Diligent Harry goes in midweek feature at Lingfield Park

Promising sprinter Diligent Harry aims to continue the perfect start to his career in the Ladbrokes Watch Racing Online For Free Handicap (3.55pm) at Lingfield Park on Wednesday, March 10.

With a strong field declared, the six-furlong contest promises to be a good pointer to the Ladbrokes All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championship over the course and distance on Finals Day, Good Friday, April 2.

Diligent Harry (Clive Cox/Adam Kirby) has oozed quality in his two starts to date. The Due Diligence colt made all in a six-furlong maiden at Wolverhampton in January before having no issue with the drop back to five furlongs when taking a novice event by four and a half lengths at Kempton Park on February 16.

Trainer Clive Cox said today: “Diligent Harry has been very pleasing in his first two starts, and the handicapper has given him a rating of 90.

“He is a really impressive horse and, for all this is a step up in quality for him, we are looking forward to taking that next step.

“He is still learning his trade and would not be as battle-hardened as most of the competitors, but he is making excellent progress and we like him.”

The opposition includes another twice-raced unbeaten colt in Popmaster (Ed Walker/Richard Kingscote). He overcame awkward starts to capture novice contests at Kempton Park in October and November.

Significantly (Karl Burke/Clifford Lee) makes his handicap debut following a 141-day break. A Listed runner-up on turf, he defeated Yazaman in the opening Fast-Track Qualifier of the season at Newcastle in late October.

Bedford Flyer (Les Eyre/Lewis Edmunds) is chasing a hat-trick as he tackles six furlongs for the first time. He has been off the track since making all to win a five-furlong handicap at Lingfield Park on November 25.

The weights are headed by Charlie Fellowes (George Scott/David Egan), who was an easy winner of novice auction events at Wolverhampton and Southwell before going down by a head in a handicap over the course and distance on February 13.

Ryan Moore partners Rohaan (David Evans), one of two rides for the former champion on the card. Rohaan reeled off three quickfire wins in the month of December, including an easy success over the course and distance.

Secret Handsheikh (Archie Watson/Hollie Doyle) has impressed on the Fibresand at Southwell on his two most recent starts, taking handicaps by a combined distance of eight and a half lengths.

A Pint Of Bear (Scott Dixon/Luke Morris), a winner at Southwell in December and fifth behind Secret Handsheikh last time out, completes the eight runners.
