Rider Michael Walker was examined by the Club Doctor on arrival and was passed fit to ride.

 

Race 1 GLYNN BRAMICH MEMORIAL HCP - 1100 metres:

Algadon Miss On jumping away, shifted out and bumped Miss Iano.

Wayupinthesky Raced three wide without cover.

How Womantic Passing the 200m was taken wide by Kalkarni Royale which laid out.

Kalkarni Royale Laid out under pressure in the straight.

Be My Star Weakened in the straight. Rider Jamie Kah could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 2 MRC RMHC PIN & WIN HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Easy Beast (NZ) Resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Lost the near fore plate in running.

Moor Wanted Slow to begin.

Jittery Jack Raced three wide without cover. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Rainbow Thief (NZ) Raced four wide without cover. Rider Jamie Kah could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Clean Acheeva Held up from the 400m before shifting out near the 150m.

Aspirate Had to be steadied away from the heels of Clean Acheeva (L. Currie) which shifted out passing the 150m. Rider Luke Currie was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Not Mine (GER) Rider Jamie Mott could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 3 PETER COMLEY HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

Sin To Win (NZ) Slow to begin.

Wyclif (GB) Slow to begin.

Irish Flame (NZ) Began awkwardly.

Ghodeleine Raced three wide without cover. Rider Jamie Kah reported being caught wide in the early stages and therefore she allowed her mount to stride forward and settle further forward than anticipated.

Le Baol (FR) Brushed on the hindquarters passing the 600m by Ghodeleine which had been taken in by Good Idea which was hanging in. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Saracen Knight (IRE) Held up from the 300m until passing the 200m.

Lord Bouzeron (NZ) Apprentice Lachlan Neindorf was notified to ride all his mounts out hands and heels to the line.

Good Idea When questioned regarding his tactics, apprentice Michael Poy advised he was instructed to ride the gelding as forward as possible and to have Good idea in a winning position rounding the home turn. He added that after settling further back than intended, he then elected to ride the gelding forward from the 800m in an attempt to be positioned near the lead as instructed rounding the home turn and ensuring he was not caught behind runners. Trainer Phillip Stokes confirmed the instructions and was satisfied with the tactics adopted.

No Effort Rider Jason Maskiell explained that after allowing Good Idea to go forward to his outside, he then elected to shift to the outside of that gelding and ride forward passing the 700m to keep his mount rolling into the race to allow him the opportunity to gain an advantage early in the straight.

 

Race 4 - BECK PROBUILD TESTA ROSSA STAKES LISTED - 1200 metres:

Brave Song Slow to begin.

 

Race 5 HERE FOR THE HORSES HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Windstorm Shifted out on jumping away and bumped Alsvin. When over-racing near the 1000m had to be steadied off the heels of Simply Invincible.

Buffalo River (USA) Raced keenly in the early stages.

Super Titus (GB) Tailed off. Apprentice Michael Poy could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 6 NEDS CAULFIELD GUINEAS PRELUDE GROUP 3 - 1400 metres:

National Choice Change of tactics: attempt to lead with the addition of blinkers. Led.

Aysar Slow to begin.

Flying Award Slow to begin. Rider Damien Oliver reported that on pulling up the colt was making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Prague A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be suffering from colic.

 

Race 7 SCHWEPPES THOUSAND GUINEAS PRELUDE GROUP 2 - 1400 metres:

Instant Celebrity Slow to begin.

Annavisto (NZ) Raced three wide without cover. Rider Jye McNeil reported the filly over-raced in the early stages and failed to respond to his riding in the straight. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Ecumenical Raced four wide without cover.

Rock My Wand In the home straight laid in.

River Night Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Tailed off. Rider Damian Lane could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Mozzie Monster Rider Jamie Kah reported the filly may have come to the end of its preparation. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer John Sadler confirmed that the filly would be spelled.

Jenni's Rainbow A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Race 8 HYLAND RACE COLOURS UNDERWOOD STAKES GROUP 1 - 1800 metres:

Harbour Views (FR) Began awkwardly. Rider John Allen advised he had intended and was instructed to ride the gelding in a forward position, however after having begun awkwardly, he was obliged to settle at the rear of the field. He added that Harbour Views (FR) travelled well until the 400m when a run presented between The Chosen One (NZ) and Mr Quickie and from that point he rode the gelding out where it made good ground to the line but peaked on its run near the 100m when awkwardly placed between Trap For Fools and Gailo Chop (FR) for a few strides.

Gailo Chop (FR) Began awkwardly, resulting in rider Dean Yendall becoming unbalanced.

So Si Bon Rider Daniel Stackhouse reported the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

The Chosen One (NZ) Rider Michael Dee could offer no explanation for the performance other than the horse was agitated pre-race. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 9 EVERGREEN TURF HANDICAP - 1700 metres:

Lord Durante (12-year-old) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course and was passed fit to race.

Furrion (GB) Slow to begin.

Kentucky Breeze Raced wide without cover in the middle stages.

Inverloch (IRE) Weakened from the 250m and was eased down. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame behind. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Benalla, 25 September 2020

Thunderdome Co-trainer Troy Corstens notified Stewards that Thunderdome bled from both nostrils on the way home from Benalla races and would now be retired.
