                                                                                                                      (sp)                                                                    ___________

RACE 1: John Nisbet Maiden Plate 1600m:

Deep Encounter – Began awkwardly and, shortly afterwards, was eased from the heels of Kiterro, which shifted in. As a consequence, Deep Encounter lost ground.

Pirate Bird – Slow to begin and, from the outside barrier, was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 200m was eased to avoid the heels of Deep Encounter, which shifted out slightly. Rider S. Guymer reported that in his opinion Pirate Bird did not handle today's heavy track conditions and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr L. Price concurred with the views of S. Guymer and added that Pirate Bird will now be spelled.

Kiterro – Shifted behind runners in the early stages. L. Magorrian, the rider of 2nd placed Kiterro, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m, six more than permitted. L. Magorrian's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence on Sunday 27 June 2021 and to expire on Saturday 10 July 2021, on which day he may ride. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration his poor record in relation to this rule, this being his sixth offence within the previous 12 months.

Lala Lala – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Spinpix – Rounding the home turn was momentarily tightened for room to the inside of Lala Lala, which shifted in slightly.

RACE 2: Bruce Johnson 3YO Maiden Handicap 1400m:

Higgins – Laid out under pressure over the final 150 metres.

Antigonus – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Game Royal – Began only fairly.

Colonist – Stewards permitted B. Loy to ride the gelding ½ kilogram over its allotted weight of 56½ kilograms. Shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Dante Alighieri – Raced ungenerously in the early stages and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained. Raced wide and without cover until passing the 800m when allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader Choice Deel.

Ragman – Near the 1100m raced ungenerously and got its head up when being restrained. Rider J. Penza stated that in his opinion the colt failed to handle today's heavy track conditions and this was the principal reason for today's disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Edgewise – Change of tactics - to be ridden conservatively: Settled behind midfield. Began awkwardly.

RACE 4: Peter Cuddihy Provincial and Country Maiden Plate 1000m:

Damaged – Trainer Mr R. Litt was fined $50 under AR65 for failing to produce the thoroughbred identification card for the gelding when requested. Raced keenly in the middle stages. When questioned, B. McDougall stated that the principal reasons for the poor performance of Damaged were that it was racing first-up without a barrier trial; it had to carry top weight of 62 kilograms and failed to handle today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Bondi Blue – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Near the 900m was bumped and taken in by Damaged, which shifted in. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out under pressure over the final 150 metres.

Ugly Nicos – was a late scratching at 1.10 p.m. due to the track downgrade.

Ale Magic – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Rider L. Magorrian stated that the filly, although successful on a heavy track surface on 25 May 2021, did not feel comfortable and dipped on a number of occasions throughout the event, which he attributed to Ale Magic's failure to handle today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Ms G. Markwell concurred with the views of rider L. Magorrian and advised Stewards that she would report back on the post-race condition of Ale Magic in the days subsequent.

Eberlee – Blundered shortly after the start.

Our Baez – Began only fairly.

Seelie Queen – On jumping was bumped by Damaged and became unbalanced. From a wide barrier Seelie Queen was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Willy Wilson – Rider R. Freeman-Key stated that she was instructed to ride the gelding behind the leaders, however, after beginning well her mount commenced to race keenly and when Eberlee, which was positioned to her outside, did not show any intent to lead, she allowed Willy Wilson to stride forward and assume the lead near the 1000m, which was further forward than anticipated. Willy Wilson continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages.

RACE 5: Barry Smith Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap 1200m:

Galaxy Force – Blundered shortly after the start. Near the 900m had to be eased to avoid the heels of Lettre D'amour (W. Costin), which shifted in when not clear. W. Costin was advised to exercise more care and ensure that she provides sufficient room for other runners. Raced keenly at the heels of Lettre D'amour throughout the middle stages and, approaching the 800m, had to be shifted out to avoid that runner's heels when continuing to race keenly.

From The Bush – Laid out under pressure in the straight.

Night Flyer – Slow to begin and, from a wide barrier, was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Speed And Style – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Dynamited – Shortly after the start was bumped by Galaxy Force, which shifted out. Near the 900m had to be eased to avoid the heels of Galaxy Force. When questioned, rider B. McDougall stated that Dynamited was not suited by having to make a long, sustained run on today's heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 6: Chantelle Johnson Class 1 Handicap 1400m:

Deadly Impact – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

Mission Legend – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Titled Tycoon – Began only fairly. When questioned, rider G. Buckley stated that Titled Tycoon did not handle today's heavy track conditions and would benefit from the application of blinkers to its raceday gear. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Dryden was advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, will be required prior to Express Courier having to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. As this was the second occasion that Express Courier had displayed cardiac arrhythmia since 12 May 2021, Mr Dryden was further advised that the gelding must be referred to a specialist for echocardiography, including blood samples to test the levels of cardiac troponin, the results of which will be forwarded to Racing NSW Chief Veterinary Officer Dr T. Koenig for further analysis.

Tochi – was a late scratching at 1.46 p.m. due to the track downgrade.

Pecuniary Interest – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Joe’s Joy – Trainer Mr R. Litt was fined $200 under LR35(2) for failing to declare L. Magorrian as the rider of the mare by the prescribed time. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. When questioned, L. Magorrian stated when attempting to improve near the 250m he was disappointed for a run between Telfer, which shifted out, and Azaryah, which laid in. He said that, as a result, he shifted Joe's Joy to the inside of Telfer passing the 200m whereby Joe's Joy was again disappointed for a run between Sepulchre and Telfer, which shifted in.
