Kim Waugh’s Our Century (IRE) relished the Soft 6 Randwick track on Saturday and the eight-year-old galloped the rest of the seven horse field into the ground to win the $140,000, listed Christmas Cup (2400m).
Waugh has carefully managed the ex-William’s owned gelding and he has now won two of his three races this campaign with a second in the other in the listed ATC Cup over 2000m last start.
Our Century (58.5kg) under Jason Collett tracked the early leader Heartlet and Andrew Adkins until the 400m and once Collett send him away coming off the rise the race was in their keeping.
Exoteric (GB) (Champs Elysees) (57.5kg) and James McDonald chased for second with the margin 1 3/4L and the veteran and top-weight Destiny’s Kiss (Power Of Destiny) (59kg) and Jay Ford were third, the margin 1 1/2L.
The time was 2.31.09 with the final 600m in 36.26.

Matthew Dale sent Fell Swoop (57.5kg) out in the listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) and the seven-year-old Not A Single Doubt gelding saluted with ease under a good tactical ride by Hugh Bowman.
The pace was steady across the High Street straight and Bowman took the moment to take over the lead and that was there they stayed. They went up and over the hill at the 400m and then Bowman sent Fell Swoop away and they dropped the field nicely.
It was the first win for Fell Swoop since his April 2016 Group 2 Victory Stakes win at Doomben, but he has consistently raced at the top level for most of his career as his stakes earnings of $1,900,170 suggest. Overall this was his 10th win from 31 starts.
Cradle Mountain (53kg) and Jason Collett was second with Firsthand (54kg) and Tommy Berry third, the margins 2L and a long head.
The time was 1.10.81 with the final 600m in 36.58.
It was the third win of the programme for Bowman after earlier wins on Deprive and Accession.
