Toowoomba trainers appear at QRIC Inquiry

Toowoomba Trainers Ben Currie and Mark Currie on Friday appeared at a Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards’ Inquiry at the Commission’s Brisbane headquarters at Kingsford Smith Drive, Albion.

Chief Thoroughbred Stipendiary Steward Allan Reardon chaired the hearing as part of the QRIC’s ongoing investigation into possible breaches of the rules of racing concerning race day treatment of a number of horses at Ben Currie’s Toowoomba stables.

QRIC Commissioner Ross Barnett said at the conclusion of today’s proceedings that no charges have been laid against either of the men at this stage.

“The inquiry has been adjourned to a date to be fixed as the investigation continues,” he said.

“No further comment about the evidence taken at today’s hearing will be made at this time.”
