The $125,000, Merry Christmas ATC Members Sprint (1100m) represented the best quality event staged on Saturday’s Rosehill Gardens program in Sydney and witnessed a flawless performance by Glyn Scofield aboard Bon Amis (by Bon Hoffa) to land the odds for favourite backers.

A Benchmark 88 with thirteen runners possessed of serious speed, the contest was always going to be run at a furious pace and didn’t disappoint.
With something in the region of 30 lengths covering last-to-first at one stage of the contest, the likelihood of either of the two leaders Tango Rain and Niccobelle holding on to win seemed to be remote to say the least.
And so it proved with Bon Amis, given the run of the race, claiming victory with aplomb.
Positioned four-to-five lengths in fourth position just off a furious pace, Bon Amis appeared the likely winner shortly after turning for home and never gave his supporters a moment of concern thereafter.
Eased into the open with 300 metres to race, the very handy son of Bon Hoffa had little difficulty in picking off the tearaway leaders to win with the minimum of fuss.
Ridden well off the hectic pace, the Godolphin pair of Jorda (by Exceed And Excel) and Coruscate (by Exceed And Excel) ran into second and third place respectively.
Junglized did a good job to claim fourth after racing just behind the two leaders throughout the early and middle stages.
Illustrating the nature of the contest was the exceptionally fast winning time of 1m02.79s, as well as the final 600m section of 33.83s.
Also reflective of the breakneck early pace is the fact that the two leaders Tango Rain and Niccobelle knocked-up to finish ninth and tenth respectively.
Bon Amis won by a length-and-a-quarter, with the runner-up Jorda finishing a half-length ahead of her stable companion Coruscate in third.
Starting prices of the event were $4.40 favourite, $14.00 and $6.50.
Bon Amis is trained by Jason Deamer for Mr G R Sheppard, Mrs L K Sheppard, Mr T W Bremner, Mrs W J Truebody-Geens, Mr D W Thaw, Ms C A Rixon, Mrs J A Pinterovic, Mr J Pinterovic, Mrs K L Johnson, Mr D T Johnson, Mr T B Wood, Mrs J A Wood, Mr D G Adamson, Mr S G Green and Mr P R Endacott.
A tremendously consistent performer, the 5-year-old was winning for the sixth time in a 13 race career that has also witnessed him finish runner-up on another four occasions.
