Race 1 KENNEDY PLATE - 1100 metres:

Hydro Star Slow to begin.

Lariat Began awkwardly.

Parlophone Performed below market expectations. Rider Jamie Kah could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, other than superficial abrasions to the near hind fetlock. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Tiny Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Became unbalanced passing the 600m after brushing with Nantucket. Disappointing. Rider Damien Oliver reported his mount did not appear suited to the straight course. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near hind leg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Aquagirl Began awkwardly. Weakened from the 200m. Rider Damian Lane could offer no explanation for the performance, other than he would suggest the filly may be better suited on a circuit rather than a straight course. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Japery Began awkwardly. Apprentice Tahlia Hope pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 10 times prior to the 100m which is five more than permitted. Tahlia Hope had her permit to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 17 January 2021 and to expire midnight 24 January 2021, a total of eight race meetings (3 metropolitan and 5 provincial.) Tahlia Hope was also fined $1200. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account her guilty plea, totality of whip strikes (10), her record, the fact she did not use the whip in the final 100 metres and that she won the race.

Nantucket Rider Joe Bowditch reported the gelding may be better suited over more ground and on the circle course.

Race 2 SUMMER TWILIGHT RACING TROPHY - 1600 metres:

Packer's Bond Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Hasseltoff Held up for clear running from the 500m until having to shift out across heels passing the 300m. Rider Jamie Kah reported she was unable to shift out sooner than she did after having committed herself to the inside on straightening.

Saccharo Weakened from the 200m. Apprentice Campbell Rawiller reported the gelding raced flat. Post-race endoscopy detected a throat condition that may have affected the gelding's racing performance. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Race 3 POLYTRACK HANDICAP - 1100 metres:

Chevalier D'Eon Trainer John McArdle was fined $100 under the provisions of LR63A(2)(b) for the late notification of the rider.

Modear Slow to begin. Apprentice Tahlia Hope reported after being slow to begin, she then elected to shift to the outside, as in her view the mare races best when outside other runners.

Li'l Kontra Hung out under pressure from the 400m.

Race 4 LEXUS SUMMER EVENT TROPHY - 2000 metres:

Quarterback Zac (NZ) Change of tactics: more forward. Raced awkwardly between Wise Dragon and Alloway for several strides shortly after the start and then settled towards the rear of the field.

Johnny Karate Slow to begin. When racing keenly passing the 1400m was steadied off the heels of Swift Sure.

Alloway Began awkwardly.

Mystique Falcon (NZ) Began awkwardly.

Cakewalk Baby Bumped shortly after the start with Swelter Magic (NZ). Apprentice Teodore Nugent reported he settled further back than intended after being inconvenienced when bumped shortly after the start.

Swelter Magic (NZ) Floundered at the start and was then bumped by Cakewalk Baby.

Swift Sure Eased down in the home straight. Became unbalanced and lost its action near the 900m and again near the 600m. Rider Dean Yendall reported the gelding faltered twice in running and for this reason eased it down in the straight. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Matthew Williams was advised the gelding will be required to jump out to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again.

Chequerboard Weakened from the 200m. Apprentice Thomas Stockdale reported the filly did not run out a strong 2000 metres. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Narvaez Disappointing. After being ridden positively from the start, then settled midfield due to the good speed from the outside horses coming across. Rider Damien Oliver reported that in his view the colt requires the re‑application of blinkers. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 5 FURPHY REFRESHING ALE TROPHY - 1600 metres:

Amadeus Raced three wide without cover. When giving ground near the 300m was steadied when tightened for room between Call Me Handsome (IRE) which shifted in slightly and Kentucky Breeze (C. Rawiller) which after initially shifting out was then taken out further by Delectation Girl (GB) (F.W. Kersley). Campbell Rawiller and Fred W. Kersley were advised to exercise more care in future. Trainer Michael Kent advised he would recommend to connections that the horse be retired. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Call Me Handsome (IRE) After being caught wide passing the 1400m was restrained in an attempt to find cover.

Kentucky Breeze Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the 300m. When questioned, apprentice Campbell Rawiller reported he was instructed to settle midfield and after beginning reasonably well, he was left in a three-wide position before then deciding to restrain and take up a position behind Over Exposure. He added that due to the outside speed crossing the field, he then settled further back than intended. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Delectation Girl (GB) Held up for clear running from the 500m until passing the 300m.

Valac (IRE) Held up for clear running from the 500m until passing the 300m but then failed to run on.

Five Kingdom Weakened from the 300m. Apprentice Lachlan King reported that in his view the gelding would be better suited with the application of blinkers. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 6 INCOGNITUS PLATE - 1400 metres:

Alpha Sky Raced three wide without cover.

Holbien Raced in restricted room to the inside of Viral from the 100m.

Polanco Raced keenly through the middle stages. Raced in restricted room from the 100m to the inside of Holbien.

Mr Money Bags Apprentice Campbell Rawiller reported the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 7 KENSINGTON STAKES LISTED - 1000 metres:

Bons Away Slow to begin.

Pandemic Began awkwardly.

Mister Mogul Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Great Duchess.

Sword Of Mercy Tightened for room shortly after the start by Great Duchess which shifted in away from Mister Mogul.

Prezado Weakened from the 250m. Rider Jamie Kah could offer no explanation, other than the gelding was disappointing after racing kindly through the middle stages. Co-trainer Simon Zahra reported that he was expecting Prezado to race well and in hindsight may have had the gelding a little too fresh. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Fabergino Approaching the finishing line, rider Jordan Childs accidentally dropped his whip.

Race 8 SEPPELT DRUMBORG TROPHY - 2000 metres:

Ripcord (NZ) Trainer Paul Preusker was fined $200 under AR65 for the failure to produce the Thoroughbred Identity Card for the gelding. Tightened for room at the start between Long Arm (IRE) and Influential Girl which shifted out abruptly.

Savvy Oak (NZ) Slow to begin.

Yulong Captain (IRE) Slow to begin.

Miss Damita (NZ) Began awkwardly. Rider Dean Yendall could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Long Arm (IRE) Hampered at the start when heavily bumped on the hindquarters by Ripcord (NZ). Steadied near the 50m to avoid the heels of Sikorsky (D. Stackhouse) which shifted out.

Influential Girl Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Disappointing. Apprentice Lewis German reported that in his view the mare did not handle the quick back-up from 9 January 2021. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Re Edit Raced three wide without cover. Steadied at the 500m to avoid the heels of Takumi (IRE) which shifted to the outside of Long Arm (IRE) which was also shifting out at this stage.

Walking Flying (NZ) Raced wide from the 800m.

Double Bluff (IRE) Eased down in the straight. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Takumi (IRE) Steadied at the 50m to avoid the heels of Coolth (J. McNeil) which shifted in.

Jye McNeil (Coolth) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that near the 50m he failed to make sufficient effort to straighten his mount when shifting in when not clear of Takumi (IRE) which had to steady to avoid Coolth's heels. Rider Jye McNeil had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 16 January 2021 and to expire midnight 23 January 2021, a total of 8 race meetings (3 metropolitan, 5 provincial). In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his guilty plea, record and that the carelessness was in the low range.

Daniel Stackhouse (Sikorsky) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that near the 50m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Long Arm (IRE), resulting in that gelding having to be steadied to avoid Sikorsky's heels. Daniel Stackhouse had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 17 January 2021 and to expire midnight 24 January 2021, a total of 8 race meetings (3 metropolitan, 5 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, excellent record and that the carelessness was in the low range.

Terbium Led and weakened from the 200m. Disappointing. Apprentice Campbell Rawiller reported it was not the intention to lead but after beginning well and with the slow tempo, he comfortably settled in front. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Mystery Shot Disappointing. Weakened from 250m. Eased at the 1000m to avoid the heels of Terbium which was shifting out. Apprentice Will Price could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken for analysis. Trainer Lindsey Smith reported that he was very disappointed with the performance. Unfortunately the gelding could not be scoped subsequent to its race today due to being fractious and on return to the stable Lindsey Smith will request that the stable veterinarian assess the horse, which will include further blood samples.
