The nine race programme for Rosehill on Saturday has drawn 169 nominations on Monday including 15 for the feature $150,000, listed Winter Cup (2400m). Hush Writer (JPN), the winner of the listed WJ McKell Cup over 2400m on June 1st is back to attempt to make it two stakes wins in succession.
It was a fine feat by the Waterhouse and Bott stable to produce the four-year-old Rulership gelding first up to win the McKell Cup by a short neck over the Waller stable pair of High Bridge (GB) and Girl Tuesday. Carrying 53kg under James Inner Jnr Hush Writer was leading at the 400m and sustained his run through to the line.
High Bridge, an eight-year-old Monsun gelding, is nominated for another run at Hush Writer with the second place his best result since a win at Warwick Farm over 2200m back in September last year.
The ever eventful Waterhouse and Bott stable have also nominated Social Element (NZ) after his recent hurdling in Victoria. The five-year-old Savabeel gelding won at Warrnambool over 3200m on April 30th and then race second over 3400m at Sandown on May 26th, picking up stakes of $39,250 for his owners.
Last October Social Element was second to Exoteric (GB) (53.5kg) in the listed Tatts Cup over 2400m at Randwick with 53kg under Rachel King.
The track is rated a Soft 6 on Monday after 28.5mm of rain over the last seven days.
Rosehill’s weather this week is for fine and sunny weather except for a chance of showers with up to 3mm on Thursday. Temperatures will range from 22c on Tuesday with 24c on Wednesday and 20c on Friday. Saturday’s forecast is for a sunny day with 5c – 17c.
