Race analysis and race selections for Sunday's racing at Kranji

RACE 1

CRACKING TOTTIE (2) – Knocking on the door. It’s a daunting task to make such a big leap from 1400m to 1800m, but on breeding, the 1800m will pose no problem. She will be thereabouts at the business end.

KATE’S KEEPER (1) – Getting on in years, but he may find this easier. Good barrier and the Matthew Poon factor are two other plus points.

ALWRICH (5) – Made significant headway at his third outing. Trip will suit. First place cheque on the cards.

DANGER ZONE (8) – Old stager who has been aimed at Polytrack races more often these days. No slouch over turf either. Last-start winner who bears watching.

RACE 2

SATELLITE KINGDOM (4) – Put in a strong run last time out to finish off well for third and a trial win has since put him in here with a big chance.

ELENA OF AVALOR (5) – Ahead of the selection last time and can confirm places on these terms, but she has had ample opportunity to win one and can once again go well on her preferred surface.

CROUCHING SUN (1) – Last on debut at Pakenham in February. Has now joined Lee Freedman and won his trial last month (punched out to do so). As this race isn’t strong, he can make his presence felt.

PENNSYLVANIA (2) – Now with Cliff Brown and has been seen a little since being here in Singapore to suggest he can make the frame.

RACE 3

LADRONE (1) – Was badgered at the front end by the first two home at the end of last month in a better type of Class 4 Non Premier. A soft lead would be ideal to him and given that, he can capitalise on a weak field.

PAPERBACK TROOPER (4) – Rather disappointing overall since beating the useful Sir Isaac at his debut in July 2016. Needs to regain form and has joined trainer Daniel Meagher in the hope of doing so.

RED SYMPHONY (2) – Has bits and pieces of form on the all-weather. This isn’t a deep race form-wise and could well be a chance.

PHIDIAS (10) – His run two back was good and a repeat of that gives him an each-way shout.

RACE 4

CROWN DELIGHT (11) – From in-form yard. Shorter trip doesn’t help his cause but if pace is genuine, he won’t be without a say inside concluding stages. Blinkers on and will get an economical run from inside gate.

YELLOW JADE HORSE (10) – Still has not dropped maiden tag but from the way he flashed home at his last start, he should not be overlooked from the calculations from now on. Could have used a longer trip but he can still get there on time.

BRING ME JOY (1) – Was in this for a long way last time out until old marvel Cool Cat grabbed him on the line. Goes over the same trip and has drawn beautifully in two. Hard to catch if he has his way in front again.

WEST NORTH HILL (7) – Has not been finishing far off lately, but probably needs more distance. Can still pinch a place here.

RACE 5

GRAND CROSS (1) – Will find this a lot easier, especially as he reverts to his preferred turf surface. Blinkers off and jumps from a nice barrier. In the firing line.

DUTROW (7) – In flying form at the moment. Up against a stronger lot but he should be able to hold his own. Low draw. Stick with him.

DINGHU MOUNTAIN (2) – Slightly disappointing in the KRA Trophy. Can do better than that. Chances enhanced if track takes a soaking.

MARINE TREASURE (8) – Frontrunner who may have to be used up to find the lead from the awkward alley. But if he does without spending too much petrol, he will give some sight even if his better races have been on Polytrack.

RACE 6

GOLD REWARD (4) – Racing well at present for a stable who is having plenty of winners in their yellow and red colours. Has a good barrier and conditions are fine. Big player.

LARRY (9) – (Australian racing pundit) Foley’s namesake has shown enough in maiden company to play a part in this and his trackwork was good in the week.

NORTHERN KNIGHT (1) – Now back into a Kranji Stakes D here and that is a positive. From a wide draw they might take him back and he can finish off well, something he has shown in the past.

RICH BEAUTY (2) – His good effort in March behind Mr Dujardin gives this mare a strong each-way chance with a good claimer booked.

RACE 7

GOLD CROWN (1) – Might well be the one to side with now that he is back in Class 4 company and finds a winnable race here.

BEAUTIFUL DAY (11) – Still a maiden but has some okay form and his second to Lord O’Reilly would be the pick of it.

ELISE (3) – In respectable form at the moment and is one to include for multiples.

SAVAGE STORM (2) – Another back in grade and should go well here with the bonus of a 1kg claim.

RACE 8

NOAH FROM GOA (1) – A real class act, having won a Group 1 race in South Africa and placed on more than one occasion at the Dubai World Cup Carnival. He has won a trial since his local debut and now Ricardo Le Grange removes the headgear. Big player.

SECRET WIN (4) – Last year’s El Dorado Classic winner caused a bit of a shock when scoring over 1200m last time out. This trip is right up his street and he will be finishing off powerfully.

CHAIRMAN (6) – Second to Secret Win in last year’s El Dorado Classic (from stall 16) and looks nicely in at the weights here to make an impact.

MAKANANI (8) – Bolted up on Singapore Derby day in a Class 3 over the mile. A little bit more required here, but it is worth following a mare in form.

RACE 9

MR CLINT (3) – Has been coming under a steady prep in readiness for his comeback in this race. Did not impress in his barrier trial last week but he is not as sharp inside runners. Therefore, outermost alley won’t be such a blow to his winning chances.

CIRCUIT LAND (4) – Resuming after a run that fell short of expectations in the Kranji Mile in May. Has come back in sparkling form as could be seen at his gutsy barrier trial win last week. Can go well fresh. First link-up with Vlad Duric is a pointer to his chances.

MAJESTIC MOMENTS (9) – Never underestimate this genuine Group performer. Seems to have taken a new lease of life. Trialled well last week. Will be in the mix when the whips are cracking.

CLARTON SUPER (5) – Classy sort who will relish this kind of race for a comeback. Nicely weighted. Only setback was the missed gallop on Saturday. He might be short of one run, but is smart enough to still vie for the minors.

RACE 10

BASILISK (4) – In-and-out sort but on his last start when he was seen attacking the line late for third place to Masurao, he can bounce back to his best here. Lovely alley will give him a nice cosy run in transit.

PLATO (5) – Had every chance at his last run. Did not really quicken up inside the last furlong. Will have to lift to win this, but the field is not overly strong, and he might just sneak in again.

O’REILLY’S DANCER (1) – Flew home late when shades off last time out. Drops back to mile. Outside chance.

KRANJI GOLD (3) – Opened his account at last run when stepped up to the mile. This is tougher but he can still measure up. Will be running
