RACE 1

Equience (10) is still yet to get off the mark in 21 starts but his latest runs suggest he may be close to breaking the duck. The step-up to the mile at his last two runs yielded two placings. Take on trust but his winning turn may have arrived. Give Saywinner (11) another chance as he reverts to turf. Did not act on Polytrack when drawn wide last time out. Drawn better this time. Wonderful Approach (3) made some headway at his last outing. Drawn awkwardly. Place chance. Radar O’Reilly (7) is backing up from last Sunday when he was a big disappointment. Ran a close fifth to April’s Knight at his previous start. Can redeem himself.

RACE 2

After two promising starts, Silveron Wings (9) looks due for an early win. Inside alley is a bonus. Zafonic Star (13) scored a barrier trial win on July 15 and looks to have some potential. Bears watching. Zac Influence (12) did not trial too badly at his two attempts, running second twice. Looks fit and ready and can give a good account of himself at debut. Listen Up (4) is a likely improver with that first run under the belt. Keep safe.

RACE 3

Happy More (1) saw his good run come to an end last time out when he was slow to begin and got bumped into a couple of times. Drawn wide but if he gets a nice posie, he should be dangerous again. John Of Arch (4) has played second fiddle three times in a row. Distance suits. Will be in this for a long way. Gallant Force (3) has been thereabouts of late and deserves plenty of respect. King Of Sheba (9) finally opened his accounts in a Class 5 race over 1900m at his last run. He goes up in class and may find this tougher. Place claims.

RACE 4

A nice mix of up-and-comers line up here. Tolmon Nika’s (2) maiden win with new Sydney champion jockey Nash Rawiller up had the hallmark of a future handy sort. The drop in distance should not pose any problem. Debut winner Catch Me Now (3) will again get the run of the race from his barrier No 1. Faces stronger company, though. Smitten Kitten (6) has improved by leaps and bounds and would not surprise if he is in the firing line here. Will be thereabouts. Volkov (4) had every chance last time out but plodded for third. Include in your multiples.

RACE 5

Plenty of chances to the fore. My Friend Jo (8) ran on strongly for third at his last start. The Long Course will be to his advantage. Urban Dancer (9) seems to have trained on since his fast-finishing debut second to Catch Me Now two weeks ago. Big say. Thanksgiving (3) ran second first-up and will loom up in the home straight. Walla Walla (5) failed to put in a blow at his last run after running a pleasing second to Black Jack a race earlier. Wide draw is a concern.

RACE 6

An interesting contest where at least four runners stand a good winning chance. On the strength of his two wins from two, Flying West (3) may well continue on the same trend, especially as he jumps from marble one. Best Knight (4) made it all in impressive fashion at his last run over 1400m. Drops back in distance and should run just as well. This is a shade harder for last-start winner Grecian Choice (6) but he should still be in with a chance, especially over the Long Course. Pacino (7) will run his honest race and can finish on board.

RACE 7

Small but quality field in this year’s Chairman’s Trophy. Laurie Laxon’s pair of Waikato (1) and Intercept (4) seem to hold the aces. Waikato showed he was back to his brilliant best following a convincing win in the Group 3 Saas Fee Stakes (1400m) last time out. The 1800m is right up his alley these days. Intercept made it tough at both ends at his last run in the Derby, plugging on well for third. He jumps from a better gate this time and is right in the mix for this. Last year’s winner Any Humour (3) will appreciate the step-up in distance and if his last workouts are anything to go by, he is approaching his best form. Superb (6) is the new course holder after upstaging a classy field in the Yew Tee Classic Stakes. WFA conditions will suit even better. Commands respect.

RACE 8

Stanzout (3) finished like a mail train over 1400m last time out to beat all but the winner. Will be hard to hold out in the home straight. Cristoforo (4) will relish the step-up to a distance that suits him better. Solid Wood (10) is not without ability and was even a non-starting EA in the Derby. Can measure up to this lot. Top three finish. The Dancer (8) ran on fairly last time out. First test over 1800m. Should be able to stay.

RACE 9

Smart galloper Good Feel (1) makes his racing comeback after he bled at his last start back in April. Looks in fine order on the training track. Goes well fresh and can win first-up. Always Certain (8) is also resuming since his brave second to Better Than Ever in the Singapore Guineas last May. Carries light load and can surprise the big guns. Lim’s Fighter (2) is enjoying a new lease of life, albeit without winning. Should figure prominently again. Arjuna (9) is facing a big jump in class but with his light weight he can sneak into the minors.

RACE 10

The last race looks a fairly open affair. Den (7) ran a cracking fourth first-up after nearly a year off. Will be in the hunt for a long way. Mr Raffles (2) came with big wraps and lived up to them at debut with a creditable third to Eclair Fastpass. Expected to strip fitter for this. Shaolin Soldier (3) did what he could against Eclair Fastpass in another Progress race won by the smart four-year-old last time out and will find this a lot easier. Jewel Princess (9) sprang a surprise at her last win and would not surprise if she reproduces that form here.
