Affair To Remember heads Sandown Guineas market

Dan O’Sullivan’s Toronado filly Affair To Remember is the opening $3.80 favourite with TAB’s market for the $250,000, Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) at Sandown-Hillside on Saturday followed by Heart Of Puissance at $4.80 and Banquo at $5.00 in the field of 11.

Affair To Remember comes to the Guineas off a third place to Nudge in the Benchmark 70 over 1700m at Flemington last Saturday. Jye McNeil rides on Saturday with barrier five.

The Maher and Eustace trained Puissance De Lune colt Heart Of Puissance has started just twice with both resulting in wins, the last in a Benchmark 64 over 1600m at The Valley on November 1st. Mark Zahra rides with barrier seven.

The Danny O’Brien trained and Damien Oliver ridden Written Tycoon colt Banquo impressively won the listed Hilton Stakes over 1400m with a length in hand after stepping up from a win at Sale on October 27th. Craig Williams rides with barrier 11.

The Sandown Guineas is Race 7 at 4.00pm.

The Maher and Eustace trained stablemates Humidor (NZ) and Southern France (IRE) are the $3.60 joint favourites for the $300,000, Group 2 Zipping Classic (2400m).

Humidor, a seven-year-old Teofilo gelding, has yet to win this campaign and comes to the Classic off a ninth in Saturday’s Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes over 2000m. He was 5 1/2L from the winner Magic Wand (IRE). Damien Lane rides with barrier seven.

Southern France comes off a 19th in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup over 3200m on November 5th. Prior to that first race in Australia the Galileo five-year-old entire was third in the Group 1 Irish St Leger over 2816m at the Curragh on September 15th. Mark Zahra rides with barrier five.

The Zipping Classic has a field of 10 and is Race 8 at 4.40pm.

The ten race programme with 109 acceptances commences at 12.25pm with a field of 16 two-year-old’s in the $140,000, listed Merson Cooper Stakes (1000m).

The track is currently rated a Good 4 with the rail to be in the True position for the entire circuit.
