Woodville Tuesday trackwork 03 Oct 2006
By Stewart McGrail

Stablemates Gracious and Lightning Lass appreciated the soft conditions in training at Woodville this morning, where galloping was on the outside of the course proper.

Gracious (Thomson) completed 1400m in 1:33.1, the 1000m in 1:07.2 and the last 600m in 40. Her disappointments at Gisborne could best be forgotten as she is more adept on soft or heavy surfaces.

Lightning Lass (Thomson) ran her 1400m in 1:35.2, the 1000m in 1:06.7 and the last 600m in 39.2. Both she and Gracious are in the R83 2100m at their home track meeting on Thursday.

Plimsoll (Williams), who resumes in the maiden 1400m on Thursday, slowed towards the end of 1200m in 1:20, the last 600m in 39.3. She can only benefit from her race.

Charleston (N Wiki), the fourth of the Stephen Marsh stable's runners for Thursday, was not pressed over 800m in 56, the last 600m in 39.2. She is in the R72 1400m.

Callaghan (Roughan) returned one of the best times of the morning over 1000m in 1:05.3 and the last 600m in 37.1. He accompanies stablemate and Cup contender Samurai to Matamata on Saturday.

Stark Breeze (Alexander) warmed into his work before sprinting 600m in 38.7, while hurdles runner Giani (Gomez) was given a similar workout.

The Woodville centre is well represented in the hurdles, with Giani a good third recently at Awapuni, while Guise (Albert), who makes his debut on Thursday, was fluent over six flights. Fire Jacket (Thomson) also jumped six fences.

Our Marciano (Williams) ran an even 1000m in 1:06.7, the last 600m in 38.3, and Trevor Patrick (Johnson) recorded 54.4 for 800m, the final 600m in 39.1. Alanon (Johnson) took 55.2 for her 800m, the last 600m in 41.6.

Marty Boy (Williams) was his usual self over 1000m in 1:05.3, the last 600m in 38.1. He is back at Hastings on Saturday after a nose defeat there on Stoney Bridge day.

Chettak (N Wiki) and He Kin Danske (Thomson) impressed in their 1200m in 1:23.6, the last 600m in 38.6. He Kin Danske was an unlucky runner on Stoney Bridge day, while Chettak showed he was close to peak fitness.

Sizzle (Van Tyl) and Man On A Mission (Clapperton) completed their 1200m in 1:21.4, the last 600m in 39.8.

Other gallops were: Bay Lustre (Bremmer) and Mr Mor (H Wiki) 600m in 39.1: Light Sand Action (Thomson) 600m in 40.3: Babes In Boxers (H Wiki) and an Oregon filly (Morris) 600m in 40.6; Just Get In Line (N Wiki) and a Riviera filly (Bremmer) 500m in 31.3: Waipiro Bay (H Wiki) 1000m in 1:10.7 and 40.2: Dionysus (W Taylor) and a Centaine mare (E Taylor) 800m in 53.8 and 39.4: Metrop (Roughan) 600m in 42.2: Golden Opportunity (Thomson) 600m in 46.1; and On Demand (Van Tyl) 600m in 41.3.
