Chautauqua expected to firm in The Everest market

The markets reacted to Chautauqua's successful Flemington barrier trial on Friday morning. had the champion sprinter drifting from $5.50 out to $16 since last October in The Everest betting, but the bookmaker expects that to soon change.

Chautauqua, a six-time Group 1 winner, has one more trial in NSW before his racing ban is lifted and clear the way for a return to the races. He then must be accepted for one of the remaining slots for the invitation race

Trapeze Artist heads Everest betting with on $4.60 ahead of defending champion Redzel ($5.50).

“Chautauqua has one hurdle to get over and if he does that his price will no doubt shorten for The Everest. He’s a star sprinter and throughout his career he’s been a favourite of the punters and we all want to see him back racing again,’’ said’s Will Byrne.
