Kranji's Sunday meeting preview

The Lion City Cup in October?

You bet!

The Covid year continues to throw up what will be anomalies in the history books and the only Group 1 sprint on the Singapore racing calendar will be run and won on Sunday with the Guineas winner - INFERNO - the biggest beneficiary of the date change.

Already, INFERNO will go down in ‘Covid History’ as a four-year-old winner of the three-year-old Classic, and the best horse in Singapore can add another Group 1 to what is a remarkable CV.

Some pundits will argue that the step up to Open Weight-For Age Group 1 Company and the drop back to 1200m from the mile is a tough ask for any horse, however, we will counter-argue that INFERNO is not just any horse and the race is his to lose.

And truth be told, this edition of the Lion City Cup is not the strongest that will head to the 1200m start and it will be fitting if the Holy Roman Emperor gelding can add his name to the honour board which includes Rocket Man an incredible four times.

Vlad Duric will be hoping INFERNO will be just one winner on a day that could see the champion jockey extend his lead over Ruan Maia in the premiership, which now stands at five after the Brazilian pegged two back last Saturday.

The battle between the two in-form hoops is a riveting sideshow to the races and while our money is on Vlad to win again, Ruan will keep him honest deep into December.

Best Bets: (BLUESTONE race 3, win), (INFERNO race 10, win), and (THE AUGUST race 5, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 8 (1, 2, 4, 6 and 7), race 9 (4, 6 and 7), race 10 (8), race 11 (1, 3, 6, 7 and 8).

Race 1

An extremely tough opener with many winning hopes and, with little separating the six or so that we think can win, it could be the jockeys that make the difference. And given it has been a Duric and Maia show of late at Kranji, the two leading hoops on MOWGLI and LOVING BABE respectively, should figure in the finish. Coincidentally, Ruan Maia replaces Duric on LOVING BABE and from gate 4 you would expect another bold showing after only finding a swooper better last start. Duric jumps on MOWGLI for the first time and his vigour won't hurt the maidens chances with gate 4 a bonus. But there may be value elsewhere and the likes of HERO STAR down in grade and ATLANTEAN should figure heavily in this finish, while I'M A CONQUEROR from gate 2 could try to run them all off their feet at odds. DECRETO one more that wins without surprising and go wider still in exotics. Betting Strategy - HERO STAR each-way.

1 BRACED * Will improve lengths dropping to Class 5 but should need longer to win and happy to wait. 33

2 HERO STAR *** Placed in Class 4 three back and won well last time in Class 5. Hard to beat. 8.00

3 LOVING BABE *** Backed up maiden win with a bold effort in similar affair last start. Hard to run down here. 3.00

4 MOWGLI *** Maiden who looks due and Duric from gate 3 looks a good combination. 5.00

5 STARDICE ** Had issues (heart and respiratory) at his last two starts but recent trial solid, was due prior and pay to keep safe for new stable. 20

6 CIZEN LUCKY ** Backed up surprise win with solid effort in similar affair to this and expect much the same. 12

7 PERFORMANTE ** Drawn a tad sticky but excuses last start (lame) and has subsequently trialled well enough to consider. 20

8 ATLANTEAN *** Disappointing when dropping to Class 5 last start but handles the Poly and will win sooner than later in this Company so keep safe. 12

9 DUSSELDORF ** Draw a concern but ran on well from the rear last start and will work into exotic calculations late. 20

10 SUPER SPEED * Battled away this Class last start and wide gate suggests another day. 33

11 I'M A CONQUEROR *** Did some work on pace before fading late this grade last start and worth another look from gate 2 sans tongue-tie. 12

12 DECRETO *** Backed up win with three starts back with two close up finishes and have to respect. 6.00

13 MILIMILI * Needs to improve and may be better on the turf. 33

14 JUMPIN JACK * Battling. 100

Race 2

If you thought the opener had depth, this Restricted Maiden has at least eight horses that win without surprising, including the first emergency - GOLDEN SPRINT. In fact given what he showed late after an extremity tough run on debut, GOLDEN SPRINT will have plenty of admirers to win if he gets a start, so keep an eye on scratching’s on the day. But as it stands, LIM'S DREAMWALKER has the benefit of two eye-catching runs, gets gate 2 and he should finish the 1400m strongly and be hard to hold out. The horse he may have to pass late to win is DAY APPROACH who had everything bar the swooper beat last start and is overdue, while ORACLE could also give a sight with blinkers added and he should be value after a poor debut. MARINE VANGUARD is another big improver with the addition of blinkers, while the Fitzsimmons pair of ACE SOVEREIGN and GOLDEN ONE will both be strong late. TONY'S LOVE an improver at odds and TIGAROUS for exotics with Maia up. Betting Strategy - MARINE VANGUARD each-way.

1 DAY APPROACH *** Has been costly for favourite backers but only collared late last start and is obviously due so can win. 3.00

2 TWELFTH NIGHT * Disappointing last start but did do it tough so could improve sans winkers. 33

3 LEGGENDA * Gate 1 helps but needs to improve. 100

4 TIGAROUS ** Loomed some hope in straight last start before battling late but should figure in this finish. 9.00

5 MARINE VANGUARD *** Only battled last start but looked to have plenty in hand at a recent trial with blinkers added so look for big improvement at value. 20

6 SUNDAY * Should improve with racing but like to see improvement before considering. 50

7 ACE SOVEREIGN *** No luck at the barriers again but runs on well, 1400m will suit and should figure late. 12

8 GOLDEN ONE *** Draw a concern but another Fitzsimmons maiden who has been running on strongly and can consider. 8.00

9 HENG XING * Gets blinkers but hard to have on debut effort. 50

10 JERAM GOLD * NZ-bred 3YO who didn't need the wide gate on debut but has shown some improvement at the trials. 33

11 LIM'S DREAMWALKER *** Excuses at both start and effort late at most recent run has him right in this with gate 2 a bonus. 3.00

12 ORACLE *** Flopped on debut after impressive trial form but gets blinkers added on the back of another good trial and worth thought. 12

13 SPLIT SECOND ** Race form terrible but trials good enough to think he can improve with blinkers added. 50

14 TONY'S LOVE *** Enough excuses for unplaced debut run to think he has more to offer and will be value with winkers added. 20

15 GOLDEN SPRINT *** Grew wings late after tough run on debut to place and hard to hold out over 1400m. 4.00

16 DIMESSO * Needs to improve on debut effort. 100

Race 3

This Class 4 Poly sprint does look a top-heavy affair with BLUESTONE and the undefeated HEAVENLY DANCER the two that punters will flock to. BLUESTONE has the advantage of a massive drop in Class and given he comes off a placing in Class 3 after a crack at Group Company, he only has to bring his 'A' game to this race to win with gate 2 a bonus. In saying that, HEAVENLY DANCER is two-from-two and looks both versatile and progressive enough to overcome the wide gate with Duric taking the ride. This should be a race in two, however, if it does get silly out front, two swoopers in ROYAL PAVILION and WINNING LEGEND could provide some value, with a blanket over UNCONQUERED, LONGHU, QIJI ACHEEVA and CHALAZA (second emergency) for exotics. Betting Strategy - BLUESTONE win, forecast with HEAVENLY DANCER.

1 BLUESTONE *** Significant drop in Class and very hard to hold out on best form. 3.00

2 HEAVENLY DANCER *** Drawn wide but will be strong late on what he has shown winning at both starts. 2.00

3 UNCONQUERED ** Always some hope but gate may see him found out late. 12

4 SUN NOBLE * Form hopeless since arriving but appreciates better gate so could improve at odds. 50

5 ME NO MARSH MELLOW * Recent trial solid, drawn to advantage and gets blinkers but needs to improve on efforts since coming from Malaysia 33

6 LONGHU ** Showed last start why he is a better option on the Poly and a must for exotics. 12

7 QIJI ACHEEVA ** Race form starting to read badly but should improve on the back of a good trial in a race that suits. 20

8 ROYAL PAVILION ** Swooper who plays a part at odds if race run to suit. 20

9 LIM'S SHOT * Gate 1 helps but needs Class 5. 20

10 HELUSHKA * Needs longer and easier. 50

11 SUPER GREAT * Last win was over 1100m in this grade but battled when resuming and like to see more. 50

12 WINNING LEGEND ** Grew wings late to place last start in this Company an have to respect in exotics. 20

13 FIRE AWAY * Needs to improve. 50

14 CHALAZA ** Always an each-way show in races like this with gate 4 a bonus. 20

Race 4

Selections; 11 MIEJ - 12 I AM THE STAR - 1 MR FAT KIDDY - 4 HAPPY FRIDAY

At first glance this maiden looked ordinary at best but a second look suggests an intriguing affair and the market will be a terrific guide on the day. The obvious are the three horses that come off last start placings and MR FAT KIDDY, HAPPY FRIDAY and MIEJ all should figure heavily. Of that trio, the form around MIEJ looks very good and happy to think Duric from gate 4 has him hardest to beat. MR FAT KIDDY is certainly due and may have started favourite but a wide gate will test given he likes to go forward. HAPPY FRIDAY has drawn better and showed last start that blinkers are a factor and he may look the winner at some stage. The interesting runner is I AM THE STAR and this is where the tote will give us something to go on. Obviously the 5YO mare has shown nothing at the races but a recent trial with blinkers and tongue-tie added was very good so she could easily surprise with Maia a factor. Take your pick of the rest for skinny end of exotics. Betting Strategy - MIEJ win, saver on I AM THE STAR.

1 MR FAT KIDDY *** Wide draw always a concern but just missed last start, should go forward and be hard to run down. 5.00

2 KING MIDAS ** Only battled last start but gate 1 helps and should run a prominent race. 12

3 ALL WE KNOW ** Had his chances but always looks some show with best work expected late. 6.00

4 HAPPY FRIDAY *** Improved lengths when blinkers went on last start and very positive run expected. 8.00

5 VOLUNTAD ** Wide gate tested last start so better suited here and will be value. 20

6 NINGALOO ** Honest enough and can figure in exotics but probably needs to find a length or two to win. 12

7 PHAXE * Gets blinkers back on but recent OK form on the Poly so take on trust. 20

8 MORE THAN OIL * Battles at the races. 50

9 WONOSOBO * Didn't need the wide gate. 100

10 NOVA FACTOR ** First beaten when leading last start but subsequent trial suggests he could improve at odds. 20

11 MIEJ *** Ran into a good one when running on well to place last start and hard to hold outing this field from gate 4. 3.00

12 I AM THE STAR *** Super disappointing at the races but gets blinkers (and tongue-tie) on first time and recent trial with headgear very good so could surprise. 12

13 BITCOIN KING * Value going down. 100

14 MICHAELEARNSTOROCK * Hard to have on debut effort but gets blinkers so could improve. 50

16 CRU BOURGEOIS *** Disappointing last start but form prior good enough to have a say. 12

Race 5

With the exception of a couple of dead-set Polytrack specialists, most horses in this Class 3 turf sprint look winning hopes on best form and you could expect the favourite to probably be close to each-way odds. GOLD STAR gets Duric and may well be favourite and while he does look a better winning option over 1400m, he had excuses last start and will be strong late in a race that suits. THE AUGUST also had plenty of excuses last start and is worth thought on his win prior and will be value at his first run for Lee Freedman. LIM'S PASSION could be hard to beat on best form - he was just beaten by Mr Malek two back this trip - and gate 4 helps his cause, while GOLDEN FLAME is honest, had excuses and gets Maia so has to be a show. SIAM WARRIOR, SO YOU TOO, MASTER RYKER and LEGEND OF THE SUN all in the winning mix. Betting Strategy - GOLD STAR win, saver on THE AUGUST.

1 SIAM WARRIOR *** Drawn wide but Class 3 is his winning caper and must be respected. 12

2 GOLD STAR *** Recent wins over 1400m but excuses last start not to win and will be flying late with Duric a factor. 5.00

3 DRAGON DUKE * Company suits but best form on the Poly and looks a risk here. 33

4 SO YOU TOO *** Just missed last start in similar affair and gets his chance from better gate. 7.00

5 MASTER RYKER *** Disappointing as fave last start in similar affair but worth another look from gate 3. 8.00

6 RED ROVER * Only battled when resuming and prefer on the Poly. 50

7 THE AUGUST *** Ignore last start when not tested in traffic in straight and keep very safe for new stable. 20

8 WASSERGEIST ** Respiratory issues after poor run last start and some hope on best form with solid recent trial under his belt. 20

9 NO FUN NO GAIN ** Has been disappointing in this Company but gate shave tested so worth another look from the ace. 20

10 LEGEND OF THE SUN *** Showed last start with support why the turf is his caper and can follow. 7.00

11 LIM'S PASSION *** Ran on late as expected last start over 1000m and much better suited here sans tongue-tie. Goes very close on recent Mr Malek turf 1200m form. 5.00

12 ABSOLVIDO ** Drawn wide and up in Class after last start win but will be running on and competitive on his day. 20

13 GOLDEN FLAME *** Honest, versatile and excuses not to finish closer last start over 1400m. Goes close. 8.00

14 DIAMOND BEAUTY * May need easier. 50

15 SURGE * Gets blinkers added but looks a better prospect on the Poly. 33

16 PROOF PERFECT * Needs easier. 100

Race 6

Obviously - given it's a maiden mile - all struggle to win but a quartet in CLARTON SUPREME, SHOWCASE THE GOLD, SUN HOLIDAY and WHERE SHE'S HAPPY all look due and gets their chance today. The tote will be a good guide on the day but you would imagine WHERE SHE'S HAPPY goes close to starting favourite on form with Duric up, and she will look the winner at some stage. SUN HOLIDAY will contend for favouritism given the Irish maiden has placed at two starts in Singapore and from a fair gate, Harry Kassim will give him every chance. CLARTON SUPREME placed last start and will figure on a repeat of that effort and SHOWCASE THE GOLD will very much appreciate being back in Maiden Company and may sneak out to value with blinkers added for good measure. Numbers 8, 9 and 10 for exotics. Betting Strategy - SHOWCASE THE GOLD each-way.

1 NEWTON * Comes under notice with Maia but form ordinary and gate will test. 33

2 CLARTON SUPREME *** Led and kept the winner honest over 1400m last start and this race is no harder. 6.00

3 FLASH THE FLAG * Hard to have on recent form and drawn wide but does get blinkers back so could go forward. 33

4 CAPTAIN BILL * Race form terrible but recent trial OK so could improve. 100

5 SHOWCASE THE GOLD *** Appreciates drop back to Maiden Company, gets blinkers and can win this on effort from two back. 8.00

6 EASYLIGHTS * Could run a cheeky race but disappoints at the business end. 33

7 BLACK TAIPAN * Battler. 100

8 NEW GARDEN ** Improving and mile should suit. Exotics. 20

9 SILKARDO ** Solid without being a threat last start but honest and can consider in this weak field. 20

10 SPEEDY ROSE ** Form reads badly but solid late last start and gets upgrade to blinkers so can consider at odds. 33

11 SUN HOLIDAY *** Racing and trialling well and hard to beat in this field. 2.60

12 SCOOBY DOO * Battler. 50

13 WHERE SHE'S HAPPY *** Foot on the till and get this chance in this field. 3.00

14 REVOLVER * Tongue-tie on but hard to have. 50

15 TELL ME * Recent trial OK but not for me. 50

16 FIGHT MY WAY * Blinkers off but hard to have. 50

Race 7

Selections; 5 TWILL GUY - 7 LIM'S UNIQUE - 13 DRONE - 2 GOOD CATCH

Very little to get excited about in this Class 5 with most having poor form. One capable of improvement is TWILL GUY who has been beaten by wide gates at his past two outings; he is better drawn here and with the in-form Maia to ride could be hard to pass. Another to watch is the lightly-raced LIM'S UNIQUE. Trained by Dan Meagher, the 4YO has plenty of issues but hasn't been far away at most of his six outings; recent trials help and with blinkers and Vlad Duric he could be ready to perform. Of the rest, GOOD CATCH is fitter now and with blinkers off can improve from a good gate, FIGHT TO VICTORY appreciates the Poly, while both emergencies - DRONE and MY FRIENDS - both play a big part if they get a start. Betting Strategy - TWILL GUY each-way.

1 GALLANT BLACK * Unsighted in 1600m Maiden last start. Drops in trip, winkers off and appreciates Class 5 but needs to improve. 33

2 GOOD CATCH *** Caught wide and hung out last start before making late ground. Fitter now and with blinkers off can improve from good gate. 4.00

3 JK FORMIDABLE ** Disappointing last start. Has struggled at both outings since resuming but form last prep was up to this class. Capable of improvement. 16

4 THE ICEMAN * Never likely last start after missing kick. In the right grade but needs to improve. 33

5 TWILL GUY *** Beaten by wide gates at past two outings. Better drawn here and with Maia can give a sight. 3.00

6 LIFE IS GAMBLE * Trialled well but race form appalling and gate no help. Take on trust. 33

7 LIM'S UNIQUE *** Lightly raced 4YO who has had issues but hasn't been far away at most outings. Recent trials help. Poorly drawn but gets blinkers and Vlad Duric. Keep safe. 3.00

8 FIGHT TO VICTORY *** Weakened out last start over 1400m. Best recent run was this trip on poly. Can show up from good gate. 12

9 SMOOTH OPERATOR ** Form poor but has benefited from recent trials. Gate tests. 50

10 PEGASUS JUNIOR * Faded out over 1400m last start. Drop back in trip may help but hasn't won for a long time. 50

11 KING OF GLORY * Did nothing when resuming. Well drawn but needs to improve. 50

12 MY MIRACLE ** Not far away last start and has found a weak race. Will be thereabouts. 12

13 DRONE *** Caught wide and only battled last start. Better drawn here and well up to this class. Hard to beat if gets a start. 5.00

14 MY FRIENDS *** Has speed and fitter for recent trials. Could give a sight. 25

Race 8

Some interesting runners in this Class 4 and none more so than the ex-Argentinean, RAMBO. Now trained by Dan Meagher, RAMBO was a Group level performer before arrival with wins up to 1800m and showed he has acclimatised with a barnstorming finish to be runner-up last start over 1200m in this grade; the extra distance will suit and he may have too much class. TRADING POST found the Singapore Guineas too hard last start but had shown enough with a win and placing at both Singapore outings to keep him under notice and Duric takes the mount. HARD TO THINK is coming off a Maiden win over this trip and whilst this is much harder, he has speed and gate one helps. For value, SUPER SMART and SATELLITE WARRIOR could have a say, while numbers 3, 5, 9, 11 and 13 can also be included in exotics. Betting Strategy - RAMBO win, saver on SUPER SMART at odds.

1 RAMBO *** Just missed when flying late over 1200m last start. Extra 200m right up his alley on Argentinean form and hard to hold out. 3.00

2 TRADING POST *** Found Singapore Guineas too hard last start but worked home well enough to follow on form prior. Goes close. 3.50

3 COUNT ME IN ** Caught wide and only battled last start after narrow defeat when resuming. Up in trip suits but poorly drawn again. 8.00

4 SUPER SMART *** Excuses last start (traffic in straight) and work late suggests he could have a say here at odds. 33

5 ATLAS ** Solid efforts at both outings since resuming. Poorly drawn but can run on. 10

6 HARD TOO THINK *** Led throughout to win Maiden over this trip last start. This is harder but has trialled well since and good gate helps. 8.00

7 SATELLITE WARRIOR *** Run down late over this trip last start when blinkers went on and happy to follow. 20

8 ARC RAIDER * Gets blinkers but has struggled since arriving from Malaysia. Needs to improve. 50

9 CAVALLA COURT ** Solid effort when resuming and recent trial was good enough to include in exotics at odds. 20

10 COMING FAST * Lost all form. 100

11 SMOKE AND MIRRORS ** Bolted in to win Maiden last start. This is harder but shows promise. 10

12 IMPERIUM * Excuses last start but stepping up in trip and best recent efforts are on poly. 50

13 STREET PARTY ** One win in 22 starts but has placed at all four outings since resuming. Will be thereabouts. 33

14 TAKHI * Only battled last start on poly over 1600m. Tested here from wide gate but gets blinkers. 100

15 UPGRADED * Has struggled since resuming. Extra distance may help sans blinkers. 33

16 PER INCROWN * Battled on last start but still a Maiden. 50

Race 9

Class droppers and different form lines make this Class 3 a puzzle. ROCKET STAR has won only three of thirteen outings but rarely misses a place and ran a bold race last start when second to INFERNO in the Singapore Guineas. From his wide gate, he will go back for Vlad Duric, but charge home late. MOON FACE is an Argentinean who has been dominant on the poly in two Singapore outings; he will find this harder and needs to handle turf but the winning form is on the board with strong support likely. Of the rest, IRONSIDE placed in Class 2 when resuming and wasn't far away over 1400m last start, LIM'S CRAFT disappointed last start but has trialled well since and is suited this company, while the enigma is the class dropper BE BEE who on best form is more than capable in this company. Betting Strategy - ROCKET STAR each-way.

1 BE BEE ** Hasn't won for a long time but will appreciate drop in grade. Work late last start suggests he is worth a look. 8.00

2 MAGIC WAND ** Resuming after long break. Hasn't won for a long time but has first up form and gate 2 helps. Watch market. 33

3 LIM'S CRAFT ** Resuming. Suited this company and with winkers off should get a good run throughout on the back of some good trials. 6.00

4 ROCKET STAR *** Ran a bold race in the Singapore Guineas. Poorly drawn but gets Vlad Duric and will be closing late. 4.00

5 MAKKEM LAD * Last win was this class and distance but has disappointed since resuming. Gate no help. 50

6 MOON FACE *** Argentinean which has looked good winning both outings in Singapore on poly. Will find this harder on turf but winning form is good form. 4.00

7 IRONSIDE *** Placed in Class 2 when resuming and wasn't far away over 1400m last start. Claim helps and will get a good run throughout. 5.00

8 MR HOOPER * Has struggled since Class 4 poly win when resuming. Poorly drawn and might need easier. 33

9 WATCH OUT BOSS ** Disappointed last start on the Poly but placed on turf this class and distance start prior. Keep safe. 16

10 FEDERATION ** Caught wide and wasn't far away last start. Fitter for three outings and blinkers may help. Watch market. 16

11 LIMITED EDITION * Won Class 4 three starts back but has struggled since and gate no help. 50

12 AUTUMN RUSH * Recent trial good but needs the Poly at this level. 50

13 MY BIG BOSS * Made some late ground last start but another better suited on the Poly. 33

14 CHARGER * Recent trial sound but needs to improve on last start effort. Better in Class 4. 33

15 BLITZING * Ex Hong Kong performer which has struggled since arriving in Singapore. 50

Race 10

The best horse in Singapore is INFERNO and while you could make an argument against the 4YO back in trip at open weigh-for-age level, he just wins. The naysayers could add he has also drawn wide and meets the highest rated horse in the race some 7kg worse off, but he will loom large early in the straight and could win eased down. Who beats him? Like INFERNO, MR MALEK won over 1600m last start but is unbeaten at five starts over 1200m starts and could be the danger if he gets any luck from the wide gate. Of the higher rated horses, EXCELLING won the Merlion Trophy (poly) last start but won his last turf outing in Class 3 and will get the gun run from gate two, while GRAND KOONTA hasn't finished worse than second in nine Singapore starts with five wins; he takes on stronger company here but can run on from a wide gate. FAME STAR, SURPASS NATURAL and ZAC KASA for exotics. Betting Strategy - INFERNO strong win.

1 SKYWALK * Always runs an honest race but generally finds one better at this level an best form on the Poly. 20

2 FAME STAR ** Did some work last start so excuses to fade and has trialled well since. Keep safe. 20

3 EXCELLING ** Won Merlion Trophy on poly over this trip. Best form is on that surface but did win Class 3 at last turf outing. Will get a good run from gate two. 20

4 GRAND KOONTA ** Won Class 1 over this trip when resuming. This is harder and poorly drawn but too consistent to ignore. 10

5 SURPASS NATURAL ** Better on the Poly but wasn't beaten far last start on turf and draws to do no work. Can be in the finish. 20

6 NOWYOUSEE * Narrowly beaten in Class 2 last start but best form is on poly at this level. 33

7 ZAC KASA ** Hasn't won for a while but placed in Class 1 last start on the turf and a must for exotics. 25

8 INFERNO *** Drawn the car park and drops back in trip but is the best horse in Singapore and wins this. 1.80

9 MR MALEK ** Another top-liner who drops back in trip but is five-from-five over 1200m and will look the winner at some stage. 4.00

10 SAFEER * Ran on well in Raffles Cup and suited back in trip so can include in exotics at odds. 50

11 ARAMANI * Up in class but has speed and could run a very cheeky race. 25

12 EYE GUY * Blinkers to winkers but can't consider on form. 100

13 COUSTEAU * Needs much easier. 100

14 MAN OF MYSTERY * Will find this too hard. 100

15 STREET CRY SUCCESS * Outclassed. 100

16 GINGERELLA * Resuming. Ran fifth in this last year and goes best fresh. Has had lameness issues and bled at a trial back in July. Recent trial good but take on trust. 50

Race 11

Not an overly strong Class 4 Poly sprint, which may give WATER ROCKET a chance to turn some good form into a win. The Vlad Duric mount hit the front but was swamped late last start on the turf but while drawn wide here, he should be ridden positively and look the winner late. GENTLEMAN AGREEMENT is very consistent, won when resuming and then ran second in a similar race to this last start; with John Powell aboard he can get the job done. TAX FREE won over 1100m when resuming and was far from disgraced last start, gets an ideal run from inside gate and can be in the finish. THE BROTHERHOOD and KHARISMA also have a say on recent form in a race that suits. Betting Strategy - WATER ROCKET win.

1 GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT *** In good form since resuming and has won twice and been runner in this grade five times at past seven starts. Well drawn and with John Powell should be near the speed throughout. 3.00

2 ELITE CONQUEST * Showed no speed and never likely at first start after dropping into this grade. Blinkers to visor but needs to improve. 50

3 WATER ROCKET *** Hit front but was swamped late last start. Can give a sight again on the Poly. 4.00

4 WONDERFUL KNIGHT ** 10YO who placed on poly when resuming but has battled since. Take on trust. 33

5 REVOLUTION * Ran on fairly last start and recent trial was sound but running out of chances. 10

6 TAX FREE *** Won over 1100m when resuming and wasn't disgraced last start. Will get a good run and can be in the finish. 4.50

7 THE BROTHERHOOD *** Backed up maiden win with two good placings this Company and will have a say late here. 10

8 KHARISMA *** Won Maiden when resuming on Poly and not far away at past two outings on turf in this grade. Follow sans blinkers. 10

9 NORTHERN SUN * Won Class 5 over this trip last start but will find this harder. 33

10 FAST AND FEARLESS * In good form in weaker company. This is harder and gate no help. 20

11 WHAT YOU LIKE * Won Class 5 two starts back but only battled last outing. Poly helps, gate doesn't. 33

12 STAR BULLET ** Has been run down at past two outings. One win in 15 starts but well drawn and can give a sight at odds. 33

13 RED DAWN * Has struggled since resuming 50

14 DESPACITO * Only battled when resuming. Trip suits but poorly drawn. 50
