Fastnet Rock represented at NZB South Island Sale 29 Jul 2010
New Zealand Bloodstock Ltd

Ranganui Farm is set to offer a colt by leading Australian second season sire Fastnet Rock at the upcoming New Zealand Bloodstock South Island Sale of 2YOs & Mixed Bloodstock.

Set to start at 10am at the Canterbury Agricultural Park on Friday 6 August, the colt will be offered at Lot 173 and is the first foal of the Stravinsky mare Moonstrummer. One of a few lots that have already been broken in, he is one of the nine-strong draft from the Amberley-based operation.

Part owner of the colt, Sam Williams commented on his decision to head South "I always try and target the South Island Sale with a nice colt. He's a strong, correct type and would sell well at the Ready to Run Sale but he will stand out more down there."

"Besides, the All Blacks versus Wallabies test is on in Christchurch so I thought I'd make a weekend of it."

An Australian champion 3YO and champion sprinter, Fastnet Rock now stands at Coolmore Australia with his service fee for the upcoming season set at A$137,500. The speedy son of Danehill was Group 1 placed at two and won the Group 1 Lightning Stakes and Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at three.

With just two crops on the track Fastnet Rock has already sired three Group 1 winners including VRC Newmarket Handicap winner Wanted, MRC One Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights and VRC Australian Guineas winner Rock Classic.

Williams is has sent two other horses from his Masterton-based Little Avondale Stud south for the sale with Lot 169 by their resident sire Towkay and a colt by Danske at Lot 130.

Ranganui Farm's draft also includes Lot 60, a correct Keeper gelding from the winning half-sister to Justine Coup, Windlass. By Cape Cross, this is the family of Australasian Oaks winner Royal Regatta (Sea Anchor).

New Zealand Bloodstock's Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale is set for Sunday 1 August from 11am to be followed by the South Island Sale of 2YOs & Mixed Bloodstock on Friday 6 August. Contact reception@nzb.co.nz to request catalogues.
