Australian Turf Club General Manager Racecourses, Lindsay Murphy has won the coveted Curator of the Year Award for 2012.
The award was presented on the final day of the annual Australian Racecourse Managers Association Conference, which was held this week in Perth.
This is the second time Murphy, who has served Sydney racing for 40 years, has won the award. He was selected ahead of 80 racecourse managers from across Australia.
“The award is voted on by stewards from around the country, so it’s an absolute delight to win,” Murphy explained.
“From a racecourse managers’ point of view, the award is the top of the tree.
“Even though my name is on the prize, it is really a credit to the team at ATC, particularly the managers of each of the four racecourses in Sydney. I will be sharing this honour with them.”
ATC CEO Darren Pearce also conveyed the significance of Lindsay Murphy’s achievement.
“The Club congratulates Lindsay and his team on being acknowledged with this prestigious award,” Mr Pearce said.
“Although we are thrilled with the announcement, there is no resting on our laurels. We have a big job in front of us and the team remains focussed on continuous improvements to all four venues.”
