial again.

 

Nanshe– From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Until Valhalla– Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Waikiki– T. Berry reported that shortly after straightening and after placing the mare under pressure, Waikiki failed to respond, and when giving ground near the 200m he desisted from continuing to pressure his mount. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of Waikiki in the days subsequent.

 

RACE 7: Robrick Lodge Handicap 1400m:

Green Shadows– On jumping was bumped by Start Line which shifted in. From a wide barrier Green Shadows then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Dr Evil– On jumping was bumped when crowded for room between Pure Alpha and Olivia’s Spirit, which jumped awkwardly and shifted in.

 

Olivia’s Spirit– A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on the off-hind leg.

 

Convincebility– On jumping bumped Headley Grange.

 

Pure Alpha– Approaching the 300m was briefly held up when shifting out from behind Convincebility and across the heels of Bunker Hut to secure clear running.

 

Start Line– Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Green Shadows. Raced very wide and without cover throughout the event. Approaching the 400m became unbalanced momentarily after being bumped by Sing A Love Song, which shifted out.

 

Headley Grange– On jumping bumped Convincebility. From a wide barrier Headley Grange then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

The Englishman– Slow to begin.

 

The Carpet Bagger– Shortly after the start was bumped by Green Shadows, which was taken in by Start Line, which shifted in. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

 

Sing A Love Song– Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m, to secure clear running, shifted out and bumped Start Line. Laid out under pressure in the early part of the home straight and proved difficult to test.

The Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR132(7)(a)(ii). Bearing in mind the totality of whip use, no action was taken.
