Sunset Dreaming Change of tactics. Connections advised it was their intention to attempt to ride the filly more forward. Settled behind the leaders.

Brain Fog Passing the 1000m shifted in abruptly before being straighten by its rider. Raced three wide without cover throughout.

Raymonds Reward Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Weakened from the 200m. Rider Dean Yendall reported the gelding raced greenly throughout, however could offer no other explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

 

Race 2 MAGIC MILLIONS BALLARAT 2YO CLASSIC - 1000 metres:

Heinous Shortly after the start was tightened for room between Dun Wondering and Macocha, which shifted out, and as a result of the tightening Heinous clipped the heels of Dun Wondering and knuckled.

Dun Wondering Rider Declan Bates reported the colt raced greenly throughout and appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Race 3 A GRADE SHEDS BM70 HANDICAP - 1100 metres:

Imapagethree Girl Trainer Henry Dwyer was fined $100 under LR63A(2)(b) for failing to declare Jaylah Kennedy as the rider for the mare by the prescribed time. 

Tillotson Fractious in barriers. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Rider Linda Meech reported the mare failed to handle the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Cavallo Rampante Slow to begin.

All About Eve Slow to begin. Rider John Allen could offer no explanation for the mares performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained lacerations to the left hind pastern. Trainer Andrew Noblet was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to the mare racing again. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Jenny Jerome Late scratching at 1.16pm due to the track downgrade.

Miss Baltimore Fractious in barriers. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Rider Dean Yendall reported he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to obtain the lead, however could offer no other explanation for the mares performance. A post-race endoscopic examination detected a throat condition that may have affected the mares racing performance. Trainer Matthew Williams was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to the mare racing again.

Glitzing Rider Michael Dee reported the mare failed to handle the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Race 5 GLOBAL TURF BM84 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

Harmysian Late scratching at 12.20pm due to the track downgrade.

Vardani Late scratching at 1.21pm due to the track downgrade.

Tycoon Bec Change of tactics. Connections advised it was their intention to attempt to ride the mare further back with cover. Settled in a handy position with cover.

Wisaka Slow to begin.

Irish Butterfly Began awkwardly.

Kettle Hill Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Excelleration Overraced in the early stages.

Alhambra Lad Near the 600m was tightened for room between Irish Butterfly and Mr French which, after being brushed on the hindquarters, shifted out.

Mr French Near the 300m, when weakening, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between Irish Butterfly and Excelleration both of which shifted ground.

 

Race 6 MOBILE HOSE SOLUTIONS MCKELLAR MILE BM78 - 1600 metres:

Podente Late scratching at 1.10pm due to the track downgrade.

Whakamana Slow to begin.

Fighting Arrow Slow to begin.

Torranzino Held up for a short distance approaching the 400m. Held up for a short distance approaching the 200m.

Captain Britain Near the 300m had to be steadied when tightened for room by Oceans Above (D Moor) which shifted out to improve. Rider Daniel Moor was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Rider Beau Mertens reported the gelding did not handle todays heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Divine Purpose Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Rider Dean Yendall was examined by RV Medical staff and was passed fit to fulfil future riding engagements without further medical treatment.

 

Race 7 MAGIC MILLIONS BALLARAT 3YO & 4YO CLASSIC - 1100 metres:

Philosopher Late scratching at 12.28pm due to the track downgrade.

Veecee Late scratching at 12.43pm due to the track downgrade.

Zabeelist Late scratching at 12.47pm due to the track downgrade.

Berry Bubbly Late scratching at 2.05pm due to the track downgrade.

Vagrant Began awkwardly.

Baroque Road Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m.

A Little Deep Approaching the 50m had to be steadied away from the heels of Baroque Road (J Mott) which shifted out. Rider Jamie Mott was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Spicy Margs Rider Beau Mertens reported the filly did not handle todays heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Foujita San Late scratching at 12.30pm due to the track downgrade.

Skelm Late scratching at 12.34pm due to the track downgrade.

Aintnodeeldun Late scratching at 1.19pm due to the track downgrade.

Midnight Blue Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival, due to the removal of concussion plates in front (3/4 plate in front applied), and was passed suitable to race.

Foxy Cleopatra Change of tactics. Connections advised it was their intention to attempt to ride the mare more forward. Slow to begin. Settled at the rear of the field. Weakened from the 400m. Rider Craig Williams reported the mare did not handle todays heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Red Sun Sensation When racing keenly near the 1600m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Regal Power (J Mott) which shifted in. Rider Jamie Mott was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Approaching the winning post became unbalanced after being bumped by Regal Power. Rider Jamie Kah reported the gelding was not suited by todays shifty track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Rider John Allen (Just Folk) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the careless riding being near the 200m J Allen failed to make sufficient make effort to prevent his mount from shifting out onto Young Werther which resulted in Young Werther being taken out off its course and hampered when tightened out onto Captain Envious. J Allen had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of 13 race meetings (5 metropolitan, 8 provincial), with the period to commence on Wednesday 20 December 2023 (at the expiration of a suspension incurred at Sandown 06/12/2023) and expire on Monday 01 January 2024. Accordingly, J Allen will be able to return to ride on Tuesday 02 January 2024. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, record and that the incident was in the mid-range. J Allen was advised of his rights to appeal.

 

Race 9 BALLARAT VOLKSWAGEN TONKS PLATE - 1100 metres:

Sebonack Late scratching at 12.30pm due to the track downgrade.

Rosalia Apprentice Tatum Bull was dislodged on arrival at the barriers and as a result, she was unable to fulfil her riding engagement due to an injury to her foot. Late scratching at 5pm on Stewards order.

Megamea Fractious in barriers getting its leg up on the barrier petition. Underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the near hindleg. Late scratching at 5.04pm on veterinary advice. Trainer Luke Oliver was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to the mare racing again.

Fasuto Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground (5L). Trainer Clinton McDonald was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings record for standing flat footed.

Tycoonist Eased down. Rider Declan Bates reported the gelding was not suited by the fast tempo of todays race and the heavy track conditions.

Lounge Bar Rubi Blundered prior to the 100m and then again passing the 50m. Rider Jordan Childs reported the gelding was not comfortable in the heavy track conditions and knuckled on a number of occasions. Stewards accepted J Childs comments.

Space Tracker Rider Michael Dee reported the gelding did not handle todays heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
