Supplementary Reports:

CANTERBURY PARK – Friday 30 November 2018

Race 7:  Kia Evening Star 1100m

Sugar Bay Leonard– when questioned regarding settling further back in the field, App. B Griffiths explained that he was under no specific instructions as to where to have the gelding settle in the run, however, he was of the view that he would attempt to have his mount settle where comfortable in a midfield position.  He said that shortly after the start he was reluctant to place his mount under any pressure as he felt he would be caught racing wide without cover and therefore elected to restrain and attempt to find cover midfield, but due to being caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to restrain further back than he had anticipated, ultimately settling at the rear of the field.  He added that his mount was under pressure as far out as the 600m and responded only fairly to his riding.
