New chairman for racehorse owners council

Following the recent Australian Racehorse Owners Council (ATROC) meeting conducted in Melbourne, Queensland delegate Grant Morgan was elected unopposed Chairman of ATROC.

The meeting included delegates from host state Victoria, together with racehorse owners' association representatives from New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.

Mr Morgan replaces outgoing Chairman Harvey Crossman who has stepped down from the role following his election to the Perth Racing Committee.

"Harvey has been a dedicated Chairman of ATROC since taking on the role in late February 2008, nearly three years ago," said Morgan.

"There have been numerous issues on which ATROC has taken a position during his tenure including the whips issue, the jockeys claim for 1% of winning prize money and equine influenza which he has handled with aplomb.

"I will be looking to further build the profile of owners and ATROC from the sound platform I have inherited.

"We are grateful to Harvey for his contribution to ATROC and pleased he will be continuing as the West Australian delegate to ATROC and we wish him well in his new role at Perth Racing," added Morgan.
