Placing Horse Jockey Comment
nd OCEAN PARK (NZ) Glen Boss He was outstanding. He walked out of the barriers and then from about the 1200 [metres] to the 1000 [metres] they really slowed up so I made the decision to come out and go forward and he was very, very good right to the line. The winner had the cosier run and that was the difference.
rd SILENT ACHIEVER (NZ) Hugh Bowman Great effort. Coming back to the 2000 metres. The others had her off the bit. At the 600 [metres] Ocean Park put six on me then I thought I had him cold in the straight but her run ended nearing the line. The long run told. She wasn’t disgraced, that’s for sure.
th AMBIDEXTER Mark Zahra He ran well. Probably wants a little bit more give in the ground and I think 2000 metres sees him out.
th STRIKE THE STARS (NZ) Blake Shinn Huge run. He did it tough the whole way then got shut out at the top of the straight. That cost him momentum but he picked himself up and kept finding the line.
th HOYLONNY Michael Rodd Really good. He’ll improve a lot for the [Australian] Derby coming off a few weeks from his last run and that will sharpen him up.
th SAID COM (NZ) Dwayne Dunn Got a great run in transit from [barrier] 18 but I’d probably question whether he stayed the trip at this point in time.
th ROCK ’N’ POP Jim Cassidy He might have gone over the top. He’s had a good campaign but I reckon he’s had enough.
th MERLIN MUSTANG Brenton Avdulla He ran super. He was outside the leader on a hot speed, the leader dropped away, he was going to run last at the point of the corner but dug deep and tried his guts out.
th DARCI BE GOOD (NZ) Peter Robl We had no luck from the gate.
th SABRAGE Damien Oliver He struggled the Sydney way.
th HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Luke Nolen It was an even effort.
th DOCTOR DOOM Rod Quinn A bit disappointing. No excuses today. He probably needs to come back a peg.
th GALAH Joshua Parr Doesn’t run the trip. He’s a miler.
th INDUNA Christian Reith He’ll benefit from the run. He’s a mile and a half horse.
th SANGSTER (NZ) Danny Nikolic I thought he was average. His work suggested he’d come on and improved but he was the first horse beat.
th BIG TIME Corey Brown He’s going awful.
Last PROLIFERATE Michael Walker He ran a slasher first-up then had his next two runs on wet tracks and he might just need to go out and start again.
