Lees looking forward to another big weekend

Kris Lees, who prepared four metro winners last weekend in Sydney and Brisbane, will also have his eye on some notable runners at Flemington in Melbourne.

With 126 winners already on the board this season, Lees is on track to better his own record of 192 wins established last season.

At Randwick Hugh Bowman will be a new rider for the G1 winner El Dorado Dreaming, who joins boom stablemate Miss Fabulass (Kerrin McEvoy) in the G2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m).

Lees is yet to decide which race Invincible Gem will contest at Randwick, having entered the classy mare for the G3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) and G3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) against her own sex.

She has 55kg in the Southern Cross but a sterner 58kg in the Triscay Stakes.

Princess Posh (56.5kg) will begin her new campaign in the Triscay while triple G1 winner Le Romain is an entry for the G2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) – Winx’s return assignment – but merely as a precaution.

Lees is almost certainly to give Le Romain his next start in the $500,000 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday week.

At Flemington Lees will start both Graff (Tommy Berry) and In Her Time (Corey Brown) in the $750,000 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m).

“Both horses are in great order,” Lees said.

“Graff gained some experience of the Flemington straight in a jumpout last Friday morning.”
