Home Of The Brave (IRE) heads Aurie's Star betting

Godolphin's Starspangledbanner seven-year-old gelding Home Of The Brave (IRE) heads betting at $3.50 with for the $150,000, listed Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington and holds three-times more money with the bookmaker than second favourite, Darren Weir's Voodoo Lad at $3.70.

The import last started when unsuccessful in the 2017 Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile over 1600m at Del Mar and prior to that start he was  third in the Group 2 Park Stakes over 1413m at Doncaster and second in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes over 1408m at Glorious Goodwood. Earlier in 2017 he won the Group 3 Criterion Stakes over 1408 at Neewmarket and the listed Rich Stakes over 1408m at Leicester.

The Hayes and Dabernig trained Poetic Dream (IRE), the 2017 German Group 2 2000 Guineas winner, is the second best backed runner and has firmed from $7.00 into $4.80.

The bookmaker also expects Godolphin to play a strong hand in the $150,000, listed The Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday. Plague Stone is the best supported runner and the Godolphin Lonhro colt is a dominant $2.60 favourite.

“Punters are confident about the chances of former English sprinter Home Of The Brave, having his first Australian start. Plague Stone is a highly promising three-year-old and one of the best supported runners for the Rosehill card,” said’s Ella Zampatti.
