South Australian jockey suspended for not riding mount out 26 Apr 2006
TRSA

TRSA stewards have suspended jockey D. Tourneur for not riding his mount Exalted Madam out.

The stewards report from Cheltenham Park Monday 01 April 2006 on Race 3 – Super Sunday May 7 handicap – 1316 metres is as follows:

Stewards concluded an inquiry into jockey D. Tourneur’s riding of EXALTED MADAM in the straight.

Evidence at this hearing was considered, together with evidence taken at the previous hearing on Saturday 01 April 2006.

After considering this evidence D. Tourneur was found guilty of a charge under ARR. 135.(b) in that whilst riding EXALTED MADAM he had failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures in that his riding represented a dramatic and blatant departure from the manner in which he rode the mare on the 3rd December 2005 at Cheltenham in Race 6, specifically in relation to his failure to use the whip on the mare at any stage in the straight on Saturday 01 April 2006 when it was reasonable and permissible for him to do so.

D. Tourneur’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) race dates, commencing at midnight on Wednesday 03 May 2006 to expire at midnight on Sunday 21 May 2006.
