Suspension ends Schofield's season
25 Jul 2012 | Racingandsports.com.au Chad Schofield will start the defence of his Sydney apprentices' premiership on the sidelines after being suspended at Wyong.
Schofield, who is set to claim his first Sydney apprentices' title, was outed for five meetings for careless riding at the Australian Turf Club meeting on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old notched his 37th metropolitan winner for the season when partnering Number One Gun to victory but later pleaded guilty to shifting in at the 100m mark of the Peter Goulding Memorial (1600m) aboard Tabliope, causing interference to another runner.
Schofield's ban starts after Saturday's Warwick Farm meeting and he will miss the final metropolitan fixture of the season at Kembla Grange next Tuesday. He can return to the saddle on August 9.
Schofield is 12 wins ahead of nearest rival Sam Clipperton in the apprentices' premiership.
