Monday: 3.35 Roscommon
Ballymore Group Irish EBF Kilbegnet Novice Chase | 2m½f | Grade 3 | RTV
Six is likely to become five with Joseph O'Brien revealing that Druid's Altar may not take part. One bullet may be enough for O'Brien, however, as Embittered will be the top rated off 141 if his stablemate does not take part.
Embittered reached 146 over hurdles and took advantage of what looked a good opportunity at Killarney to open his account over fences at the eighth attempt. He has plenty of experience and is likely to fight out the finish.
The Henry de Bromhead-trained Bold Enough is a course-and-distance winner and will be suited by coming back to 2m on this flatter track after a big effort when third over 2m3f at Galway.
Just a couple of pounds separates Bold Enough, Embittered and Exit Poll, but De Bromhead's charge will need to give 4lb to those rivals and even more weight to the rest of the field.
He may well be up to the task but the Jessica Harrington-trained Exit Poll will not be a pushover and comes into this after a much-deserved Kilbeggan success.
The field is completed by the mares Presenting Bonnie and Hurricane Georgie. Black type would be a result for both and the latter could be better placed to achieve it in receipt of all the allowances.
What they say
Joseph O'Brien, trainer of Embittered and Druid's Altar
Druid’s Altar is an unlikely runner. Embittered has been in good shape since he won his beginners’ chase and this race has been the plan ever since. It looks a competitive little race but I’m hoping for a good run.
Jessica Harrington, trainer of Exit Poll
It's a tight race and it will come down to who's in the best form. I couldn't be happier with Exit Poll and he has a fantastic chance. He deserved his Kilbeggan win and has a good chance on ratings.
John Ryan, trainer of Presenting Bonnie
She got stung by a wasp after she won at Kilbeggan and got a bad reaction. In hindsight, it might have been the best thing that ever happened to her, because she was stupid fit. Now she's nice and fresh. With those mares, you need a certain amount of freshness. I'm going there to win but black type would be a nice consolation.
Gordon Elliott, trainer of Hurricane Georgie
She came out of Downpatrick very well and we felt she had little to lose getting all the allowances. It would be great to get some black type with her.
