Cahill's season all but over after hand surgery

NSW jockey Mathew Cahill's season has all but ended after he had to have minor surgery to one of his hands on Tuesday.

Cahill sustained the hand injury in a race fall at Wellington on Thursday when dislodged from Jetgirl at around the 200m mark. He was unable to accept rides at Randwick on Saturday and after the surgery he will require approximately six weeks to recover.

From 572 rides throughout NSW this season Cahill won 68 races and placed in 199 with stakes earings of$1,608,880.
