Aspetar (FR) will be attempting to add to his international record when he lines up in the $5 million Group 1 Cox Plate at The Valley on Saturday.
The Roger Charlton-trained galloper will be running in Australia for the first time.
However, the French-bred gelding boasts a Group 1 win in Germany, a Group 2 win in France along with a Group 2 win on home soil in England. Aspetar also ran in Hong Kong last year which Charlton’s travelling foreman Ben James said showed the gelding can handle international travel.
And importantly Aspetar was given a look at The Valley last Saturday, taking in not only the track but the race day tie-up stalls and mounting yard.
