Kranji's Saturday meeting preview

Meeting Preview, selections, comments and odds, courtesy Larry Foley, kranjiracing.com.

After some terrific racing over the last few weeks - and with the Group 1 Guineas to look forward to - this meeting does look a tad mundane on paper but there is plenty on offer for astute punters and casual race-goers alike.

Novice events are always worth a look and race 7 on the card is a beauty with two progressive three-year-old's in INFINITE WISDOM and TUESDAY the pick of the bunch.

At the race conditions, the youngsters with one win under their belt do get in very well at the weights and while INFINITE WISDOM will have admirers to make it two-from-two, TUESDAY has looked to take improvement out of his good (but green) debut win and could be very hard to beat.

Elsewhere on the card, another exciting type in ORACLE makes his much anticipated race debut in race 2.

The Australian-bred 3YO is by NOSTRADAMUS and while the relative new sire has only had a handful of runners in Australia, there are some big wraps on the likes of Clairvoyance and ORACLE showed enough at a recent trial to think he also knows how to gallop.

He will face a stiff test on Saturday though, given Michael Clements will saddle DAY APPROACH and TIGER ROAR, who have both shown enough at the races to think they win sooner than later.

With no Vlad Duric to worry about, the jockey to follow is Ruan Maia and while none of his mounts jump of the page, most are each-way hopes including BAFFERT, MADE IN RUSSIA and STRAP MARKS in races 4, 12 and 14 respectively.

Best Bets: (ORACLE race 2, win), (TUESDAY race 7, win), and (GOLD COMPANY race 11, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 11 (1, 2, 6 and 7), race 12 (1, 2, 4, 5 and 11), race 13 (1, 3, 5 and 9), race 14 (1, 2, 3, 4 and 7).

Please note the odds listed are "reference odds" only.

Race 1

Selections; 3 STARDICE - 9 MY FRIENDS - 2 BLITZ POWER - 4 SUPERTEN
A tricky opener with a few of the fancies drawn wide and a few improvers in the right company, so the market will be a terrific guide. STARDICE comes into this off a poor run but given he had excuses (irregular heart rhythm) and was due prior, he can send his trainer J Saimee off a winner with gate 5 and a handy claim in his favour. MY FRIENDS is another coming off a poor run, however, he did the work on that occasion and with a senior hoop from a better gate, he can win on best form in this grade. BLITZ POWER, SUPERTEN, GOLDEN THUNDER and TWILL GUY can all win but luck will play a part after drawing gates 10, 11, 12 and 13 respectively. Of the quartet, BLITZ POWER should have plenty of petrol in the tank, so will be a factor late. Keep last start winner - STAR FIFTYTWO - safe with blinkers added, with BARTIMAEUS and FLYING YELLOW are better than what they showed last start. Betting Strategy - STARDICE win.
1 ALLEGRO * Drop in Class suggests improvement but recent win over 1600m on turf and should need that trip. 20
2 BLITZ POWER *** Another who may need longer but placed this trip when dropping to Class 5 last start and pay to follow. 4.00
3 STARDICE *** Excuses (heart rhythm) last start and was due prior. Can win. 5.00
4 SUPERTEN *** Never involved last start and drawn wide for this but drops in Class and will improve lengths. 10
5 BARTIMAEUS ** Backing up after disappointing run last start in similar affair. Take on trust with visor added. 20
6 FLYING YELLOW ** Looked to have every chance last start and only battled but has to be respected on winning form prior. 12
7 GOLDEN THUNDER ** Battled only when dropping to this company last start and drawn wide but will win in Class 5 sooner than later so another to keep safe. 12
8 HARVEST TIME * Resuming after showing nothing in maiden company. Market only guide. 33
9 MY FRIENDS *** Did the work early when battling late last start in this company and happy to follow with senior hoop and gate 4 a factor. 6.00
10 TWILL GUY *** Wide gate a concern (again) but showed enough last start under similar circumstances to keep safe. 8.00
11 LINCOLN COUNTY * Solid work late last start was an improvement but needs to show more before being a threat. 33
12 STAR FIFTYTWO ** Gets blinkers after breaking maiden status last start in similar affair. Respect but this is harder. 8.00
13 SUPERSONICSURPRISE * Had some support last start and battled late. Wide gate tests here. 33
14 TURF BEAUTY ** Prefer on the turf but recent Poly effort was good enough to include here. 12

Race 2

Selections; 8 ORACLE - 2 DAY APPROACH - 12 TIGER ROAR - 10 SESON
Some interesting runners in this Restricted Maiden and none more so than an Australian-bred 3YO who debuts under the moniker of ORACLE. The name makes sense given he is by a relatively new sire in Nostradamus, and the mail on the stallion has his 3YO unraced brigade under notice. Obviously ORACLE’s recent eye-catching trial had him in most black-books and he may be hard to beat from gate 1 with support likely. However, DAY APPROACH has race form and fitness on his side and while he was disappointing not to win last start given the heavy support, he wins soon and can overcome the wide gate here. His stablemate, TIGER ROAR, did well to place on debut and is also worth serious thought here, while SESSON and TWELTH NIGHT are two more than can win with 1400m ideal. Betting Strategy - ORACLE win.
1 TWELFTH NIGHT *** Appreciates first up run and will improve over 1400m with best work expected late. 12
2 DAY APPROACH *** Found one better as the odds-on pop last start but wins soon, 1400m looks ideal and can overcome wide gate. 2.40
3 TILSWORTH SYDNEY ** Battled away on debut but should improve for the run. Watch for support. 20
4 GOLDEN ONE ** Had a few excuses when well beaten on debut but has trialled well since and worth thought with gate 2 a bonus. 20
5 JUNIPER SPIRIT * Never involved from wide gate on debut and sticky draw again could test. 50
6 MARCUS ANTONIUS ** Form reads badly but ran on solidly late last start so should improve over 1400m. 33
7 MARINE VANGUARD ** Yet to threaten at two starts but OK late at recent outing so could improve over 1400m. 20
8 ORACLE *** Australian-bred 3YO by Nostradamus. Comes into this on the back on an impressive trial and could be hard to beat. 3.20
9 RISE OF THE LEGEND * Hard to have on what we saw on debut. 100
10 SESON *** Could have finished closer last start when making ground and worth thought over 1400m. 12
11 SUNDAY ** Also made up ground late last start and looks to have more to offer at odds over 1400m. 33
12 TIGER ROAR *** Excuses (saddle slipped) after tough run on debut and pay to follow. 6.00
13 GUNMETAL GREY ** Looked to have some in hand over this trip last start and will add value to exotics if he gets a start. 33
14 DONLIKEYOU * Battled only on debut and needs to show more. 50

Race 3

Selections; 9 TIGER LEAP - 11 JACKSA - 1 KING MIDAS - 2 SHOWBOUND
Another maiden and hopefully another debutante who can win with TIGER LEAP the horse in question. A 4YO NZ-bred gelding, TIGER LEAP has taken his time to get to the races but his recent trial (where he was good late) with an assortment of head-gear suggests Steven Burridge was looking for the right combo and he can win on debut with support likely. Again, race fitness counts for plenty so he will have to be on his game first-up with the likes of JACKSA, KING MIDAS, SHOWBOUND and QIJI FLYER all fit and ready to win. Of those, JACKSA looks the biggest danger and his work late over 1100m last start will hold him in good stead here although a wide gate is a concern. The field falls away quickly and the five horses mentioned should be fighting out the finish. Betting Strategy - TIGER LEAP win.
1 KING MIDAS *** Speedster who stayed on to the wire last start sans winkers and should figure heavily in this. 5.00
2 SHOWBOUND *** Has had his chances with support and usually thereabouts but Maia from gate 1 looks a good combination. 5.00
3 QIJI FLYER *** Honest as a rule and can figure in this finish sans blinkers. 12
4 NOVA FACTOR ** Only battled last start but always some show in races like this with gate 3 a help. 16
5 STELLA POLARE * OK two back on the Poly but prefer others at the maiden conditions. 20
6 TIGER BOSS * Gets blinkers and tongue-tie but impossible on form. 100
7 KING PIN * Appreciates debut run and Poly but like to see something before considering. 33
8 SUN COUNCIL ** Showed nothing on debut but better gate here suggests he can show improvement at odds on trial form. 33
9 TIGER LEAP *** 4YO NZ-bred gelding who has looked good at the trials and goes close on debut with headgear a factor. 4.00
10 LADY STUNING * OK late last start but might find a couple of these too slick. 33
11 JACKSA *** Wide gate always some concern but not far away last start and looks ready to win. 3.00
12 STRONG N BRAVE * Gets tongue-tie but needs to show more. 50

Race 4

Selections; 2 BAFFERT - 7 RISE OF EMPIRE - 9 PATTAYA - 6 QUANTUM
An odd race where it looks like half the field have serious winning hopes and the others half have none. The problem is it's hard to line up the form on the six with winning hopes but BAFFERT has the runs on board and does look due, so he may be the one to beat. In the 7YO's favour is the fact he has won at Kranji Stakes C level, ran on well last start and Maia from gate 5 suggests he gets every chance. QUANTUM has also won at Class 4 level but can find his own trouble so a win would not surprise with luck in running. There are three very progressive types that should get support and run well and KHARISMA, RISE OF EMPIRE and PATTAYA can also win. Not much separates the trio but RISE OF EMPIRE did chase a good one home last start so is well worth a look. Market best guide on the newcomer SUN NOBLE. Betting Strategy - BAFFERT each-way.
1 SUN NOBLE ** Former Australian who won two from 10 and market only guide on the back of quiet trials. 12
2 BAFFERT *** Never involved before good work late last start. Can win if closer with Maia a factor. 6.00
3 BIG MARY * Will improve with racing but like to see something in Singapore before considering. 20
4 SATURNO SPRING * Argentinean who showed nothing at Singapore debut and may need much longer. 33
5 YULONG EXPRESS *** Just fair with support last start on the Poly but won maiden on the turf and should figure. 6.00
6 QUANTUM *** Threatening to win a race like this and should figure late. 10
7 RISE OF EMPIRE *** Beaten by a handy type last start but gets his chance here from gate 3. 4.00
8 KHARISMA *** Supported and swamped last start over 1400m so back to winning trip suits and forward run expected. 6.00
9 PATTAYA *** Broke maiden status in fine style last start and looks up to this with gate 2 a bonus. 6.00
10 BLACK QUAIL * First beaten last start and may be nuisance value only in this field. 33
11 OVERCOMING ** Worked home well enough late last start to keep safe but may need Class 5 to win. 20
12 EL CHAPO * Took a drop to Class 5 to win and that may be his caper. 33
13 IT'S GOT IT ALL * Speedster who will be tested by wide gate. 33
14 ELITE WATERGHOST ** Argentinean who had excuses last start (bad heart) and has trialled well since. Watch market. 33

Race 5

Selections; 1 MR SHOWMAN - 8 LAKSANA - 2 EASY SOUTH EAST - 3 QIJI STAR
A terrible race with no horses coming off better than a last start fifth which suggests we play with extreme caution and the tote will obviously be a good guide on the day. In saying that, MR SHOWMAN could be streets ahead of this lot and while the two-time-placed Kiwi maiden flopped with support on his Singapore debut, his jockey suggested he didn't handle the track and his trial form prior had been exceptional so he could be hard to beat with heavy support likely on the Poly. Who beats him? EASY SOUTH EAST has had his chances but has certainly shown enough to think he can win one of these, while QIJI STAR is another speedster who may appreciate blinkers off for this. The improver and one to watch is LAKSANA who was never involved on debut from a wide gate but his trial form suggests he has more to offer with a senior hoop from gate 3 factors. Betting Strategy - MR SHOWMAN win, saver on LAKSANA.
1 MR SHOWMAN *** Kiwi maiden who flopped with support at Singapore debut but rider suggested wet track an issue. Hard to beat on the Poly on very good trial form. 1.60
2 EASY SOUTH EAST *** Had his chances but has the speed to overcome wide gate and in this a very long way. 4.00
3 QIJI STAR ** Speedster who has struggled at the business end so blinkers off might see improvement. Keep safe. 9.00
4 LOVING BABE * Blinkers off and gate 2 helps but needs to show more before considering. 33
5 ANOTHER SHOW * Upgrade to blinkers but battles as a rule. 33
6 RIVER RUBY * No. 33
7 DAWNBREAKER * Appreciates first up run and blinkers off but needs to show more. 33
8 LAKSANA *** Ignore debut when never involved from wide gate an date on good trial form prior with Beuzelin and gate 3 a factor. 8.00
9 BEAUTY LUCK * Gets blinkers but hard to have. 33
10 BOHEMIAN * More runs than Bradman and still a maiden. 100
11 ALMALEK * Battler by the looks. 50

Race 6

Selections; 3 SUN GENERAL - 8 BLUE CHIP - 12 SCOOTER - 7 SHANGANI
A typical Class 5 raffle over 1800m and it may pay to have a look for value with 10 or so
horses with good winning claims. There are two last start winners in the race and both SCOOTER - who probably leads and gives a sight from gate 1 - and RED RIDING WOOD can win again with support likely. However, SUN GENERAL ran RED RIDING WOOD to the wire last start, gets a 2kg swing in the weights and gets his chance from gate 2. Of the others, Maia stays on BLUE CHIP who appreciates a solid first up run and he must be respected over 1800m, while MIDDLE KINGDOM, APOLLO ROCK, SHANGANI all go close on best form - the latter hopefully at odds given his poor form in the race book. JUPITER DRAGON, LITTLE MASTER and LEMON SQUASH just another three to watch with value the key. Betting Strategy - SUN GENERAL win, saver on SHANGANI.
1 APOLLO ROCK *** Nothing when resuming but appreciates first up run and broke maiden this trip two back. Watch market. 12
2 RED RIDING WOOD *** Won last start over 1600m on turf and this trip no problem. Can win again. 4.00
3 SUN GENERAL *** Gave Red Riding wood something to beat last start (0.5l) and meets him 2kg better off. Can make amends. 4.00
4 LION SPIRIT * Maiden who battles. 50
5 LUCKY JINCHENG * Another maiden who may appreciate Class 5 but struggles. 50
6 MIDDLE KINGDOM *** Needs a result while in form but is due, 1800m suits and will look the winner at some stage. 10
7 SHANGANI *** Form reads badly but appreciates first up run and can win on best form in what is a suitable race. 20
8 BLUE CHIP *** Ran on solidly without being a threat when resuming but improves for the run and hard to hold out over recent winning trip. 8.00
9 JUPITER DRAGON ** Disappointing last start but gets upgrade to blinkers/pacifiers and will work home strongly. 12
10 LEMON SQUASH ** Led before being swamped late over the mile last start. Extra trip may test but is from an astute staying yard. 12
11 LITTLE MASTER ** Form only fair and drawn wide but step up to 1800m suggests improvement. 33
12 SCOOTER *** Hard to fault form, gate 1 ideal and will be hard to run down. 5.00
13 GRAVEL ROAD * Gets blinkers but drawn wide and needs to show more. 33
14 PENNSYLVANIA ** Ridden positively last start and not a mile away and worth thought if he gets a start. 20

Race 7

Selections; 8 TUESDAY - 7 INFINITE WISDOM - 5 BRUTUS - 3 WEALTH ELITE
At the Novice race conditions, 3YO's get in very well with a lightweight and happy to think debuts winners - TUESDAY and INFINITE WISDOM - are the two that fight out the finish. Both have 51.5kg - a handy 5kg swing on best of the 4YO's at the ratings - and of the two, TUESDAY looks to have more upside given he was green when winning on debut, has trialled very well since and gets a senior light-weight hoop in JP Van Der Merwe. In saying that, INFINITE WISDOM stacked them up on debut and we can expect much the same from the good gate and he may look the winner at some stage. The other to watch at the rating-to-weight ratio is the maiden BRUTUS who showed last start he is up to this type of race, while SATURDAY, GOLD PRIZE and WEALTH ELITE will keep them all honest - the latter at odds. Betting Strategy - TUESDAY strong win.
1 SATURDAY ** Resuming sans blinkers on the back of a solid trial. Handles the Poly but giving weight at the conditions. 8.00
2 GOLD PRIZE ** In form, recent trial was good but not in best at the race conditions so well need to be at his best. 8.00
3 WEALTH ELITE ** Blinkers off after battling away last start but has ability and could work into this late at odds. 25
4 UPGRADED * Struggled when resuming but gets tongue-tie. Only win was over longer. 50
5 BRUTUS ** Maiden who place in a Novice event last start and handles the Poly so keep safe with tongue-tie added. 8.00
6 LIM'S BESTBREAKER * Maiden who can find easier sans winkers. 50
7 INFINITE WISDOM *** Dictated terms when winning well on debut and in well at the conditions as a 3YO. Can win. 4.00
8 TUESDAY *** Green but won well on debut. Subsequent trial nice enough to think he will improve for the run and hard to beat at the race conditions. 1.80
9 HENG XING * Australian-bred 3YO who didn't show up at Official Trial. 33

Race 8

Selections; 5 FIDDLESTICK - 3 RED ROAR - 6 PHAXE - 8 SUPER TALENT
An extremely weak Class 5 where it is hard to make a case for many. RED ROAR sat wide and got the job done last start over 1100m; he steps up to 1200m but has speed and from the better gate will be hard to past. The other with recent form is FIDDLESTICK who has been runner-up at his past two starts; this distance suits and he will be handy throughout. PHAXE is a 4YO Maiden but has fewer convictions than most, his two runs since resuming have been solid and he should be running on. SUPER TALENT is still a Maiden after 22 starts but just missed in a similar race two starts back; he will get a good run throughout and has found a weak race. SILVER WAY and MY MONEY for exotics. Betting Strategy - terrible race, PHAXE each-way.
1 FAIRY'S WING * Resuming. Could improve in Class 5 but has shown nothing to date. 100
2 HAPPY LUCKY STAR * Has struggled since resuming. Gate no help. 100
3 RED ROAR *** Sat wide and was too good last start. Up in trip but from good gate should be prominent for a long way. 3.00
4 CIZEN LUCKY * Drops back in trip after battling effort over 1600m on turf. Well-drawn but only win was 1400m on turf. 33
5 FIDDLESTICK *** Runner-up at past two outings in this grade. Suited here and should be in the finish. 3.00
6 PHAXE *** Has run on at both outings since resuming. Improving Maiden who can run on. 5.00
7 SILVER WAY ** Struggled when resuming but has trialled since and blinkers may help. Awkwardly drawn but has the speed to be prominent. 16
8 SUPER TALENT *** Just missed here two starts back but only battled last outing. Still a Maiden after 22 starts but should be handy throughout. 5.00
9 LIM'S TRAVEL * Did nothing when resuming. Only placing was at 1600m. Needs to improve. 50
10 HOLY GRAIL * Resuming. Has won one of 39 and best form over longer. 50
11 MY MIRACLE * Blinkers back on but has struggled since resuming. Needs to improve. 50
12 MY MONEY ** Yet to win in 27 starts but not far away when resuming. Poorly drawn but could run on. 16
13 BIG REGARDS * Blinkers off after poor effort when resuming. Drops back in trip and better on turf. 33
14 DAVID'S STAR * Led before weakening when resuming. Yet to win in 26 starts but has speed and should be prominent. 25

Race 9

Selections; 7 CODIGOS - 1 SUN HOLIDAY - 10 NINETEEN GALE - 2 SHOWCASE THE GOLD
Another very weak race with most stepping up to the mile in the hope they will do better over longer. CODIGOS has been trying for a while but is fitter for two outings since resuming, has placed at his past four outings around this trip and won't find a more suitable race; with Beuzelin to ride can get the job done. The European import SUN HOLIDAY played up at the gates but ran a distant placing on his Singapore debut; he is well drawn and will benefit from positive ride over the longer trip. One to watch is the NINETEEN GALE (late Declare War) who was held up before making ground late over this trip last start; Stewards queried the ride and he can improve for Benny Woodworth. SHOWCASE THE GOLD wasn't far behind SUN HOLIDAY last start, fitter for three Singapore outings, 1600m should suit and he can be in the finish. WIND RHAPSODY and NEWTON have pedigrees that suggest they could improve at this trip and if the second emergency TOBRUK gets a start, he has the form to beat them all. Betting Strategy - CODIGOS win.
1 SUN HOLIDAY *** Played up at gates but ran a distant placing on Singapore debut. Well drawn and will benefit from positive ride over longer trip. 3.00
2 SHOWCASE THE GOLD *** Finished just behind SUN HOLIDAY last start. Fitter for three Singapore outings and this distance may suit. Should be in the finish 6.00
3 BLACK TAIPAN * Up in trip but has shown nothing since resuming. 100
4 GALLANT BLACK * Gets winkers but has shown nothing to date. 100
5 HAPPY FRIDAY * Placed on poly three starts back but has disappointed since. Steps up in trip and poorly drawn. 50
6 WIND RHAPSODY * Has done nothing in three outings. Blinkers and extra distance may help. 20
7 CODIGOS *** Fitter for two outings since resuming. Has been trying for a while but won't find a more suitable race. Should be handy throughout. 2.50
8 NEWTON * Did nothing when resuming but extra distance may suit. Watch for support. 20
9 FORT MUSTANG * Has shown nothing since resuming. Has some speed but gate no help. 50
10 NINETEEN GALE *** Late Declare War. Was held up before making ground late over this trip last start (jockey queried). Can improve for Benny Woodworth. 6.00
11 ACCUMULATION * Only battled when resuming. Had to be pushed hard to win recent trial but has placed three of six tries at this trip. Could show up. 16
12 BEAUTY SPIRIT * Has shown nothing in ten starts. 100
13 CAPONE ** Did nothing when resuming but gets blinkers and can improve. 100
14 TOBRUK *** Runner-up at both starts since resuming. Suited this trip and hard to beat if he gets a start. 3.00

Race 10

Selections; 7 TOM CAT - 6 I AM SACRED - 10 LIM'S FORCE - 3 THOMAS DE LAGO
Some depth in this Class 4 where the speed should be on from the outset. TOM CAT has shown promise at his five Singapore starts and was narrowly beaten by THOMAS DE LAGO when resuming over 1000m; he will be improved by that run and over 1100m from a good gate, will be hard to pass. I AM SACRED disappointed last start after a dominant Maiden win at his Singapore debut; Mark Walker has put the tongue-tie on and from a good gate he can improve. THOMAS DE LAGO is up 3.5kg after winning over 1000m last start in this grade but he has won at the trip and should be prominent. LIM'S FORCE has fought hard at both outings over 1000m since resuming, is better suited by this trip and with Harry Kasim to ride from gate one should be in the finish. THE BROTHERHOOD isn't helped by the gate but his form is solid and should be handy with Benny Woodworth up. Betting Strategy - TOM CAT win.
1 EXDREAM ** First beaten last start after solid Singapore debut on Poly. Gets a tongue-tie but wide gate no help. 25
2 PINDUS ** Disappointing when dropping o this grade last start but has trialled since and better gate helps. Best over 1000m but keep safe. 20
3 THOMAS DE LAGO *** Won narrowly over 1000m last start. Rises 3.5kg but has won twice at this trip and should be prominent. 6.00
4 DAVID'S SLING ** Resuming. Has had issues but smart when right and trip suits. Watch market. 33
5 DESPACITO * Resuming with tongue-tie added. Better suited at 1200m but will be running on. 25
6 I AM SACRED *** Disappointed in Novice last start after dominant Maiden win at Singapore debut. Tongue-tie helps and should be prominent. 4.00
7 TOM CAT *** Run down late over 1000m when resuming. Well drawn and should be prominent for a long way. 3.00
8 THE BROTHERHOOD *** Fought on well in a similar race last start following Maiden win when resuming. Poorly drawn again but gets Benny Woodworth and has speed to overcome gate. 6.00
9 ALWAYS INNOCENT * Led and weakened last start. Has struggled since resuming and poorly drawn again. 50
10 LIM'S FORCE *** Has fought hard at both outings over 1000m since resuming. Better suited this trip and from gate one should be in the finish. 6.00
11 WELL DESERVED * Won Class 5 last start but will find this harder. 50
12 SKY EYE * Maiden with some ability but will find this too hard. 50
13 PROOF PERFECT * Fitter for three outings since resuming. Yet to win in Singapore but trip suits and can be handy from the good gate. 20
14 STAR EMPIRE * Sat on speed before fading late last start. Fitter now but gate no help. 33

Race 11

Selections; 7 GOLD COMPANY - 1 TRAFALGAR - 2 ZOFFSPEED - 6 MILITARY CHAIRMAN
Plenty of one-pacers in this Class 5 over 1800m and it might be survival of the fittest. GOLD COMPANY doesn't win often but he ran on well last start over 1600m, this distance suits and if he gets a strong tempo, he can win. ZOFFSPEED steps up to 1800m but his form around 1600m is solid and from the good gate with Marc Lerner can go forward, take luck out of the equation and be hard to pass. TRAFALGAR is still a Maiden and failed at his only previous attempt at 1800m but that was in Class 4; he is better suited here and has run on at both outings since resuming. MILITARY CHAIRMAN's only win is at 1600m but he wasn't far away when resuming and should be improved. TIGRESS, BROTHER MAK MAK and CLARTON SUPREME are all possibilities if they get the right tempo. Betting Strategy - GOLD COMPANY win but look for value on the day.
1 TRAFALGAR *** Yet to win in eight starts but has placed three times. Failed at only previous attempt this trip but that was in Class 4. Can win in Class 5. 6.00
2 ZOFFSPEED *** Not far away at both outings since resuming. Can go forward from the good gate and be hard to pass. 3.00
3 TIGRESS ** Resuming. Trialled well and suited this trip. Poorly drawn but has the speed to be prominent. 10
4 HIDDEN PROMISE ** Yet to win beyond 1600m but always some show and gets the favours from gate 4 with Maia. 12
5 HIGH STREET * Tested on recent efforts. 100
6 MILITARY CHAIRMAN *** Got back and ran on well when resuming over 1600m. Will strip fitter but only win at 1600m. 6.00
7 GOLD COMPANY *** Ran on from well back over 1600m last start. Suited this class and distance. Will get back but be strong late. 5.00
8 SPEEDY ROSE * Needs to improve on recent efforts with blinkers to winkers. 50
9 BROTHER MAK MAK ** Caught wide and never sighted last start. Placed when resuming and only win was this trip. Could surprise. 10
10 TIN'S MACHINE * Has struggled since resuming. Needs to improve. 50
11 CLARTON SUPREME ** Still a Maiden but not far away at both outings since resuming. Poorly drawn but could run on. 20
12 IRON FIST ** Maiden who did not show up when resuming but will be fitter for the run and can consider. 20
13 LIM'S RHYTHM ** Disappointed last start but previous efforts sound and this trip suits. Gets winkers and can show-up from the good gate. 20
14 MAXIMILIAN * Improved by recent racing and extra distance suits. Will be running on. 20

Race 12

Selections; 2 MADE IN RUSSIA - 11 TAKHI - 4 GOLD CITY - 1 SOLO SUN
None of these win out of turn and it might be one that gets the best run in transit that prevails. MADE IN RUSSIA has now had two runs back, steps up to a suitable distance and with Maia to ride should be prominent. TAKHI is a lightly raced American-bred 4YO that has shown some promise at his five outings and resumed well in a similar race last start; well drawn again he can go forward and be hard to pass. SOLO SUN battled on solidly when resuming and should be improved; this class, distance suit and the 3kg claim for Zyrul helps. It has been a long time between drinks for MCGREGOR and GOLD CITY but both are down in the ratings, have a good record at this trip and may be value. In a wide-open race MIGHTY EMPEROR, BUSHIDO, GOLAZO and FORESTO could all make their presence felt. Betting Strategy - GOLD CITY each-way.
1 SOLO SUN *** Battled on solidly when resuming. Suited class, distance and 3kg claim helps. Will be running on. 4.00
2 MADE IN RUSSIA *** Only battled last start after good effort when resuming. Extra distance suits and should be handy throughout. 5.00

Race 13

Selections; 5 TAX FREE - 1 SNIP - 9 YULONG FAST STEED - 3 UNCONQUERED
There is plenty of speed in this Class 4, which features a number in solid form since resuming, as well as some recent class droppers. TAX FREE won a similar race to this last start; he rises 2.5kg but Saifudin stays on and from gate two will get the gun run just off the speed and can get the job done again. Beware the Class dropper in SNIP who did nothing when resuming in Class 3 but has trialled since and gets blinkers; he has a good record at this trip and from gate one will be prominent for a long way. UNCONQUERED wasn't far behind TAX FREE last start, is fitter for three outings since resuming and with Marc Lerner to ride will get a good run throughout, while WINNING HOBBY ran them off their legs last start and has some upside but rises 3.5kg and needs to overcome a wide gate. YULONG FAST STEED resumed well after a long break and could go on with it with Maia a factor. Betting Strategy - TAX FREE win.
1 SNIP *** Struggled when resuming in Class 3 but has trialled since and gets blinkers. Has a good record at this trip and from gate one will be prominent for a long way. 3.50
2 MAGNUM KING ** Only battled at first outing after dropping in grade but gets a visor. Poorly drawn but gets senior rider and can run on. 12
3 UNCONQUERED *** Fought hard last start and fitter for three outings since resuming. Distance suits and should be near the speed for a long way. 4.00
4 WINNING HOBBY ** Ran them off their legs in similar company last start when blinkers went on. Rises 3.5kg and gate no help but is lightly raced and shows promise. 8.00
5 TAX FREE *** Resumed well to lead throughout and hold on in similar class last start. Rises 2.5kg but well drawn again and should be prominent. 3.50
6 QIJI ACHEEVA ** Will appreciate getting on to poly but gate no help. 25
7 SUPERMAX ** Only battled when resuming but gets blinkers back on after good trial so include in exotics at odds. 33
8 ROMANTIC ** Not far away at both outings since resuming. Rarely far away and will run on strongly. 20
9 YULONG FAST STEED *** Ran a bold race when resuming after a long break. Should be improved and can go on with it. 12
10 SUN STEP * Has battled since resuming. Has speed but gate no help. 33
11 WINNING LEGEND * Won Class 5 two starts back but only battled last start. Needs easier. 50
12 LIM'S PRIDE * Won Class 5 over 1600m last start. Will find this harder. 50
13 CALCULATION ** Resuming. Has a good record at this trip with last win being in Class 3. Watch market on the back of quiet trials. 12
14 EFFORTLESS * Last win was this class and distance but did nothing when resuming. Improvement needed. 100

Race 14

Selections; 1 COUNT ME IN - 3 STRAP MARKS - 4 VULCAN - 7 SUPERLATIVE
Some lightly raced horses with upside make this a competitive Class 4. COUNT ME IN has only had the five starts, winning two and resumed with a narrow defeat over this trip; he is awkwardly drawn but has the form on the board and with S John will be hard to hold out. VULCAN has been racing on the poly and was successful first up; he only battled last start but has performed well on turf and can improve. SUPERLATIVE wasn't far away when resuming, has only had the four outings for one win and from the good gate he can be handy throughout. SILENT FORCE turned his form around last start to just miss, Harry Kasim stays on and he will get a good run throughout. STRAP MARKS disappointed when resuming (in his defence, he did it tough) but a tongue-tie will help and he is more than capable if right with Maia a factor. Betting Strategy - COUNT ME IN win, saver on STRAP MARKS.
1 COUNT ME IN *** Ran on well when resuming. Promising type and can overcome wide gate. 3.50
2 SILENT FORCE *** Ran on late last start to be in finish of similar race. Hasn't won for a while should be improved and will get good run throughout. 5.00
3 STRAP MARKS *** Lightly raced 7YO who did it tough from wide gate on pace last start. Forget that run and seriously consider with tongue-tie added and Maia replacing apprentice. 8.00
4 VULCAN *** Battled last start but won on the poly when resuming. Rarely runs poorly and should be handy throughout. 5.00
5 GALAXY STAR ** Didn't handle heavy ground last start. Gets blinkers and could improve although gate could test. 16
6 SUN RECTITUDE ** Has only battled at past two outings and gate tests but can improve back on the turf. 25
7 SUPERLATIVE *** Made ground when resuming. Lightly raced and can improve on turf. 5.00
8 TIME TO ROCK * Led before weakening when resuming and has trialled since. Gets a tongue-tie and can improve. 16
9 STORMY VIEW ** Won Maiden easily last start. Will find this harder but has always shown ability. 25
10 BEER GARDEN * Resuming and trialled well. Form last preparation moderate. Watch market. 33
11 SUPER GREAT * Has been freshened since moderate effort when resuming. Has speed and could show up from gate one. 33
12 ATLANTEAN * Has not shown up since resuming. Better in Class 5 50
13 ASGARD MASSIF * Has done nothing in three Singapore starts. 100
14 ABSOLVIDO ** Has made ground at all three outings since resuming. Will be running on. 25
