Oliver to restore 'Order' at Flemington

Champion jockey Damien Oliver will not ride at the rich Gold Coast meeting on Saturday, instead he will head to Flemington where he has a strong book of rides.

Despite not having a mount in the day’s feature, the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m), Oliver will partner a number of well-supported and progressive gallopers.

One of those is the Danny O’Brien-trained Order Of Command, who is currently the $2.45 favourite for the 1100m Paddock Bar Plate (Race 7) with BetEasy.

“I think Order Of Command is one of my better rides and hopefully he can continue on his winning way,” Oliver told Racing.com.

“He’s got great straight track form (winning his last two), he steps up a little bit in class on Saturday but he’s on the minimum weight.

“I think his acceleration is key, even at 1000m (last start) which is probably a trip that was a bit short for him he was still able to get out of trouble and get over the line.

“I think the extra 100m metres will certainly help him tomorrow.

“He should run really well again because he’s a really consistent horse and he doesn’t really put in a bad one.”

The step up in distance is also likely to suit another exciting prospect according to Oliver, O’tauto from the Greg Eurell stable is out to  1400m after an eye-catching first-up run down the straight three weeks ago.

“I think the 1400m is a plus for O’tauto, he is out a little bit in distance but against that he’s got a big weight.

“He seems like a horse that’s only going to get better as he gets over further and that will really help him.”

The lightly raced O’tauto is currently the $2.75 favourite for the fourth race on the Flemington card, the Furlong Bar Handicap.
