Waller closing in on premiership double
17 Jul 2012 | Racingandsports.com.au Chris Waller has all but wrapped up the Sydney-NSW trainers' premiership double after notching 10 winners this month.

The Rosehill trainer has spent all year atop the metropolitan standings, in the box seat to defend the title he won last year, but it's taken all season to bump Gai Waterhouse from top spot in the NSW race.

Waller was two-and-a-half wins behind Waterhouse heading into July, the final month of the racing calendar, but has burst clear with 10 wins to her three.

And he has no intention of taking his foot off the accelerator with 11 horses nominated to run at Gosford on Wednesday and even more likely to line up at Rosehill this weekend.

Waterhouse has been out of the country all month for her daughter's wedding.
