The Rosehill feature on Saturday, the $600,000, Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), has a capacity field of 20 with four emergencies after acceptances on Wednesday.
The 2018 winner, Ron Quinton’s Daysee Doom, has drawn the short straw of top-weight of 58kg under Andrew Adkins and also barrier 21 before the emergencies come out.
The six-year-old Domesday mare comes into the race off a sixth place in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill on February 23rd, with that race won by White Moss with I Am Serios second and both are accepted for Saturday.
Quinton’s other Group mare, Dixie Blossoms, has fared better at barrier two with 56.5kg under Christian Reith.
Fourth placed last year was Kurt Goldman’s Eckstein and the five-year-old I Am Invincible mare returns on Saturday. She was fifth in the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes over 1400m at Randwick on March 2nd to Alassio and Dixie Blossoms.
Eckstein has barrier 11 with 56kg under Sam Clipperton while Alassio has barrier six and 55.5kg under Tim Clark. The latter, a five-year-old Foxwedge mare, is in fine form with two wins in succession and since January she has won three and placed second and third in the other of her five starts.
The Waller stable’s I Am Serious is another to draw wide at 15 for James McDonald with 55kg. White Moss for Jason Coyle and Kathy O’Hara is well positioned in five with 55.5kg.
I Am Serious has opened with TAB.com.au as the $5.50 favourite followed by Jamaican Rain at $9.00, Oregon’s Day, Alassio and Fiesta at $12.00 and Dixie Blossoms at $14.00.
The Coolmore Classic is Race 7 at 4.50pm.
The nine race programme commences at 1.00pm with a field of 10 for the $125,000, Catanach’s Bm 88 Handicap (1350m).
The track is rated a Good 4 on Wednesday but note that rain is forecast as below. The rail will be in the true position for the entire circuit.
Parramatta’s weather leading into Saturday has considerable rain forecast. Thursday’s forecast is for a cloudy day and a very high (95%) chance of showers with 8mm-20mm and a chance of a thunderstorm with 26c. Friday is similar with 3mm-10mm forecast, the chance of a thunderstorm and 27c,
Saturday’s forecast is for a cloudy day and a high (80%) chance of showers with 6mm-20mm and 18c – 27c.
