Randwick trainer Anthony Cummings has decided to run his exciting filly She’s A Fox in the $100,000, listed The Rosebud (1200m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
Cummings had duel nominated the filly, a full-sister to freshman sire Foxwedge, in both The Rosebud and the other programme feature, the $125,000, Group 3, WFA McGrath Missile Stakes (1200m) against the older horses.
“She will run against her own age group in The Rosebud,” said Cummings on Sky Sports Radio.
Cummings said that he thought that She’s A Fox was also better weighted in The Rosebud and with Group 2 winner Jade Marauder not taking her place in the field the weights were raised to give the filly 56.0kg in a small field of six.
Hugh Bowman is likely to ride She’s A Fox as long as his weight allows him to make the weight after his recent holiday, otherwise Peter Robl will ride as he did in her win at Warwick Farm over 1100m on July 28th when Bowman was away.
“It was a very exciting win and if she goes on and reproduces that, which I expect she will, she will be pretty hard to beat,” he said.
“Given that we get the result we are after on Saturday she will go to the Silver Shadow, and from there we have some decisions to make if we stay with the fillies programme and go to the Furious and the Tea Rose and Flight Stakes, and that depends on her showing she can run the trip as she has quite a sharp pedigree.
“If that looks sensible we will go that way or we have the Golden Rose sitting there with a million dollars in the middle of all that which would be three weeks after the Silver Shadow. That programme suits equally as well and still gives her a chance to go three weeks into the Flight Stakes, once again if she shows that potential at the trip.
“We are all still learning about what her best distance might be so we will see how it goes,” he said.
The Victorian visitor Pronto Pronto is top-weight in the field with 58kg while She’s A Fox’s fellow Warwick Farm winner from July 28th Urquidez takes his place with 55kg.
The $125,000, Group 3, Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) is at Warwick Farm on Warwick Stakes Day, August 28th.
The Rosebud, Race Three at 1.50pm on Saturday, is one of the lead-up races for the $1m, Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 14th.
The Missile Stakes, Race 6 at 3.35pm, has a field of eight with only three, Adnocon, Welkon Gold and Stellar Academy. not resuming from spells. The field includes Pinwheel, Title and Centennial Park.
The track is currently rated as a Good 3 with the rail out 4m from the 1000m to the winning post and 2m for the remainder of the track. Sydney’s weather forecast is for isolated showers on Friday and Saturday with maximum temperatures of 17c for both days.
