O'Hara suspended at Hawkesbury
22 Jul 2012 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk Sydney jockey Kathy O'Hara was suspended at Hawkesbury on Sunday from next Sunday through to August 10th.
O’Hara, rider of Jive Talk in the Pepe's Duck Pty Ltd Maiden Handicap (1600m), pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 1000m she permitted her mount to shift in when not clear of Absolutelyanything, which lost its rightful running and had to be checked.
O’Hara’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 29 July 2012 and to expire on Friday, 10 August 2012, on which day she may ride. In the incident Absolutelyanything shifted out abruptly across the heels of Jive Talk and, in doing so, hampered Lay Down The Law, which was taken wider.
The race was won by Absolutelyanything, Christian Reith, from Shadows Of Venus, apprentice Matthew McGuren and Beachtaat (NZ) and Grant Buckley. O'Hara and Jive Talk were fourth.
The suspension finishes the day before the ATC's Missile Stakes Day at Warwick Farm on August 11th.
