Kranji's Sunday meeting preview

Meeting Preview, selections, comments and odds, courtesy Larry Foley, kranjiracing.com.

It only seems like yesterday that horse racing in Singapore was put on hold as the dreaded Corona virus swept the world.

But here we are - only one month back under restricted conditions - the best horses in Singapore head to the start for a million dollar mile and Group 1 glory.

So bravo to all concerned for getting the show back on the road and hopefully for punters, we can find the winner of the Kranji Mile (race 12).

And like most weight-for-age races, it always pays to start at the top of the ratings and COUNTOFMONTECRISTO looks the standout on paper.

The 7YO probably hasn’t won as many Group races as his honest form over many years at the top level deserved, but he brings winning form to this campaign, loves the mile and given his style of racing, will have every chance to add this trophy to his cabinet.

In his favour is the fact some of his main dangers come into this with below par performances under their belt, however, his stable-mate, TOP KNIGHT, did have excuses first-up over 1400m and he will be the most likely challenger late.

Don’t discount the Derby winner, SUN MARSHAL, first-up over a suitable trip on the back of a good trial and his stable-mate, MR CLINT, also has the Group 1 2019 form to his name and cannot be discounted.

Elsewhere on the bumper 14-race card, the interesting runner is MAKANANI who wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Kranji Mile but takes on Class 2 Company in race 9.

The Takaoka-trained mare hasn't set the word on fire at her only start in 2020, but given she won the weight-for-age Group 1 Raffles Cup over the mile only four starts back, she only has to be near her best to win against less-credentialed company today.

Best Bets: (KNIGHT LOVE race 11, win), (COUNTOFMONTECRISTO race 12, win), and (MAKANANI race 9, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 11 (11), race 12 (1), race 13 (1, 2, 4, 12 and 13), race 14 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 and 12).

Race 1

Selections; 2 OPTIMUM STAR - 5 COMING UP - 1 CODIGOS - 10 WHISTLE GRAND
Not a bad Class 5 to start the programme with several that put in solid efforts when resuming after the COVID break. OPTIMUM STAR was caught wide before running on well when resuming. He knows how to win in this grade, strips fitter, is well drawn and senior rider Munger replaces the apprentice; that might be enough. COMING UP is another that was caught wide and placed when resuming. An improving Maiden, the extra distance suits and from the better draw he will get a good run. CODIGOS has been a Maiden for a while but was knocking on the door last preparation; he might like longer but trialled well and could sprint whilst fresh. WHISTLE GRAND made ground when resuming and blinkers go back on, he draws to do no work and could be strong late. DRONE, TWILL GUY and SMOKE AND MIRRORS for the exotics. Betting strategy: OPTIMUM STAR to win.
1 CODIGOS *** Resuming and trialled soundly. Around the mark at recent outings over longer but can play a part in this first up. 6.00
2 OPTIMUM STAR *** Caught wide and ran on well when resuming. Strips fitter, well drawn and gets conditions to suit. Ticks the boxes. 4.00
3 TWILL GUY ** Not far away when resuming. Won three starts back and should be handy. 10
4 BEAUTY SEVEN SEVEN * Needs to improve on efforts to date. 100
5 COMING UP *** Caught wide and placed when resuming. Showing improvement and gets a good run. Extra distance suits. 4.00
6 DRONE ** Had supported and disappointed when resuming. Poorly drawn but extra distance suits and can run on. 10
7 MISS MICHELLE * Led from wide gate before weakening last start. Better drawn and blinkers off but 1200m may test. 33
8 NATUREISSPEAKING * Has shown nothing in three starts. 100
9 SMOKE AND MIRRORS ** Battled on solidly when resuming. Improving Maiden but might need longer and turf. 10
10 WHISTLE GRAND ** Made ground when resuming and blinkers back on. Extra distance suits and can run on. 8.00
11 ELITE SAINT ** Prominent and battled away over 1000m when resuming. Gate no help. 8.00
12 BIG REGARDS * Resuming. Needs longer. 100
13 FORT MUSTANG * Maiden. Caught wide but weakened when resuming. Placed this trip last preparation and has the speed to be prominent. 25
14 FREE FALLIN' ** Fought on to place when resuming. Gets back but can run on. 25

Race 2

Selections; 7 OUR SECRET WEAPON - 8 REAL EFECTO - 11 TUESDAY - 2 ALMUGIR
Very little revealed form in this Restricted Maiden make the market the best guide. OUR SECRET WEAPON is by speed sire Outreach and trialled well. Mark Walker's stable is in form and, despite the wide gate, can be in the finish. TUESDAY is by a top sire in Deep Field and his dam won at 1100m; he was strong in his trial, has a good gate and looks ready to go for Michael Clements and Louis Beuzelin. REAL EFECTO may like longer but he trialled well and can run on for Benny Woodworth. ALMUGIR has the benefit of race experience and from a good gate can make his presence felt. TILSWORTH SYDNEY trialled well and has the benefit of the inside gate. Include JOJU in exotics. Betting Strategy - OUR SECRET WEAPON win.
1 ALMALEK * By Harbour Watch. Bred for longer and did not show up at trial. 50
2 ALMUGIR *** Performed fairly on debut and has trialled well since. Well drawn and should improve. 5.00
3 SCOOBY DOO * Resuming. Did nothing at debut. Japanese-bred that will need time. 50
4 TILSWORTH SYDNEY *** By Outstrip. Trialled soundly and has inside gate. Should be prominent. Watch market. 12
5 CITY GATE * By Eurozone. Dam won three times up to 1500m and has been a solid producer. Poorly drawn and trial was moderate. Later. 16
6 CRYSTAL STAR ** By Nadeem. Looked comfortable at Official trial. Half-brother to two-time winner Samurai Express. Watch market 20
7 OUR SECRET WEAPON *** By Outreach. Trialled strongly. Dam won over 1350m. Poorly drawn but looks a likely type. Watch for support. 3.00
8 REAL EFECTO *** By Real Impact. Dam is a half-sister to Eclair Fastpass. Trialled well. Watch market. 6.00
9 RINGS OF FIRE * Resuming with blinkers. Well beaten at debut but could improve. 50
10 THE WILD PRINCE * By Rip Van Winkle. Dam won twice at 880m. Did not show up at trial. Poorly drawn. Watch market. 50
11 TUESDAY *** By Deep Field. Dam won over 1100m. Pushed but trialled strongly. Watch market. 5.00
12 JOJU ** By Burgundy. Trialled well. Half-brother to Heavenly Dancer. Gate no help. Watch market. 10
13 RAGING BRAVE ** Caught wide last start but fought on. Improving and better gate helps. 20

Race 3

Selections; 1 SMILING PROUD - 11 GIANT KILLING - 3 HIGH LIMIT - 8 SILVER JOY
A battlers Class 5 where most struggle to win. SMILING PROUD hasn't won since coming to Singapore but has better credentials than most having won twice in NZ before arrival. He was able to place in Class 4 previously and now having third outing in Class 5 and second-up from a break, is ready to win. HIGH LIMIT is a Class 5 journeyman but all three wins have been at this trip; he will strip fitter for one outing and with Marc Lerner to ride can be in the finish. SILVER JOY made ground when resuming, he would like longer but will get a good run from gate two and should be closing late. SUPER TALENT returned lame last start but placed at his previous outing and can improve. Watch GIANT KILLING at odds on the back of some good trials and include VETRI in exotics. Betting Strategy - GIANT KILLING each-way at value.
1 SMILING PROUD *** Led before weakening when resuming. Will strip fitter and now having third outing in Class 5. Can give a sight. 3.00
2 VETRI ** Placed last start in similar company and has trialled since. Poorly drawn but could run on. 10
3 HIGH LIMIT *** Only battled when resuming. Will strip fitter and suited this company. Can improve. 3.50
4 STAR EFFECT * Seven-start Maiden resuming after returning a roarer. Trialled well but gate no help. 20
5 SUPER TALENT ** Returned lame last start. Placed when resuming and can improve from good gate. 8.00
6 SPIRIT SEVEN * Resuming. Has struggled since dropping into Class 5 and hasn't won for over two years. 33
7 TUSCAN ARTIST * Resuming. Only win was at 1600m and that was 96 weeks ago. Blinkers off but will need the outing. 33
8 SILVER JOY ** Passed a few late when resuming. Prefer over longer but well drawn and can improve in this weak field. 6.00
9 ASSASSIN * Weakened out when resuming. Has some speed but 1200m tests. 25
10 MAXIMILIAN ** Late Clarton Star. Only battled when resuming. Placed at previous outing over this trip. Could run on. 16
11 GIANT KILLING *** Resuming. Twenty start Maiden status a worry but recent trial was good and happy to keep safe at odds. 20
12 MY MIRACLE * Has struggled since resuming. 50
13 COLONIEL STAR * Did nothing when resuming. Yet to show up in four outings. 100
14 HIGH STREET * Unsighted when resuming. Struggles. 100

Race 4

Selections; 2 MARDOONA - 1 JACKSA - 9 STRONG N SMART - 12 LADY ROXANNE
Another Restricted Maiden and with most being first starters, the market will be the best guide. The two Michael Clements runners JACKSA and MARDOONA have both drawn wide but importantly have race experience with both having placed on debut. MARDOONA was the more impressive at his only outing and he has the speed to overcome the gate. The Mark Walker-trained LADY ROXANNE has shown little in Singapore trials but did win one trial in NZ before arrival; progeny of the sire Darci Brahma do well in Singapore and from gate 1 she could be prominent. STRONG N SMART looked useful at the trials, is well drawn and bred for speed - watch market. Betting Strategy - Box 1, 2, 9 and 12 in a trifecta.
1 JACKSA *** Ran a distant placing on debut and should be improved. Poorly drawn but can run on. 4.00
2 MARDOONA *** Found one better at debut. Poorly drawn but has speed to overcome gate. 4.00
3 MILIMILI ** Resuming. Would like longer but eye-catching effort late last start was good so keep safe. 20
4 HAPPY SATURDAY ** By Rock 'n' Pop. Dam a half-sister to smart ones Currency and Sparkling Satine. Bred for longer but trials have been solid so worth thought. 16
5 QIJI AUSTON ** By Spirit Of Boom. By a speed sire but dam has produced stayers. Trial solid enough to include in exotics. 16
6 ROCK ARTIST * By Wandjina. Dam won 4 times to 1600m. Did not show up at trials. 20
7 SPEARHEAD * By Shamus Award. Trial was only moderate. 50
8 SPLIT SECOND ** 3YO Australian-bred gelding. Trialled solidly. Watch market. 12
9 STRONG N SMART *** By Per Incanto. Dam won twice up to 1400m. Trialled well. Well drawn and should be prominent. 5.00
10 SUPER ATAS * By Charm Spirit. Dam won 4 times and placed in an Auckland Cup. Bred for much longer. Watch market. 100
11 TAKE A CHANCE * By Star Witness. Dam is a half-sister to Shamalia. Did not show up at trial. Watch market. 25
12 LADY ROXANNE *** By Darci Brahma. Dam won three times up to 1400m. Won a trial in NZ before arrival but has not shown up in two Singapore trials. Well-drawn. Watch market. 5.00
13 PERFECT MISSION * Well beaten at both outings. 100

Race 5

Selections; 5 NINGALOO - 1 SPORTSCASTER - 3 SILVER WAY - 9 TAVITO
An ordinary group of Class 5 battlers where none win out of turn, if at all. NINGALOO is a seven-start Maiden who wasn't far away when resuming and has benefited from a trial since; Benny Woodworth takes the mount and from a good gate he might have more upside than the rest. SILVER WAY is resuming, has speed, gets a 3kg claim and has won over the trip previously. SPORTSCASTER would prefer longer but he resumed well two starts back and can be forgiven last outing when checked in the straight; at least he knows how to win having done so four times previously, which is more than any in this field. TAVITO disappointed when resuming but won at this trip previously and can improve. Include MA BAO BAO and TSURIAN in exotics. Betting Strategy - NINGALOO each-way.
1 SPORTSCASTER *** Held up last start following solid placing when resuming. Best form over longer but has the speed to be prominent. 5.00
2 PHAXE * Resuming. Trialled solidly but yet to place in six outings and poorly drawn. 50
3 SILVER WAY *** Resuming without blinkers. Showed speed last outing and from good gate can be prominent. Last win was at this trip. 5.00
4 TSURIAN ** Resuming. Won Class 5 on turf over 1400m four starts back but has battled at recent outings. 8.00
5 NINGALOO *** Seven-start Maiden who looked to have some in hand last start. Tongue-tie and longer trip may help. 5.00
6 SUPER EMPEROR * Resuming after having respiratory issues last start. Trialled solidly and has speed but gate no help. 10
7 EVIL ROADSTER * Struggled when resuming. Needs to improve. 50
8 MA BAO BAO ** Had support but dropped out when resuming. Capable of improvement but poorly drawn 8.00
9 TAVITO *** Only battled when resuming but won over this trip two starts back. Could improve. 5.00
10 MONTOYA ** Battled away when resuming. Still a Maiden after 16 starts but can figure. 33
11 OCEAN ELEVEN ** Resuming after change of stables. Late Titanium Force. Only placing was two starts back over 1400m. Watch market. 25
12 VESONTIO * Saddle slipped when resuming. Gets blinkers but poorly drawn and best form over longer. 25
13 MAN OF WORDS * Resuming. Form poor last preparation. 33
14 CIZEN BOSS * Resuming. Only win on turf over this trip five starts back. Trialled soundly. Watch market. 12

Race 6

Selections; 2 WATER ROCKET - 8 QUANTUM - 4 GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT - 7 ROYAL PAVILION
With five Class 4 races (three over 1200m) on the 14-race card from Singapore today, the races lack depth and hopefully we can narrow down the winning hopes to three or four here. WATER ROCKET only found one better when resuming on the Poly and looks the one to run down after drawing gate 1. The 4YO Argentinean also has a turf win to his name and rarely runs a poor race and does look better than Class 4. GENTLEMAN AGREEMENT is also honest and while all his career wins have been over 1400m, he is trialling well and 1200m looks ideal first up with gate 3 a bonus. These two look the obvious picks but QUANTUM could easily surprise. The NZ-bred 6YO can be his own worse enemy when finding trouble in races but his work late last start suggests he has more to offer and may be value. The swooper ROYAL PAVILION has not been seen on the turf of late but has won on the surface and will be working home strongly if the race is run to suit. Of the rest, CAVALLA COURT and FLYING TOURBILLION could figure first up on the back of some good trials. Betting Strategy - WATER ROCKET win, saver on QUANTUM.
1 PROOF PERFECT * Only battled when blinkers added last start and drawn wide but may appreciate the turf. 20
2 WATER ROCKET *** No match for winner last start but had everything else covered. Has won on the turf and hard to run down from the ace. 3.00
3 JR MALONE ** Appreciates first up run in Singapore and step up to 1200m on the turf. Improves. 20
4 GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT *** Resuming. Better over 1400m but this looks suitable first up with some nice trials under his belt. Goes close. 3.00
5 ARC RAIDER ** Resuming after long break and a run in Malaysia. Singapore form prior was OK and recent trial solid. Keep safe. 20
6 LUCK OF FRIENDSHIP * Showed nothing when resuming and easier to ignore. 33
7 ROYAL PAVILION *** Not often seen on the turf but has won on the surface and should be doing best work late. 10
8 QUANTUM *** Can find trouble but had some in hand last start and work late suggests he wins one soon. Follow. 12
9 CAVALLA COURT ** Resuming after two battling runs in this Company after maiden win but should be competitive on the back of a good trial. 20
10 TIME TO ROCK ** Resuming after jockey reported issue last start. Has shown enough to keep safe with headgear and tongue-tie removed. 20
11 EASTIGER * Resuming. Usually honest but drawn wide and may need the run. 20
12 LORD O'REILLY * Battled when resuming and prefer others. 33
13 FLYING TOURBILLON ** Resuming after a disappointing run but was showing enough prior to keep safe on the back of a good trial. 20
14 PERFECT * Nothing when resuming but could improve on the turf. 33
15 BRACED * OK late last start but needs longer to show his best. 33
16 RED CLAW * Needs Class 5. 50

Race 7

Selections; 7 KHARISMA - 4 AFALONHRO - 2 GOLD CITY - 10 DIAMOND MINE
An interesting Class 4 where a couple of handy horses are up in grade after finding winning form and it may be the last start maiden winner in KHARISMA who is the one to follow. The 4YO showed plenty at his first preparation when placing at all three runs and his maiden win when blinkers were added first up was easily good enough to suggest he is more than up to Class 4 Company and will be hard to run down. DIAMOND MINE broke his maiden three starts back and knocked in his second career win last start in Class 5. This is obviously harder but the 4YO has found form and should figure in this finish with best work expected late. A horse with the runs on the board in this company is GOLD CITY and given he has first up form in similar races to this, he must be respected. AFALOHNRO can also have a big say in what is a suitable race with blinkers added after an eye-catching first up run on the Poly. Keep QIJI DIAMOND safe with Louis Beuzelin up, while GOLDEN THUNDER and BORN TO WIN are both good value options on eye-catching last start runs. Betting Strategy - KHARISMA win.
1 FORESTO * Resuming. Drawn wide and prefer on the Poly. 33
2 GOLD CITY *** Resuming in what looks a very suitable race. Has first-up form and will be doing best work late. 7.00
3 LORD OF CLOUD ** Resuming. Form reads badly and drawn wide but recent trial was good enough to consider at odds. 20
4 AFALONHRO *** Ran on late when resuming on poly. Gets blinkers and could improve from good gate over 1400m. 8.00
5 THUNDER ** Disappointing when resuming but has shown glimpses in Singapore so can consider. 20
6 YULONG JAZZ ** Irish 5YO who won one from eight back home. Has taken a long time to get to the races and market best guide on the odd good trial. 12
7 KHARISMA *** Broke Maiden status in fine style when blinkers added and will give a sight from gate 2. 3.00
8 QIJI DIAMOND ** Saddle slipped last start and worth thought on best form with senior hoop back on. 20
9 SUN FORMATION ** Resuming. Won Class 5 last start. Will find this harder but should be competitive. 12
10 DIAMOND MINE *** Up in grade but found winning form and could easily make his presence felt late. 6.00
11 BORN TO WIN ** Like to see in Class 5 but good work late last start has him under notice at odds. 20
12 BEBOP * Resuming. Better on the Poly and should need easier. 20
13 GOLDEN THUNDER ** Would prefer Class 5 but eye-catching run late last start has him under notice. 20
14 MY FRIENDS * Resuming. Gets blinkers but needs easier and the Poly. 33
15 MR EXCHEQUER ** Resuming. Versatile type who has to be respected in this Company. 20
16 DAZZLE GOLD * Nothing when resuming and needs longer. 50

Race 8

Selections; 1 UNCONQUERED - 7 AMORE AMORE - 4 ATLAS - 2 HEADHUNTER
A tough race to line up form-wise with a couple of promising types coming off poor runs up against a Class dropper who looks horribly out of form but can win in Class 4. The Class dropper is UNCONQUERED who is having his first run for the Leslie Khoo stable after having excuses not to finish closer when resuming in Class 3. The 8YO has trialled very well since and hopefully provides some value for punters who thinks he improves back in suitable company. AMORE AMORE and ATLAS are also in the mix after showing ability at three and four career starts respectively. AMORE AMORE did it tough last start and from gate 3 you would imagine he gets the favours and can win on the back of a good trial. Likewise, ATLAS had excuses last start not to be in the finish and gate 2 certainly helps his cause with R Maia up. The other horse that wins without surprising is the ex-Godolphin 4YO, HEAD HUNTER, who placed at his Singapore debut and will appreciate 1200m on the turf, while ADMIRAL WINSTON is yet to place on the turf but his last start win good enough to follow here. Betting Strategy - UNCONQUERED each-way.

1 UNCONQUERED *** Form reads badly, has changed stables and rarely seen on the turf but drops significantly in grade and can win on the back of a good trial. 20
2 HEADHUNTER *** Ex-Godolphin galloper who made a solid Singapore debut when placing on the Poly. Must be respected. 5.00
3 DIAMONDS * Resuming. Impossible on exposed form. 100
4 ATLAS *** Resuming after excuses not to be in the mix last start and will figure prominently in this from gate 2. 5.00
5 LEADING CELLIST ** Form reads badly but work late last start suggests he has something to offer. 20
6 RISE OF EMPIRE ** Resuming and trialled soundly. Showed promise winning Maiden last prep. Has speed and should be prominent. 20
7 AMORE AMORE *** Resuming. Did it tough last start and will appreciate gate 3 and can win on the back of a good trial. 6.00
8 ADMIRAL WINSTON *** Up in grade and yet to place on the turf but last start win was good enough to follow with gate 1 a bonus. 7.00
9 WINNING HOBBY ** Resuming. Can disappoint but has speed and could run cheeky race at odds. 20
10 BLACK QUAIL ** Resuming. Followed Class 5 win with two solid efforts in this grade. Has speed and should be prominent. 12
11 CHARMING DIAMOND ** Never involved from wide gate when resuming but better than that and worth thought in exotics. 12
12 ELISE * Resuming. Likes to lead and gate no help. 33
13 MR FAT KIDDY ** Resuming. Maiden who has been more than competitive in this grade previously but gate is an issue. 12
14 RESOLUTION ** Another pace influence drawn wide but can a play a part with luck in running. 10
15 VOLUNTAD * Maiden who needs much easier. 100
16 SILKARDO * Resuming. Maiden who is eligible for easier. 50

Race 9

Selections; 1 MAKANANI - 6 PAX ANIMI - 4 SACRED CROIX - 8 PER INPOWER
A terrific Class 2 mile with a horse or two progressive enough to think they could have a say in Group races sooner than later. PAX ANIMI is one of them and the 5YO has impressed since arriving from Australia winning three from five with excuses at his only poor run, which was in Group Company. This is a step up from his last start Class 3 win but with no weight, he must be a winning hope. Likewise, MINISTER is up in Class after winning at his last start but given his only poor run was at his Singapore debut in Group Company, he is one to follow. But at the top of the weights and ratings is MAKANANI who should really be running in the Kranji Mile. True, he was only fair when resuming over 1400m in Class 1 Company, but he won the WFA Group 1 Raffles Cup over a mile only four starts back suggesting he wins this if anywhere near his best. The race has depth though and some value may be found in the likes of SACRED CROIX and PER INPOWER who will be running on strongly. Betting Strategy - MAKANANI win.
1 MAKANANI *** Won over the mile at Group 1 level four starts back. Appreciates first up run and hard to beat on best form. 5.00
2 ELITE QUARTETO * Resuming. Group winner who has shown little since arriving from Brazil but should find Class 2 to his liking. 33
3 MINISTER *** Up in Class after first up win over 1400m but won this trip start prior and can follow. 3.50
4 SACRED CROIX *** Under-rated 6YO who ran on well when resuming over 1400m in Class 1 and right in this with light-weight. 8.00
5 BAHANA * Resuming. Wait for something longer in November. 100
6 PAX ANIMI *** Very progressive type who had excuses for only poor run in Singapore and can win this off the minimum. 3.00
7 TIME LORD ** Ran on well behind Pax Animi last start and extra 200m suits. Value. 12
8 PER INPOWER *** Form reads badly but was running on strongly last start before hitting trouble in straight. Keep very safe at odds. 20
9 AUGUSTUS ** Was also running on well enough last start to follow over a more suitable trip. 20
10 OCEAN CROSSING ** In the mix with Pax Animi last start and rarely runs badly so another to keep safe. 8.00

Race 10

Selections; 1 CENTENARY DIAMOND - 2 MIG PIERRO - 6 LIM'S SPIN - 3 MR ALEJANDRO
A tricky race for punters with another seemingly out-of-form Class dropper some hope at the top of the weights and the two emergencies both winning chances if they get a start. But starting at the top, CENTENARY DIAMOND will find Class 4 to his liking after some good form in better company last preparation. The 5YO also had excuses last start and gets blinkers added after some good trials so can win with a handy 3kg claim a bonus. On recent Class 4 form, MIG PIERO probably starts favourite as he had excuses last start (returned a roarer) and should more than handle the turf and 1400m with Marc Lerner to ride. LIM'S SPIN won his maiden last start in fine fashion and while this is obviously tougher, he is trialling well and Ronnie Woodworth should give him every chance. It's hard to leave MR ALEJANDRO out of winning calculations given he just missed when resuming in a similar affair to this and, as mentioned, the two emergencies in ELITE REMARKABLE and BASILISK both go very close if they get a start. Betting Strategy - CENTENARY DIAMOND each-way, saver on ELITE REMARKABLE is he gets a start.
1 CENTENARY DIAMOND *** Resuming down in grade after excuses last start. Gets upgrade to blinkers and can win with handy claim. 6.00
2 MIG PIERRO *** Returned a roarer last start so happy to ignore and take on good form prior. 5.00
3 MR ALEJANDRO *** Just pipped on the post last start in similar affair and should figure prominently again. 3.00
4 BREATHE FIRE * Won Maiden at this trip in NZ but did nothing at first Singapore outing on poly. Needs to improve. 33
5 DON DE LA VEGA * Resuming. Last start winner over 1800m. Might need longer and gate will test. 20
6 LIM'S SPIN *** Resuming after breaking maiden status with strong support after good debut. This is harder but recent trials good enough to follow. 6.00
7 ELITE SILVERGHOST ** Only battled when resuming but has trialled well since as does step up in trip. Value. 20
8 MUSTENGO ** Late Clarton Palace. Only battled when resuming but step up to 1400m suits. 20
9 CIRCUIT STAR ** Resuming. Has struggled to be a threat since maiden win but trialling well and could play a part from gate 2. 12
10 GLORY SHINE * Resuming. Needs easier. 50
11 I'M A CONQUEROR * Resuming. Maiden who should need easier but has shown glimpses, gets a tongue-tie and recent trials OK. 33
12 SUPER SPEED * Won in Class 5 with support when resuming but drawn wide and this is tougher. 20
13 THE ICEMAN ** Resuming. Another that has struggled since maiden win but gets blinkers and could improve on the back of some solid trials. 20
14 GOLD RUSH * Maiden who battled when resuming and is eligible for easier. 50
15 ELITE REMARKABLE *** Showed nothing when resuming an yet to win in Singapore but 1400m is ideal and can win on best turf form. 6.00
16 BASILISK *** Another who battled when resuming but form prior good and race suits. Keep safe. 12

Race 11

Selections; 11 KNIGHT LOVE - 5 MIGHTY GENERAL - 3 FIRST CHIEF - 2 BAFFERT
This is easily the best of the Class 4 races today and while we are happy to have a long look at the likes of MIGHTY GENERAL, FIRST CHIEF and EXDREAM, the exciting KNIGHT LOVE is the one to be on. The US-bred 3YO was impressive when winning easily at his race debut on the turf and would have lost few friends with a fighting second placing on the Poly at start two. You could argue he was on the worst part of the track on that occasion and although he meets some handy types here, he looks better than Class 4 and will be hard to hold out. Of the others mentioned earlier, MIGHTY GENERAL had some traffic issues and his work late at just his second start in Singapore was very good and he must be respected, while EXDREAM battled on well at his Singapore debut to just miss a place and doesn't need to improve much to play a part in this finish. Given it's Kranji Mile day, a Hong Kong horse usually wins at least one race and FIRST CHIEF could fly the flag. The 6YO only managed one placing from nine starts in Hong Kong but has shown more than enough at two Singapore starts to think he can win a race sooner than later at Kranji and why not today? Keep BAFFERT safe at value, as he will enjoy the turf in Class 4 off a good trial. Betting Strategy - KNIGHT LOVE strong win.
1 EXDREAM *** Battled away solidly to just miss a place at Singapore debut and turf won't hurt. Goes close. 8.00
2 BAFFERT *** Disappointing when resuming but turf suits, gate helps and can win off the back of a good trial. 12
3 FIRST CHIEF *** Resuming after two good runs in Singapore after a winless Hong Kong stint. Drawn wide but trialling well and must go close. 6.00
4 ASAAD * Resuming. Struggled at only Singapore outing but gets blinkers and extra trip suits. 33
5 MIGHTY GENERAL *** Traffic excuses when running on strongly last start and hard to hold out with more luck in running. 4.00
6 LONGHU * Resuming and better on the Poly. 33
7 HYDE PARK ** Resuming after a poor run but won in Class 5 start prior and will be competitive on recent good trial form. 20
8 MY BOSS ** Resuming. Honest and recent trial good enough to play a part in this finish. 12
9 SUPERLATIVE ** Resuming. Has mixed his form at three career starts but trials have been good enough to keep an eye on the market. 20
10 BRIGHT SUN * Only battled when resuming but get blinkers and tongue-tie and could run a cheeky race at odds. 50
11 KNIGHT LOVE *** Lost no admirers when fighting on strongly on the Poly last start and debut maiden win on turf was very good. Hard to beat. 3.00
12 SUN STEP * Gate 1 helps but nuisance value only. 33
13 TRIPLE BOWL * Didn't show up at Singapore debut and prefer to just watch. 33
14 OL MATE BUZZER * Resuming and needs the Poly. 50
15 CLARTON TREASURE * First up run was better than the result but may be looking or easier. 50

Race 12

Selections; 1 COUNTOFMONTECRISTO - 10 TOP KNIGHT - 7 SUN MARSHAL - 2 MR CLINT
In troubled times, it's a testament to the Singapore Turf Club to get this million dollar race off the ground - albeit without the international raiders from Hong Kong. SOUTHERN LEGEND has won both Kranji Miles since the race was opened to internationals in 2018 and with the Hong Kong champ grounded due to the Covid restrictions, the prizemoney will stay in Singapore. And most likely in the Mike Clements stable pockets given he trains the top-rated horse in the race - COUNTOFMONTECRISTO - and two others with serious winning hopes in TOP KNIGHT and SIAM BLUE VANDA. But at the Weight-For-Age conditions and given his winning form, COUNTOFMONTECRISTO looks extremely hard to beat. The 7YO has been ultra consistent at the top level and while he probably doesn't win at Group level as often as he should, the planets have aligned for this race and it may be a case of whoever beats him wins. TOP KNIGHT may be the heir apparent at the stable and given the now 5YO had excuses when resuming over 1400m, he can show his best here and keep COUNTOFMONTECRISTO honest late. SIAM BLUE VANDA beat TOP KNIGHT in the Stewards' Cup and while not at his best when resuming, he plays a part late if on his game. Trainer Lee Freedman has to be respected in any feature races and the Hall-of-Famer has two chances with SUN MARSHAL likely to run a big race first up after a spell and MR CLINT always a chance on Gold Cup winning form. Down in the ratings, ARAMAAYO could run a cheeky race with blinkers added and KING LOUIS is always some hope on honest form. Betting Strategy - COUNTOFMONTECRISTO strong win.
1 COUNTOFMONTECRISTO *** Recent wins on the Poly but looks a monty here at the conditions and will look the winner late. 2.80
2 MR CLINT ** Placed on the Poly when resuming but never got involved last start on turf over 1400m. Might need longer again and gate no help. 12
3 I'M INCREDIBLE ** Yet to fire at two starts this preparation but has to be respected on best from 2019. 20
4 PREDITOR * Never involved with blinkers off when resuming and needs to be ridden on pace. 33
5 WAR AFFAIR * Shades of his former self but has been battling away OK this preparation and could pick up a small cheque for connections. 50
6 YULONG EDITION ** Only battled when resuming and having first crack at Group level but form last preparation was promising and mile suits. 20
7 SUN MARSHAL ** Resuming. Tough ask first up for the Derby winner but has first up form, trialling well and will race forward so always a show. 12
8 SIAM BLUE VANDA ** Disappointing not to run on as expected when resuming over 1400m but won Stewards Cup over the mile the start prior so has to be a show. 12
9 KING LOUIS ** Ran on well to keep the winner honest when resuming over 1400m and this looks ideal. Keep safe. 8.00
10 TOP KNIGHT *** Excuses when resuming and not tested late. Has to be a big show on best form with best work expected late. 6.00
11 EXCEED NATURAL * Ran on late when resuming which was promising and won Jumbo Jet last preparation. Value. 33
12 LIM'S SAMURAI ** Almost pinched it last start with bold ride over 1400m and forward run expected again but tested at the WFA conditions. 12
13 ARAMAAYO ** Placed when resuming after running third in the Stewards Cup after trade start. Gets blinkers and pay to keep safe. 12
14 SAFEER * Outclassed and better over 1200m. 100
15 EYE GUY * Gets blinkers added after a wayward run last start and have to take on trust. 100
16 ON LINE * Progressive type who is impossible at the conditions but will be running on strongly at odds. 33
17 IRONSIDE * Honest enough but eligible for much easier. 100
18 ELITE INCREDIBLE * Solid but will find this company too much an ask. 100
19 VITTORIA PERFETTA * Battled last start and yet to win beyond Class 4. 100

Race 13

Selections; 4 CHURCHILL - 1 LOYALTY MAN - 2 DESTROYER ECLIPSE - 12 LUCK OF MASTER
Another cracking race over 1600m on what is a big day for the milers and it may be CHURCHILL who will 'never surrender' in what could be a very busy finish. The former Australian has won two from four since arriving and his first up win over 1200m on the Poly was good and he looks hard to beat again with gate 3 over 1600m a bonus. But he will need to improve as LOYALTY MAN was in the winning mix last start over 1400m and he will be strong to the wire with the downgrade to winkers, while DESTROYER ECLIPSE probably leads from gate 2 and he will be hard to pass with a handy claim. The winning hopes don't stop there with LUCK OF MASTER looking like he had plenty more to offer with his strong work late last start, while SO HI CLASS has shown more than enough since relocating from Malaysia and he may be value. Keep the first emergency - BUDDY BUDDY - safe, as he will be suited over the mile. Betting Strategy - LOYALTY MAN each-way.
1 LOYALTY MAN *** In the winning mix when resuming in this Company last start and hard to hold out over the mile with downgrade to winkers and 3kg claim. 5.00
2 DESTROYER ECLIPSE *** Did some work on pace when resuming over 1400m. Should lead from gate 2 and be hard to pass. 6.00
3 TESORO PRIVADO * Needs to improve on recent form. 33
4 CHURCHILL *** Very progressive type who only missed a place in Singapore when tackling Group Company. Hard to beat with step up to the mile ideal. 3.00
5 MAT SMART * Didn't bring Malaysian form to Singapore debut and prefer to just watch. 33
6 HELIOSPHERE * Form reads badly but work late last start was promising and could improve at long odds. 33
7 DICTON * Resuming. May need the run and longer. 33
8 INHERIT ** Gate will test with claimer onboard but won well in Class 4 last start and will be competitive with luck in running. 20
9 GLASGOW * Only battled away first up and gate a concern but could improve with blinkers added. 33
10 VITTORIA PERFETTA ** Never involved from wide gate last start but would have a say with a more positive ride. 12
11 STAR JACK * Will be running on but like to see over longer. 33
12 LUCK OF MASTER *** Was very strong on the line last start and could win a race like this is race run to suit swoopers. 12
13 SO HI CLASS *** Up in Class after Class 4 win but looks to have some upside and pay to follow. 6.00
14 ADIPSON ** Appreciates first up run and always an each-way hope in races like this. 33
15 BUDDY BUDDY *** Was in the exotic mix when resuming over 1400m and mile suits. Goes close if he gets a start. 12
16 WIND TRAIL * Battled away when resuming and may need longer than this to have a say. 33

Race 14

Selections; 3 I AM SACRED - 6 HEARTENING FLYER - 10 FREY - 1 HEAVENLY DANCER
An interesting Novice with seven last start winners engaged. I AM SACRED couldn't have been more impressive bolting in at his Singapore debut; this is harder but he shows promise and with the 3kg claim for Nizar can go forward and be the one they have to pass. DELAWARE was caught wide and fought on well in Class 4 Company when resuming; he showed promise last preparation and is well treated with a 3kg claim. The interesting runner is IRONCHAMP who brings Geelong Maiden form over 1400m; he might like longer but his trial was strong and could perform fresh - watch for support. HEAVENLY DANCER showed promise at debut but needs to overcome the gate. FREY won well on debut and has trialled well since and SAVVY COMMAND is also worth thought on his tough debut win. Keep BRUTUS safe at value. Betting Strategy - FREY each-way.
1 HEAVENLY DANCER *** Resuming after good Maiden win over 1000m. Trialled well. Poorly drawn but will run on. 7.00
2 IRONCHAMP *** Won Geelong Maiden over 1400m at last start and finished top four at five previous outings. Trialled well and from good gate should be prominent. 6.00
3 I AM SACRED *** Bolted in at only Singapore outing. This is harder but shows promise and should be prominent. 4.00
4 SAVVY COMMAND *** Led throughout to win Maiden on debut. This is harder but claim helps and will be near the speed. 6.00
5 DELAWARE *** Caught wide and fought on well in good Class 4 company when resuming. Showed promise last prep and well treated with 3kg claim. 6.00
6 HEARTENING FLYER *** Won 1200m Maiden on poly on debut with heavy support. This is harder and awkwardly drawn but have to respect. 6.00
7 COMING FAST * Disappointed last start after narrow Maiden win on debut. May need easier. 50
8 WEALTH ELITE * Ran on to win 1000m poly Maiden last start. Will find this harder. 33
9 HOTSHOTS SLAM * Caught wide and dropped out when resuming in Class 4. Fitter now but poorly drawn again. 33
10 FREY *** Too strong over 1000m on poly at first Singapore outing. This is harder but has improvement on the back of a good trial. 12
11 YOU QIAN ZHUAN * Led before weakening in Class 4 when resuming. Placed in this class three starts back but has found a strong race with blinkers off. 50
12 BRUTUS ** Maiden which has placed at six of seven outings. Gate not ideal but ran Heartening Flyer to the wire last start so keep safe. 50
13 CAPTAIN BILL * Resuming. Distanced at debut. 100
14 I AM THE STAR * Did nothing when resuming. Tested. 100
15 WIND RHAPSODY * Has shown nothing to date. 100
