RNSW stewards issue warning on Aminocaproic Acid use 17 Aug 2009
ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk

Racing NSW chief steward Ray Murrihy on Monday issued a warning to trainer and others in the racing industry that they are warned that aminocaproic acid is a prohibited substance and as such is screened for in race day samples.

Industry participants are also warned that there are currently no registered veterinary or human pharmaceuticals available in Australia that contain aminocaproic acid and therefore it has no legitimate place in racing in NSW.

The presence in a racing stable of any product containing aminocaproic acid would
be an offence under the provisions of AR80E and the presence of aminocaproic
acid in a swab sample would be deemed to be a prohibited substance under the
rules of racing.

If any trainer has any query as to whether a product contains aminocaproic acid
he/she should contact Racing NSW Senior Official Veterinarian Dr C Suann.
