RACE 1: Congratulations Karen and Nick Class 1 Handicap 1200m:

Show Me The Honey – slow to begin. Trainer Mr J. Pride, represented by Ms H. Devlin, was fined $100 under LR35(2) for failing to declare R. Hutchings as the rider of the gelding by the prescribed time.

Monsieur Macron – rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight was inclined to lay in. Approaching the 100m hung out badly despite the efforts of its rider and ran towards the outside fence. As a consequence, Monsieur Macron could not be fully tested thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr M. Conners was advised that the horse would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

Bridgetta Rose – slow to begin.

Juaphikoa – when placed under pressure over the final 300m was inclined to lay out.

RACE 2: Peabody Metropolitan Maiden Handicap 1200m:

Oakfield Jet – slow to begin. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, the Stewards identified from the inquiry room that rider G. Buckley had struck his mount on nine occasions prior to the 100m. When Stewards could not be satisfied that Oakfield Jet had gained an advantage that resulted in it winning the race, in accordance with AR168(2) they therefore declined to exercise their powers under AR137A(9) and did not proceed with a formal objection. At a subsequent inquiry, G. Buckley pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) of using the whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m. G. Buckley was fined the sum of $200. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account G. Buckley's unblemished record.

Shapur - over the final 75 metres, hung in and could not be tested.

Aim To Win – leaving the 800m commenced to race keenly when being restrained in an attempt to obtain a position behind Shapur. As a result Nivelle, which was trailing Aim To Win, had to be shifted out away from the heels of that runner. Nivelle then raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the race.

Constellations – began awkwardly and made contact with Rosadiblu. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which was having its first race start, did not reveal any abnormalities.

Nivelle – dislodged rider J. Penza en route to the barriers and then galloped a short distance riderless before being recaptured. J. Penza suffered no apparent injury in the incident. Nivelle underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers and was deemed suitable to race.

Philanthropist – Trainer Ms G. Markwell was advised that an official warning would be recorded against the barrier manners of the gelding, which proved difficult to load. Shortly after the start, ran in abruptly and away from Aim To Win resulting in its rider C. Lever becoming badly unbalanced.

Rosadiblu – Stewards permitted J. Adams to replace C. Reith (overweight) as the rider of the filly. C. Reith was fined $150 under AR120(b). Rosadiblu was held up rounding the home turn.

RACE 3: Illawarra Toyota Fleet Specialists Benchmark 64 Handicap 1600m:

Resort – App. R. Dolan reported that, in his opinion, the gelding did not appreciate today's heavy track condition.

Griddlebone – J. Grisedale reported that, in his opinion, the gelding did not appreciate today's heavy track condition.

Leave Ya Numba – rider S. Guymer accidentally dropped his whip passing the 250m.

RACE 4: CBC Facilities Maintenance Class 2 Handicap 1500m:

Weekend Affair – laid in making the first turn near the 1100m resulting in Parnossos being briefly tightened. Raced keenly in the middle stages.

Thor's Thunder – laid out when placed under pressure in the straight and, approaching the 100m, rider J. Adams had to change the whip to his left hand.

Zabeel's Choice – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, R. Hutchings stated that his mount travelled well throughout the race, however, when placed under pressure on straightening then raced on the wrong leg and hung in. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 5: Bruce Tener Memorial By Balgownie Travel 3YO Maiden Handicap 1300m:

Bring It Back – shortly after the start was steadied and shifted in behind runners from its wide barrier. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was having its first race start, did not reveal any abnormalities.

Prince George – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be tying up. Stable representative Mr W. Freedman undertook to report back to Stewards regarding the immediate racing plans for Prince George.

Romani Girl – after being slow to begin, made contact with the hindquarter of Mimi.

Repute – after being loaded into the barriers, became fractious, reared and got its near foreleg briefly cast over the barrier partition. The filly was removed from the barrier, examined by the club's veterinary officer and deemed unsuitable to race. As such, Repute was declared a late withdrawal at 3.52 p.m. acting on veterinary advice. Stewards subsequently ordered that all moneys placed on Repute be refunded in full and, with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers made prior to 3.52 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket:

1st - Romani Girl less 7 cents win, 8 cents place;

2nd - Heavenly Thunder less 9 cents place;

3rd - No third dividend.

Co-trainer Mr E. Cummings was advised that Repute would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

RACE 6: Kids Fund Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1000m:

Choice Chance – approaching the 200m Choice Chance, which was commencing to weaken, had to be eased to avoid the heels of Ariege, which was taken out by Carnina (App. R. Dolan).

Accoy – crowded on jumping between Handspun and Ariege, which shifted out.

Ariege – shortly after the start was steadied and shifted in behind runners. Raced keenly in the early stages and passing the 800m was awkwardly placed inside the heels of Korrawi. Near the 250m, when endeavouring to shift out from behind Carnina, made contact with Choice Chance. After obtaining a position to the outside of Carnina, Ariege was carried wider by that runner, which laid out under pressure. Near the 50m had to be eased when tightened for room by Carnina (App. R. Dolan) and Accoy (K. O'Hara), both of which shifted ground. App. Dolan and K. O'Hara were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Carnina – laid out when placed under pressure over the final 250 metres and, approaching the 150m, App. R. Dolan had to change the whip to his left hand.

Catia – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Handspun – raced wide and without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Korrawi – near the 100m proved reluctant to proceed through a narrow run between Lonny Lonny and Rose Of Savannah.

RACE 7: Macey Insurance Brokers Benchmark 64 Handicap 1400m:

Delfuego – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Doctor Manhattan – near the 600m had to be steadied off the heels of Ready Set Sing.

Midnight Ride – shortly after the start had to be eased when briefly crowded between Man Of Colours and Doctor Manhattan. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Raced wide and without cover throughout.

Cuban Royale – slow to begin.

High Tranquility – began awkwardly. Proved reluctant to shift to the outside of Saint Katarina in an endeavour to obtain clear running in the early part of the straight. When questioned, K. Jennings stated that whilst his mount appeared to travel well on today's heavy track, when placed under pressure shortly after straightening it failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it finished its race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Nagging – shortly after the start was crowded between Doctor Manhattan and Iona Nicconi, which shifted out. Approaching the 1200m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Ready Set Sing (J. Penza), which shifted in. J. Penza was advised to exercise more care. Nagging raced keenly thereafter.

Saint Katarina – laid out under pressure in the straight.

Iona Nicconi – raced keenly in the middle stages and, after being crossed by Saint Katarina near the 1100m, shifted out to avoid its heels. Iona Nicconi continued to race keenly thereafter. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the mare, G. Buckley stated that his mount travelled well throughout the race, however, when placed under pressure on straightening Iona Nicconi failed to let down on the heavy track conditions. He added that when positioned between High Tranquility and Delfuego near the 200m, Iona Nicconi resented racing in restricted room and was reluctant to hold its position. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 8: The Disability Trust Maiden Plate 1400m:

Timeless Melody – after being slow to begin was hampered by Merican, which began awkwardly.

Blitz 'n' Magic – slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover throughout.

Snippetsline – made contact with its nearside barrier partition as the start was effected and lost ground. Approaching the 1000m, when racing keenly, had to be checked off the heels of Recording To Win. Merican, which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. Shortly after straightening, Snippetsline had to be shifted to the outside of the weakening Blitz 'n' Magic to continue into clear running.

Kiss The Bride – As J. Adams was dually engaged on the second emergency Bulwark, which gained a start, Stewards permitted R. Hutchings to replace him as the rider of Kiss The Bride. When questioned, R. Hutchings stated that he was not issued with any specific instructions on where to have the colt positioned, however, it was his intention to ride Kiss The Bride in about a midfield position. He said that after his mount began well from its wide barrier he looked to ascertain if there was an opportunity to take advantage of his good start and obtain a prominent position. He added that when he noticed runners quickly improving to his inside shortly after the start he elected to immediately restrain his mount to obtain cover rather than risk being caught wide and without cover. He stated that while he was able to obtain a position with cover at the rear of the field near the 900m, it was further back than he had anticipated. He added that his mount travelled well thereafter and when placed under pressure from the 400m Kiss The Bride responded well and finished its race off strongly.

Burbank – change of tactics – to be ridden conservatively: settled on pace. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Recording To Win – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Saintly Sunrise – slow to begin. Blundered badly near the 50m resulting in rider C. Reith becoming unbalanced.
