Racing Victoria (RV), Country Racing Victoria (CRV) and the Buchan & Gelantipy Race Club are pleased to confirm that Buchan Cup Day will proceed on Saturday, 15 February 2020.
On Wednesday 22 January 2020, RV Steward Brent Scarlett, picnic jockeys Grant Seccombe and Caitlin King, and trainer Bob Triplow conducted an inspection of Buchan Racecourse, along with CRV, RV, and Buchan Club personnel, headed by CRV CEO Scott Whiteman.
Following the track inspection, the Stewards and jockeys were satisfied that the Buchan Cup Day meeting will be able to proceed as scheduled.
“We are thrilled that Buchan Cup Day is able to go ahead as planned. This is a racing club which has raced for 132 years, and we are delighted that their annual meeting hasn’t been waylaid by the bushfires," said Country Racing Victoria CEO, Scott Whiteman.
“We are very grateful for all of the help that the racing fraternity has offered Buchan over the past few weeks. We now ask that as many people as possible turn up at the races on 15 February to show their support at this fantastic community raceday.”
