Winx plus 11 for Chelmsford Stakes

Winx has 11 opponents for the $250,000, Group 2 WFA Tattersall’s Club Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) in the feature of the Tattersall’s Club meeting at Randwick on Saturday, including five stablemates.

The champion mare, who will be at prohibitive odds for the race with essentially the rest of the field preparing for other assignments later in the spring, has barrier three to try and jump quickly from under Hugh Bowman.

The other Waller stable acceptances are Antonio Giuseppe (NZ) with Tye Angland and barrier 10, Libran (IRE) with Glyn Schofield and barrier eight, Life Less Ordinary (IRE) with Kerrin McEvoy and barrier 11, Sarrasin (GB) with Michael Walker and barrier four and Who Shot Thebarman (NZ) with Christian Reith and barrier one.

Kris Lees has Sense Of Occasion with Corey Brown and barrier two, Gerald Ryan has Red Excitement with Josh Parr and barrier five and Harper’s Choice and Brenton Avdulla and barrier six, while James Cummings has Allergic with Tom Clark and barrier 12.

The Stephen Marsh trained Chocante (NZ), the winner of the Group 2 Brisbane Cup over 2200m at Doomben back in June, has barrier nine.

The Victorian Oaks winner Lasqueti Spirit, trained by Lee Curtis, with Jay Ford and barrier seven completes the field.

Winx opened in the All In TAB.com.au market on Monday at $1.06 and market updates will be provided as they become available.

The Chelmsford Stakes is Race 7 at 3.50pm.

Eight three-year-old fillies have been accepted for the $200,000, Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) including the first three in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes over 1200m at Randwick on August 19th, Formality, Alizee and Champagne Cuddles.

Formality with Kerrin McEvoy has barrier six, Alizee with Hugh Bowman barrier one and Champagne Cuddles with Glyn Schofield barrier two.

The $150,000, Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m) has a field of six with Redzel top-weight with 60kg and barrier six. Spieth (NZ) has 57kg under Corey Brown and barrier three.

Happy Clapper and Mackintosh (NZ) share 57kg at the head of the 10 strong field for the $200,000, Group 2 Tattersall’s Club Tramway Stakes (1400m). Josh Parr with barrier two and Tim Clark with barrier 10 ride respectively.

The nine race programme with a total of 92 acceptances commences at 12.10pm with the ANZ Bloodstock News Bm 75 Handicap (1300m) and a field of eight three-year-old’s.

The track is currently rated a Good 4 after 4mm of irrigation for the last 24hrs and 10mm for the last seven days. The rail will be out 6m for the entire circuit.

Sydney’s weather this week continues to be fine. Thursday’s forecast is for a partly cloudy day with a slight (20%) chance of a shower and 17c, Friday is sunny and 18c and Saturday’s forecast is for a sunny day and 8c - 22c.
