Pierro back in work for Doncaster tilt
13 Dec 2012 |

Pierro has returned to light work this week at Randwick with the Doncaster Mile during the 2013 Sydney Carnival firmly on the agenda for the three-year-old colt this autumn.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt was last seen at the races when third in the Group 1 WFA Cox Plate over 2040m at Moonee Valley on October 27th behind Ocean Park (NZ) and fellow three-year-old All Too Hard .

Early indications at present suggest the son of Lonhro will be aimed at races at 1600m such as the Group 1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick on April 20.

Only one horse has won the Doncaster Mile the season after winning a Golden Slipper, that being Tontonan who claimed the Golden Slipper and Doncaster Mile in 1973 and 1974 respectively.
