Field of 16 for the Rosehill Gold Cup

The $500,000, Kypreos Group Rosehill Gold Cup (2000m) has a field of 16 at Rosehill on Saturday with Purple Sector (NZ) and Wu Gok the TAB opening market favourites at $6.00.

John Thompson’s Purple Sector (NZ) has produced two good results in his two starts for this campaign commencing with a second in the Benchmark 88 over 1400m at Rosehill on September 26th and then winning the Spring Mile over 1600m at Randwick on October 17th.

Rachel King rode with 52kg in the Spring Mile and with the light impost they cleared out from the field to win with 3L in hand. On Saturday Purple Sector has 53kg under King and they have barrier four.

Chris Waller’s Wu Gok has 58.5kg under Brenton Avdulla with barrier 12.

Warwick Farm’s Bjorn Baker has accepted with Fun Fact, Josh Parr with 58.5kg and barrier six, and She’s Ideel, Tim Clark with 53kg and barrier 16, after their first and third respectively in the ATC St Leger over 2600m at Randwick on October 17th.

Fun Fact carried 57.5kg under Josh Parr to win with a length margin over Brimham Rocks (GB) with She’s Ideel carrying 53.5kg under King.

The Gold Cup is Race 6 at 3.25pm on the nine race programme.

The meeting commences at 12.05pm with a field of 14 for the $75,000, TAB Highway (1200m).

The $1m, Yes Yes Yes Stakes (1300m) is Race 7 at 4.10pm and the $7.5m Iron Jack Golden Eagle (1500m) is Race 8 at 4.50pm.

The track is rated a Heavy 9 on Wednesday after 20mm of rain in the last 24 hours and 70mm for the last seven days. The rail will be in the True position for the entire circuit.

Significant rain is forecast with up to 20m possible on Wednesday, 15mm to 40mm on Thursday and 6mm to 20mm on Saturday with 15c to 27c.
