Other Comments / Explanations:

All horses competing in Race 8 were subject to Group 1 protocols.

Six random jockeys were subject to urine testing after arriving on course.

Race 1 - Maribyrnong Plate (Group 3) - 1000m:

Art Collection - after being fractious in its starting stall, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Began awkwardly.

Memphis Rock - began awkwardly. Rider Ryan Moore could offer no explanation for the performance, which was below expectations. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Chicago Bull - began awkwardly. Raced keenly through the early stages.

Knowles - bumped at the start by Memphis Rock, which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. Was steadied in across the heels of Wedgetail passing the 400m and then raced greenly.

Abshiroo - rider Andrew Mallyon reported that the colt would benefit from the run. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 2 - DrinkWise Plate - 1700m:

Itchy Ears - late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 7.34am.

Hunboshi (NZ) - began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Play That Song - tightened for room at the start between Lucky Helmet, which began awkwardly and shifted in, and Palmateer which was taken out by Double The Magic and Raiding Party. Unbalanced passing the 200m when contacted on the hindquarters by Black And Tan.

Wild Sea - slow to begin.

Global Sanction - steadied to avoid the heels of Raiding Party which shifted in when not clear approaching the 1300m. Raced three wide without cover.

Pure Scot - raced in restricted room approaching the 1300m when tightened by Global Sanction which was in turn tightened by Raiding Party.

Black And Tan - steadied near the 1200m to avoid the heels of Tigeen (NZ). Checked at the 200m when disappointed for clear running between Cabierro and Play That Song, which was shifting out before being straightened. Severely checked near the 100m when tightened for room between Play That Song and Cabierro, which shifted in abruptly away from Nessuna Fiducia which had in turn also shifted in away from Guipure, which had shifted in slightly before being straightened. After taking into account that Kerrin McEvoy (Cabbierro) had attempted to straighten his mount as soon as practical, Stewards took no action.

Earth Angel - over-raced through the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running from the 450m until passing the 300m.

Tigeen (NZ) - raced keenly through the middle stages and near the 1100m was steadied to avoid the heels of Pure Scot. Disappointed for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 200m.

Raiding Party - raced three wide without cover from the 800m.

Mark Zahra (Raiding Party) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that approaching the 1300m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Global Sanction thereby tightening that mare in onto Pure Scot which was in turn tightened in onto Earth Angel resulting in Pure Scot racing in restricted room and Global Sanction being steadied to avoid the heels of Raiding Party. Mark Zahra had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 10th and to expire at midnight November 16th, a total of eight race meetings (one metropolitan, seven provincial). In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

Race 3 - Twitter Trophy - 1800m:

Mahamedeis - began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Ready For Success.

Ready For Success - became unbalanced when bumped by Mahamedeis at the start. Steadied at the 1700m to avoid the heels of Astoria, after having been taken in by Mahamedeis (James Winks) which, after initially racing tight on the inside of Legale, then shifted in away from that gelding; James Winks was reprimanded and advised to attempt to straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

Legale - began awkwardly. When giving ground at the 300m, checked when avoiding the heels of A Shin Rook (JPN), which had been taken in by Al Galayel (IRE) which had shifted prior to its rider Mark Zahra straightening the gelding which was racing greenly.

Top Of The Range (NZ) - began awkwardly and was then tightened for room between Astoria and Savacool (NZ) which shifted out.

A Shin Rook (JPN) - over-raced through the early stages when being restrained and then raced three wide without cover from the 800m.

Astoria - rider William Buick reported that his mount over-raced in the early and middle stages and this was detrimental to his chances. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4 - Off The Track Subzero Handicap - 1400m:

My Blue Jeans - connections advised would be ridden with cover from the wide gate; after being obliged to race wide early, was allowed to stride forward and lead.

Dont Blush Baby - connections advised would be ridden further forward; sat outside the leader.

Stratocaster (NZ) - raced ungenerously through the middle stages. Rider Craig Williams reported that his mount travelled well until placed under pressure where it failed to respond to his riding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Andaz - raced three wide without cover from the 1000m.

Harbour Grey (NZ) - tightened and checked near the 1200m. Rider Mark Zahra stated that even though the gelding suffered some interference, the performance was still disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Beau Mertens (Miss Skeptical) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that near the 1200m, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Stratocaster (NZ), resulting in that gelding shifting in and taking Andaz and Chalk inwards, resulting in Harbour Grey (NZ) being tightened and checked. Beau Mertens had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight November 15th and to expire at the conclusion of the day meeting on November 23rd, a total of ten race meetings (three metropolitan, seven provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

The track was upgraded from Soft 5 to Good 4 @ 2.22pm after the running of this race.

Race 5 - Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Final - 1600m:

Full Of Theories - began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover. Laid inwards rounding the home turn. Rider Stephen Baster reported that his mount over-raced.

Stealthy Lucas - held up for clear running from the 500m until passing the 300m.

Akkadian - steadied at the 250m to avoid the heels of Stealthy Lucas (Brett Prebble) which shifted in; Brett Prebble was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Penny To Sell (NZ) - was inconvenienced passing the 200m and shifted in away from Stealthy Lucas (Brett Prebble) which had shifted in to obtain clear running; Brett Prebble was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Maxey Campo - a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery.

Race 6 - Absolut Stakes (Listed) - 1000m:

Thermal Current - after making contact with a gate en route to the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race.
