Supplementary Report:

Warwick Farm: Wednesday 16 May 2018

Race 4: Ranvet Power Formula Handicap 1600m:

Thy Kingdom Come- When questioned regarding the horse racing further forward, rider B. Shinn stated that he was instructed to ensure that Thy Kingdom Come began well as it was slowly away at its previous start at Wyong on 3 May 2018. He stated that after beginning well, given the slow early tempo of the race and as the horse was stepping up to 1600m, he was able to take advantage of his early settling position and race on the speed in a position more forward than anticipated.

Desert Lord- Stewards acceded to a request from K. Jennings to amend the dates of a suspension incurred under AR137(b) in the abovementioned race. K. Jennings' licence to ride in races is now suspended for a period to commence on Thursday 24 May 2018 and to expire on Tuesday 5 June 2018, on which day he may ride.

Race 7: tab.com.au Handicap 1400m:

Kitteau– J. McDonald, rider of the 6th placegetter, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the winning post where circumstances permit.

_____

RACE 1: ITC Corporate Members Raceday Maiden Handicap 1000m:

Battle Anthem – slow to begin.

Mista Legend – When questioned, A. Hyeronimus stated that, after beginning a little awkwardly, the gelding, which was having its first race start today, was able to take up a midfield position. He said that his mount travelled well throughout, however, raced greenly under pressure in the straight. He added that Mista Legend may be looking for further ground and would derive benefit from today's race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Eugene's Pick – raced greenly in the straight.

Musical Genius – knuckled on jumping, shifted out and bumped Eugene's Pick, which was taken out on to Above And Beyond. Raced greenly when placed under pressure over the final 200 metres.

Lexiloo – when caught wide in the early stages was then steadied and shifted in behind runners near the 700m.

RACE 2: Nimaka Pty Ltd Maiden Plate 1600m:

He's Imposing – Rider J. Ford reported that, after beginning well and with the slow early pace, he allowed his mount to stride forward without unduly pressuring it whereby it was able to establish the lead.

Smoke Of Luck – had to be checked on jumping when crowded between He's Imposing and High Potential, which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

Better Than Elle – shortly after the start was steadied and shifted in behind runners.

High Potential – The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow K. O'Hara, the rider of 3rd placegetter High Potential, and connections to view the Stewards patrol footage and consider whether or not to lodge an objection against the 2nd placegetter Stealthy for alleged interference in the straight. When K. O'Hara was satisfied that there were insufficient grounds to lodge an objection, and the Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was declared. Near the 300m High Potential shifted in and away from Stealthy after being briefly crowded to the inside of that runner, and near the 200m was then shifted out from behind the heels of Stealthy to continue into clear running.

RACE 3: TBC Distribution Maiden Handicap 1400m:

Lucky Machu – When questioned, rider T. Clark stated that his mount travelled fairly throughout the early and middle stages, however, when placed under pressure prior to the home turn, failed to respond to his urgings and was most disappointing in its failure to finish its race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Sadler's Rest – slow to begin (2L) and, shortly after the start, was steadied and shifted in behind runners.

Alice Of Ulster – laid out under pressure over the final 100 metres.

Impatience – laid out under pressure over the final 100 metres.

Myprayer – slow to begin and, from its wide barrier, was shifted in behind runners in the early stages.

Thor's Thunder – hung out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the straight.

Cook Straight – slow to begin.

One Of The Kind – slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. Over the final 75 metres was inclined to lay out and, as a result, was unable to be fully ridden out. An inquiry into the reasons for the gelding suffering interference near the 200m was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

RACE 4: Tatama Pty Ltd Class 2 Handicap 1400m:

Nathula – was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, and approaching the 400m was eased when disappointed for a run between Hail The Hero and Organza, which shifted out. After being able to be ridden along for a short distance thereafter, approaching the 200m Nathula had to again be eased to avoid the heels of Organza, which shifted out slightly.

Organza – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Mileage – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off-hind leg. Trainer Ms G. Englebrecht was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Mileage racing again.

Hail The Hero – Rider M. Bell reported that he was instructed to have his horse ridden prominently today, however, due to the delay at the start, with the late withdrawal of Bayamo, his mount became somewhat relaxed and when the start was effected Hail The Hero began only fairly. He added that from the wide barrier he endeavoured to comply with instructions by riding his mount along, however, when caught wide in the early stages and when it became apparent that he was not going to be able to obtain a position with cover he elected to remain racing three wide without cover in a midfield position.

Lady Elizabeth – after being slow to begin was then steadied when crowded between Organza and Nathula. Lady Elizabeth was held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 200m.

Dutchesse Moshe – began awkwardly. Near the 1300m had to be eased to avoid the heels of Duchess Royale (J. Grisedale), which shifted in when not clear. J. Grisedale was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

On Angels Wings – When questioned regarding the gelding leading today, App. Q. Yong stated that his instructions were to have the horse ridden back, however, after commencing to race keenly in the early stages and despite his endeavours to comply with instructions, he elected to allow the gelding, which was first up today from a spell, to stride forward whereby it ultimately obtained the lead near the 1000m.

Bayamo – after being placed in the barriers, became fractious, reared, kicked out and got its off-hind leg caught between the back gates. The mare was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinary officer and was found to have superficial lacerations to its near hind leg and, as such, was ruled unfit to start. As such, Bayamo was declared a late withdrawal at 2.06 p.m. acting on veterinary advice. Stewards subsequently ordered that all moneys placed on Bayamo be refunded in full and, with regard to betting with bookmakers, all successful wagers made prior to 2.06 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket:

1st Organza less 0 cents win, 1 cent place;

2nd Brad The Lad less 2 cents place;

3rd Lady Elizabeth less 2 cents place.

Trainer Mr R. Quinton was advised that an official warning would be placed on the mare's record for its barrier manners.

RACE 5: Hollymount Bloodstock Maiden Plate 1200m:

Antonio's Pride – began awkwardly and shifted out. When questioned, App. Q. Krogh stated that his mount, which was first up today, raced keenly after being able to establish the lead in the early stages. As a consequence, his mount was left without a finishing effort, however, in his opinion, Antonio's Pride is better suited over further distance and will derive benefit from today's run. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Gambeson – J. McDonald, the rider of Tonsor, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that passing the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Gambeson, resulting in that runner having to be checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. J. McDonald's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 27 May 2018 and to expire on Friday 1 June 2018, on which day he may ride.  When the pace commenced to slacken passing the 800m, Gambeson raced up on to the heels of Tonsor, shifted out and hampered Starring, which was carried wider. Held up rounding the home turn and approaching the 350m had to shift back to the inside of Tonsor to secure clear running.

Starring – near the 1000m had to be eased to avoid the heels of Antonio's Pride (App. Q. Krogh), which shifted in when not clear. App. Krogh was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Tonsor – laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Chorus – after being slow to begin, was steadied and shifted in behind runners.

Daydream Explorer – blundered shortly after the start when crowded between Tonsor and Picaro, both of which shifted ground.

Havelka – rider M. Cahill lost the use of his whip near the 50m.

RACE 6: Dean Industrial Pty Ltd Benchmark 65 Handicap 1200m:

Dawn Raid – passing the 800m clipped the heels of Man Of Colours and blundered after being bumped by Red Henno, which when racing very fiercely and when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Spanish Dream, shifted out slightly despite the efforts of its rider.

Midnight Ride – stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground (4L). Trainer Ms G. Markwell was advised that an official warning would be placed on the gelding's barrier manners.

Palladian – after being crossed by Dynamic Bid near the 1000m, commenced to race fiercely and, for some distance approaching the 900m, had to be steadied from the heels of After Thought.

Bright Future – shortly after the start, had to be steadied away from the heels of Man Of Colours, which shifted in. Raced wide and without cover throughout.

Red Henno – began awkwardly. Near the 800m commenced to race fiercely and for some distance thereafter had to be continually steadied from the heels of Spanish Dream.

Kotinos – raced wide and without cover throughout.

After Thought – began awkwardly and made contact with its nearside barrier gate on jumping.

Hypernicus – over the final 50 metres was disappointed for a run between After Thought and Dawn Raid, which shifted in slightly, and as a consequence Hypernicus could not be ridden out fully to the end of the race.

Off The Dial – after being slow to begin had to be eased when crowded between Kotinos and Dawn Raid, both of which shifted ground. Passing the 600m part of the brow band worn by Off The Dial was dislodged.

RACE 7: Anytime Fitness Albion Park And Shellharbour Benchmark 67 Handicap 1600m:

Nikkas 'n' A Twist – near the 1200m had to be steadied from the heels of Swiss, which after obtaining a position in advance of Nikkas 'n' A Twist then commenced to be steadied.

Fly Till Dawn – slow to begin.

Bolord – after being slow to begin, was steadied and shifted in behind runners. Over the final 50 metres became held up on the heels of Dante Rossetti and was unable to be fully tested in the run to the line. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Swiss – began awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.

RACE 8: Kembla Grange Class 1 And Maiden Plate 2000m:

Biodynamic – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Delacroix – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Dress Rehearsal – slow to begin. Had some difficulty in the early part of the straight obtaining completely clear running.

Dashing Special – was declared a late withdrawal at 12.55 p.m. on veterinary advice after the gelding slipped whilst being loaded on to the float.

Twilighter – change of tactics – option to be ridden further forward from the inside barrier: settled midfield.

Porky Pies – rider J. Penza explained that his instructions were to take up a midfield position if the gelding began well, however, not be caught wide and without cover. He added that in the early stages, when he was not able to obtain a position with cover, he allowed his mount to stride forward and take up the lead approaching the 1400m.

Heartlet – shortly after the start, had to be steadied when crowded between Saint Katarina and Ollie The Third, which shifted ground. Approaching the 600m was hampered and carried wider by Reign Over Me, which was taken out slightly by Myriads.

GENERAL:

Stewards today inquired into an alleged altercation between barrier attendants, Mr D. Russell and Mr M. Finlayson, at the Kembla Grange race meeting on Saturday 12 May 2018.
